As it became closer for my trip, I became uneasy about staying at this hotel based on the mixed reviews. I attempted to cancel, but unlike most hotels, the cancellation needed to be done within 7 days instead of the normal one day. When I received the "See You Soon" email, I saw that my rooms were to be on the top floor, without elevator access. This did not match my original confirmation. Knowing that I would be traveling with three people with knee issues, I would never book a hotel without an elevator. This information was not on the website, not on my original confirmation, nor was there two different prices when i booked to signify the difference between the first floor and the second/third floors. According to the corporate office, the manager could have overridden the cancellation policy, but he refused. He did note that they would seek to accommodate my party, but that wasn't guaranteed. Ultimately, I asked for at least two rooms to be moved to the first floor, and after multiple calls, I was accommodated without cost (for that I was thankful). Now for the hotel....it is worn, outdated and needs renovation. Besides no elevator, there was no pool, the ice machines did not work, and there were limited offerings in the vending machine. Based on the lack of amenities, I wasn't surprised to not have a shower curtain. (A curtain was put up on our third day there, which means the room wasn't fully ready when I checked in.) The room had a smell (we used our Lysol to spray the room, carpet, linen, and all other fixtures), upholstery on the desk chair was peeling, my friends felt as if the tub was unstable in their room and the water did not drain, the water in the toilet was continuously running in that same room, and there weren't outlets near the beds in at least one of the rooms we rented. During the stay, the one ice machine that the staff used was out of ice and guests had to wait until ice was delivered the following day. The positives where that the front desk staff were pleasant, helpful and nice (India, Brittany, Destiny, Nicole) and the location is a plus as it was near restaurants, stores and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Overall, the hotel, including its furnishings, need to be updated. I bought friends to experience their first Hall of Fame Enshrinement and they were disappointed in the accommodations. I have stayed in quite a few Choice hotels, but this one ranked towards the bottom. It was not up to the standards I am used to nor that of Choice Hotels that I...
Read moreI stayed at this location after receiving several notices from Choice that I was loosing out on some great opportunities to stay at Choice privileges hotels. I made the reservation and received a confirmation, I arrived on the day i was expected. The young lady at the desk placed me in a room that was across the hall from a family that had small children and they as all small ones do had fun, they yelled and jumped and danced and had a good time. I when to the desk and asked to be moved and was moved a quieter room, so far so good. The room I was moved to had the refrigerator the TV and the microwave plugged in to a wall plate that was controlled by the light switch inside the door. After going to dinner I brought back my extra food from the dinner and placed it along with the my supplies that needed to be kept cold. On Monday I went to work, it was a very hot day, upper 80's and when I arrived back to my room the switch was off an the food, well you never know if you are going to get sick from food left with out the fridge running so I had to go out to eat. The next morning, check out day, I received the usual bill under the door and looked it over. seems the price of the room had gone up since check in by $5.00 per night. I stopped at the deck when leaving for the days work and asked about the changes. The desk clerk took my phone with the reservation confirmation looked it over and then spent several minutes looking at my phone then his computer screen and and so on. Finally he said I would have to wait and speak with his manager. I had to meet with my client at a certain time and did nt have the time to wait. I would not stay at this motel again and I an not very happy with the Choice privileges for having better checks on the hotels they have in there programs. By the way the bed was very hard even though the pictures of the rooms make it look like the pillow top beds in most all chain hotel today, this bed and the floor are...
Read moreWe appreciate having found a hotel near Strongsville where we needed to be the following day for a wedding. We did book late at night as we were traveling from Williamsburg, VA and weren't sure when we would be ready to quit driving for the night. Upon arrival, the gal who checked us in was very friendly. She even complemented me on my eye color.
However, upon entering our room -- after we dropped our luggage and used the restroom -- I noticed a big stink bug climbing up the wall in room 313. After squishing it, and when I was ready to go to bed, I pulled the quilt back and top sheet. The fitted sheet had a stain from where it obviously was previously a blood stain. I wiped at it with a wet rag and nothing more came off so I assumed it had been laundered. Then, the next morning, I proceeded to pull off the top left corner of the fitted sheet which revealed the mattress pad which still had red blood on it -- right under where the fitted sheet stain was. I also then pulled off the mattress pad corner, hoping the housecleaning staff would not just replace the present mattress pad, but remove and launder it first. Other than that, the stay was pleasant, but I'm not sure why the cleaning staff would have left the bloody mattress pad on previously when removing the fitted sheet -- if indeed it was removed and laundered, and not just spot cleaned. Hmmm. I should have called the front desk, but since we arrived so late, we really didn't want to bother anyone and just dealt with it as it was.
Breakfast was good, but I do question putting hard boiled eggs in water which people obviously are touching trying to fish an egg out if they don't use the provided tongs. Also, I'd suggest not putting the butter in the fridge. It doesn't need to be refrigerated and is too hard to spread on anything.
Sorry to be a Debbie-downer on this location, but thought someone should know a few of these...
