Usually enjoy doing business with Hilton / Hampton Inn until my recent stay at this location. Given the temperature is in the 80’s / 90’s, I come into my room as the room temperature was 79 and set at 64. Asked the gentleman at the front desk to see if I could get a different room and was told the rooms were all sold out. Turns out that was false as a friend of mine called to see if he could get a room as there were plenty of rooms available. Maintenance stops by and informed me the breaker was reset and that I would have to reset the thermostat 20 minutes later. Nothing throughout the night. At least I got a fan a few minutes later but that didn’t justify keeping my room cool with it being so humid. Today when I checked out I explained the problem / situation to the person behind the front desk as she would accommodate me with extra points for the inconvenience. Later throughout the day I got the same amount as with previous Hilton / Hampton locations. Very disappointed with the service I received as no one truly cared about how I felt and accommodate me in the right way.

I must say that my stay was very good, I came for business and stayed three nights. The bed was soft and for those who complained about the heating and that, in my case everything worked perfectly. If at any time hot water does not come out of the shower, I recommend leaving it open for a couple of minutes and it will start to come out. The reception staff is extremely friendly and in my case I got a lady who speaks Spanish, I speak English but anyway, it's nice to see someone who can speak your own language. The hotel is in a quiet area and although the rooms are not exceptionally large, they allow for a good and restful stay. Do not hesitate to ask what you need at the reception, they will give you great customer service within their own possibilities (As long as it is not something crazy of course) Oh, and regarding the rate, remember that this is Manhattan ;) so for me was inside the pricing range of the city.

First, going through a third party was so annoying took 35 mins to book. Got into the room the views looked like a prison, decor looked like a prison, the blind kept moving the entire night, the bed was rock hard, the walls were paper thin could not sleep at all, the alarm clock was set to the wrong time, the bathroom smelled spoiled, the toilet also did not stop running after you flushed it kept us up all night, the elevator was so slow had to take two to get to our room, the thermostats battery was low and then died, breakfast was pathetic and only for one hour and to top it all off of not being able to sleep the fire alarm started going off at 2 am for no reason! We love Hilton but really feel disrespected at the price of our room for $300+ for ONE NIGHT ( check in 2am out by 10 am ) ** the only thing enjoyable was the front desk person he was sooo nice I hope you pay him well !** RAFAEL shoutout to you !

This hotel was our "home base" during our recent vacation to Southern Manhattan and provided us with everything we needed for our stay. I selected the Hampton Inn due to its location for easy access to the ferries for Governors Island, restaurants, transportation, stores, and many landmarks. Since I have to travel with medication that requires refrigeration, I called in advance and spoke with the front desk agent, Q, who informed me that refrigerators are not standard in the rooms but can be requested. She graciously placed a notion on our reservation and I was already pleased with my first interaction. On the day of our arrival, I called again to confirm a mini fridge was placed in the room and had the pleasure of speaking with Jonathan who assured me one should be there, and if not, to call down for one to be brought up. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Jonathan who was friendly, efficient, thorough during check in allowing us some must needed rest after traveling all morning. Although there isn't a water fountain in the lobby, the juice machine in the breakfast area offers water. In the concessions area, the usual selection of snacks and drinks are available for purchase, and there is complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available 24/7. The gym is located in the basement but I didn't venture down there having gotten all my exercise from exploring the Big Apple. The breakfast area provides free hot breakfast for all guests with a selection of breads, muffins, some style of egg, protein, and a side, along with their waffle station and "oatmeal" which was in fact cream of wheat. I was disappointed by the extremely limited selection of gluten-free items and the quality of what was provided was mediocre. The room was comfortable and the air conditioning was powerful, welcomed relief from the late September heat. The mini fridge was in the room when we arrived and I appreciated the staff's cooperation to have that request fulfilled. The bathroom had a sliding barn door, while en vogue, are more of a nuisance to open and close but the real disappointment was the one hook on the wall. This was inadequate for two damp towels to be hung and one kept ending up on the floor since the only option was to sling it across the small shelf since there were no handles on the shower door or any other option. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would stay here again when concentrating our vacation in this neighborhood of Manhattan. I recommend it for business travelers due to its proximity to the Financial District and to tourists looking to take advantage of the numerous ferries and subway stations. A huge thank you to all the wonderfully helpful staff: Q, Jonathan, and another gentleman who worked at night and always greeted us with a smile. We look forward to...

Stayed there a few months back on the business trip. The hotel was ok, small rooms, breakfast area was very small and crowded, food wasn't replenished on time, so i had to go eat at the near by cafe. I would have given it 4 stars if not the incident at the end after i checked out. I had personal items left at the hotel safe. Nothing very expensive just something that took me over 2 yrs to get from overseas. So they had a lot of sentimental value for me. I left them in the locked safe, got home and discovered that i was missing them the day after. I didn't open my luggage between the hotel and the house. The items were not in my bag. I remember putting them in the safe but i know for a fact i never got them out. I called a day later to request the items to be mailed to me. And was told that they didn't find anything which was a lie. I was told that the safe was unlocked when i checked out which is not true. Immediately i knew what quality of people i was dealing with. In fact, the housekeeping department manager called me a lier in a very aggressive manner. To say that i was shocked is to say nothing. Very rude staff! They did their own "investigation" and of course didn't find anything. The worst part there was no apology, nothing, just rudeness. The higher ups obviously don't care, and apparently employ thieves. The GM doesn't seem to even bother return a phone call. She never reached out to me, even though i left a voicemail on her office phone and asked for a call back. And if you look at the responses she leaves for folks who rate this hotel low on other websites, they are all copy and paste. Sad! No care, no regard. Just cheap excuses. That is the level of care you can expect if something goes wrong while you stay at this place. Just consider yourselves warned. I never had such experience in my life where the staff would rather blame you than figure out what happened and where your items went. Items that I paid money for. Instead they treat you with no respect and basically call you a lier. As if property stealing by staff is a new concept and never happened before. Hilton hotels have always been our go to chain but not anymore. I also make sure i tell everybody who is visiting NYC to stay away from...

Staying here at the time of commenting. The staff is incompetent and untrained. I asked a staff member today for a room with a cupboard. He said no rooms have cupboard. Luckily I had seen a room here with a cupboard and asked about it and then he agreed there is and promised to give a room change during the day. Didn't do it though. (by the way the hilton website says property gives iron, safe, etc in every room-implying that cupboard will also be there). On previous night staff did not know how to charge upfront - after I pushed a bit he called in a manager who set it up. An important issue I asked about was on disabling auto-preauthorization since I was paying upfront and my bank takes a while to release pre-authorisation amounts and previous night despite paying upfront I got an additional 528usd pre-auth charge. He said he will let the manager know. In the evening when I came back nothing was done I asked another person at the desk to help with it. She said she may not be able to do it and the night manager might me able to do it. Night manager said she did not know how to do it and that it is not possible. When I said I have had that done before she said she will let the manager know. I told her that this is the third time I am hearing that in the day and I got a curt response that she cannot speak for her colleagues and that she will update her manager about the issue. To me all 3 people are representatives of hilton but anyway! So thrice in a day I tried getting it fixed but it didn't happen...unfortunately tonight again hilton system will block additional money since the hotel could not fix it. Some staff members are nice too. But the irritation on account of incompetence just spoils the experience. About property, if you have a sensitive nose, you'll get a certain humid, dusty smell at the property. Will take a while to get used to it.

On the pros side- rooms are well done and have a desk in every room. Adequate lighting is there. Prices are lesser than the other hilton brands nearby. All essentials - internet, cleanliness, supplies - are available...
