I rely on reviews to make decisions and I feel like these 5 star reviews really led my family astray. First of all, this is an old hotel that has been "renovated". It used to be the Beymont and now is rebranded as a Country Inn and suites. I have stayed at Country Inns in the past and it's always been a good experience. We drove up and they don't have a main sign up and the parking lot was pretty dark. When we walked in, you could tell they have redone the lobby, but there was no water available and no trash cans. Okay, no big deal.
Our room was 2 queen beds and was very small. There is very little room between the beds and the dresser. Everything has been repainted and it smells like paint. But, the paint job looks very careless with paint over the wall borders onto door handles, the bathroom door, the ceiling, over the trim. The ceiling is painted over and you can see the old ceiling through the thin areas of paint. The bathroom is a small closet and the hand towels are set right under exposed sink pipes. The wall behind the sink pipes is discolored. They put in a fancy bathtub plug, but the bathtub doesn't drain when taking a shower. The bathroom does not have a fan or any ventilation, so after taking a shower the bathroom walls are wet and will likely mold very quickly.
The bathroom also does not have a trash can. A huge problem if you are a woman. I guess they forgot half the population needs somewhere to dispose of hygiene products. The shampoo and soap provided is smaller than travel size at the store. Not enough for a man to use. So be sure you have packed your own! The towels are very thin and rough. The pillows are also very thin and flat. Even my 11 yr old had trouble sleeping and he usually sleeps anywhere.
We went to breakfast the next morning and the breakfast attendant is a very kind old man. There was no water available, only juice and milk. We drink mostly water and were just stunned that this basic, necessary thing was not available. The old man was kind enough to make a pitcher of water for us. The breakfast itself is terrible. My kids love waffles, sausage, and eggs. They took one bite, it was hard, chewy, and freezer burned and we decided to just get breakfast somewhere else.
On check-out, the woman said they needed to inspect the room before we left. WTF??!! And then was like oh nvm, your deposit will be returned in 3-5 business days. We had to ask to be given our receipt.
The hotel is renovated. But it just looks like they painted over all the old stuff and gives me the impression any dirt and mold were just repainted over too. The upgrades look and feel cheap. If you are on hard times or a drug addict, this place is great. If you are a family with children, it is not. The stay was overall very...

The hotel is undergoing renovations. When you read other reviews, you will see the owner comment that guests are not allowed on the second floor due to the renovations but I was provided a room on the 2nd floor. Keep that in mind as you read my review.
The new entrance to the lobby is nice. This is where the Fire Marshall notice of violations and eviction notice for one of the guests was displayed. The lobby has a fresh-ish coat of paint but you can see the several layers of paint that it covers. The breakfast area is updated but the only options for breakfast were prepackaged pastries. They served hot food later in the stay. Check-in was slow due to the many manual processes. The hostess was friendly.
The 1st floor had almost every outlet cover removed and the wires were exposed. There were no safety signs or exclusion areas set up around them. The electrician wired some of the bare wires into an extension cord which is a safety issue for anyone passing by. Later in the day, the electrician knocked out power to the whole hotel.
One of the elevators was out for maintenance but the other one worked. I was on the 2nd floor which had an odor of pot and mildew. Large fans were placed at key points to try to alleviate the smell. The door to the room used to store chemicals was propped open. The gym door was propped open but the gym was closed for renovations.
My room was in a sad state. The furniture was pretty worn out, the floor was sticky, the outlets didn't hold the plugs for since they were worn out too. I tested every electrical outlet and found 1 that held my charging cord. This meant I had to charge my phone, then unplug it to use my CPAP. The bathroom sink drain plug was stuck closed so I had to use a pen to open it and let the water drain. The tub drain plug was missing but the tub still drained slowly and biofilm would seep back into the tub water. I had to get my key rekeyed daily to access my room. The staff kept telling me to not keep the key in my pocket with my cell phone but I stored the key in my wallet in my back pocket, far from my phone.
I asked about room service and was told they come daily but I was there for 3 days and never...
Read moreThis hotel was under renovation during our stay. The room we stayed in was clean and renovated with new furniture bathroom and etc. The staff accommodated us with our requests. This hotel should not have carpet. Especially on the 1st floor due to the pool location. Customers that leave the pool have wet feet etc. and have ruined the new carpet already and it has started to smell. It should be laminated or vinyl plank. Which in my opinion, is also better for the rooms. I saw a room identical to ours that have the vinyl/laminate floors and gave the room a better feel. Also, the Baymont Rooms are small therefore the renovated rooms are tight although the furniture is nice, etc. The elevators need an interior upgrade or paint job. The non renovated floors feel sketchy, and even the renovated floors have rooms that have no locks etc. and look like storage rooms. All these factors downgrade the potential feel of the hotel. I am sure for revenue reasons they are still booking rooms on the non-renovated floor. And those floors look terrible. I would not have stayed in that hotel if I got a room on that floor (2). Hopefully the renovation will move quickly, however at its current status it is far from the meeting the Country Inn and Suites brand standard. On the positive the owner gave us a group discount that made the conditions more acceptable, otherwise we would not have stayed there at this time. Hopefully they will get it done quickly. The lobby was fairly nice, but there is no wall decor in the hotel period, not in the rooms, lobby, breakfast...
