I wouldn't call this a perfect stay to be frank with you all. I arrived there on Thursday evening to check in with a party of three. In what should've been a smooth checkout process turned into a financial nightmare. First, to be clear of how much I was being charged, I asked the inn receptionist what was my total for the entire stay. By this point, she already has my card and had charged me the total, but I just wanted to know. She tells me the total, but then also tells me that she voided the transaction because she wasn't sure if I wanted to accept the total itself or wanted to do something different. In other words, she never asked me to void it or cancel the transaction, she just did that on her volition. Now, at this point, my card has been charged, but according to the inn's system, she still needs a payment because she cannot check me in until she gets a payment (even though my bank statement shows me that the inn has a pending transaction of the money taken from my account). So due to this, I ask my friend to give me $903 extra dollars and pay for the trip until the money returns back into my account and I can give him the cash received back. Loss nearly an extra grand and almost had little to no spending money for this trip. I'd also like to preface that I was told my money would return to me in 24 hours...and it didn't, so there's that. Bank issue, not the inn, I guess. Not to mention, the beds here are small. The room is about as roomy as it can be, but not necessarily what I'd call "fancy" living. It can lodge you, but not worth being in all day. Especially if you are tall, you will have an issue. Average...no, disastrous living. But I wouldn't say it's the worst place to live in, honestly. The prices are decent, for the most part and can be worth your while when you need a place to stay. Not faulting them for being there when needed the most. 3/5 experience, but I'm not coming back here, no matter my last minute options.
Word of advice to the receptionist: Think first before you act because you did a little too much movement there. Not to sound rude, but I shouldn't have to be charged twice and lose more money due to your actions. One I didn't ask for, and one you could've...
Read moreThis hotel charged me more than double my original booking fee, when I pointed it out to their attention they gave me the run around the whole day claiming they can't find me in the system despite the fact I have email and bank statement confirmation.
It wasn't until I went to the hotel twice before all of a sudden I magically appeared in their system and then the rude Eastern European receptionist kept lying and coming up with reasons to not refund me.
I will never go back to the Wall street inn ever.
Reply: The honest truth is that in all my reservations at this hotel I've never once smoked in any of the guest rooms.
After seeing the charge, I made a complaint to Day use, the rep. told me that the penalty that was charged on my card was explained to me "directly at the time that it was charged" which is a blatant and ridiculous lie because I had no such conversation with anyone. I don't know if you have cameras pointing to the receptionist area or toward room 208 where I was but if you do then review the recording if you have it and you'll see that I left around 6:15-6:25 pm, I spent my time, left the room, turned in my card and walked out I was never told of any penalties that I would incur.
Furthermore I have a witness who was with me at the hotel who knows I'm right.
I truly do not know what would lead your employee to say that I was smoking for whatever reason and I don't like thinking about the worst about people, but when things like this happen it's hard for anyone not to be frustrated.
I'm open and willing to communicate with you if you like because I have no personal quarrel or ill will to you or your business because up until now I have been...
Read moreThis Inn is in a fantastic area in the Financial District. It's conveniently within walking distance of multiple subway lines and the Staten Island Ferry. I felt safe walking alone late at night from the subway as a female in this part of the city.||The staff was friendly. Our room was large for NYC, and I loved the historic vibe. ||The one draw back was our window was next to an alley courtyard with open air seating for nearby bars/ pubs. Due to the older exterior windows, the noise was loud at night when we tried to sleep. We used our earplugs and it helped. The black out curtains dampened the sound as well. We're from a rural community though, and used to sleeping with pure quiet at night, which doesn't exist in large cities. ||It was still so much better than staying in another part of the city with lots of traffic and sirens at night. I've done that in newer hotels in other parts of the city and this was a lot better. We didn't hear noise inside the hotel or from any other guests through interior walls.|||The front desk was staffed 24 hours a day with at least one person at front desk. They were pleasant, greeted us when we came and went, and helpful answering questions and navigating. ||I enjoyed the smaller touches you don't get in a large chain hotel like an umbrella to use during our stay, and a bowl of candy at the front desk. ||Booking directly through their website saved us money and they gave us a complimentary room upgrade. ||I would stay again and highly recommend it for business travelers, solo female travelers, couples, international travelers, and small families with...
