I was extremely uncomfortable my entire stay there, so much so we ended up leaving early without a refund for the night we didnt stay might I add. The area is horrible, all day & night there is so much traffic that it takes forever to get anywhere. The only good part is that there are plenty of stores, restaurants, and even a mall close by, as well as the interstate to get to other places if needed. There are so many ppl that hang around inside & out of the hotel, smoking weed right out front. They also only allow u to come in the front door (all side doors don't work from the outside) so they can see who comes and goes to "keep the bad ppl out" but it doesn't work. The emergency exit alarm is constantly going off through-out the day/night from ppl going out the side doors from the inside even tho u aren't supposed to. As soon as u walk in the whole hotel reeks. The elevator sounds & feels like it's going to break down any minute and multiple times there was dog piss in the elevator and at one point there was spilled dog food on the ground outside the elevator. The rooms are disgusting there was hair everywhere, the floors were gross, there were roaches everywhere, the microwave and fridge were gross and rusty, the bed was hard and the sheets didn't seem to be cleaned and had stains all over them, don't even get me started on the bathroom... I wouldn't even shower in the shower we ended up going to a friend's place to shower. Even tho there is a "fully furnished" kitchen area there isn't any pots, pans, bowls, cups..etc. the walls are so damn thin u can literally hear EVERYTHING. People talking, people walking around, the animals making noise, ppl outside, the cars driving by... stay over service was nonexistent, not once did they come by our room in the 5 nights we did stay there. We seen housekeeping on our floor but they never came by and we were on our way out the day we did see them and that was the only time we seen them period. There is no do not disturb signs in sight but im assuming its bc housekeeping doesnt come anyways no matter how long youre there. The only decent thing about this hotel are the ppl who work at front desk, each interaction we had with anyone that worked at front desk was always pleasant, they are very nice. Other than that I have nothing good to say about this place. They need MAJOR renovations and for someone to come in and do a good proper cleaning, along with some fumigation. They need some changes made badly, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Oh I also forgot to add that the floor we were on like 3 rooms down from us the whole room was quarantined off, plastic was taped over the whole door, and when asked why was told bc they are doing renovations to that room...not sure if that was true but ok... DONT stay here just don't, it's not...
Read moreI am the person who bases her stay/purchases on reviews. I read all good and bad. I know people just hit bad luck and that's why it was a negative review. So I hope my review helps the next customer who stays here in Charleston. Let me start with, the reason we were coming to Charleston was for a funeral. My uncle had passed, our family was very close. We live in Maryland so the drive was 10 hours per the GPS. With stops and traffic, we left at noon, arrived in Charleston at 1:15am. My mom, daughter and I were tired and just ready to lay our heads down. The first hotel we checked in gave us some hassle about a late check and the guy was so rude so we left. I am calling hotels at 1:30 in the morning and everything was booked. I came across this hotel, Extended Stay and the guy on the phone (I assume was not at the hotel) was very nice and got us all booked. We arrived to the hotel at 1:30 as we were just down the street. The guy at the front desk, Desmond, made our whole hell of a drive/hotel chaos fade away. He was nice, cracked jokes, made everything so easy for us. Explained everything to me and made check in a breeze.
The hotel was nice, great closet space. Us girls coming for a funeral and not sure what outfit would look right. we used up that closet space. The beds were comfy and clean, the room temp was good. We didn't use the kitchen, tv or phone in the room. We were planning to stay for 3 nights. The service was on our 2nd day and once we learned it would be over by noon, we decided that instead of doing another long drive back home, let's shave it into two days. I called the front desk, spoke to Desmond and again, such great customer service. He and I spoke about an earlier check out and he just made it so easy. The next morning, no one was at the desk for us to check out, but it was easy to figure out what to do. I placed our key in the drop box, I called the front desk on the supplied phone and told them I placed the key in the box and we were checking out.
I called the hotel from home to confirm they received our key for checkout, and spoke to the front desk as well as Charlene, the DM. I swear I love the south because these two ladies (I can picture who I was talking to, but I didn't get her name because I passed by her when were on our way to the viewing Friday morning) they provided such incredible customer service, made me smile. When we go back to Charleston, we will absolutely come stay at Extended Stay again because of those 3 people I mentioned. Again, this is a true review. I believe in a full story instead of a very bleak 5 word sentence. Thanks again Desmond, Charlene and the front desk guru (sorry I didn't get your...
Read moreSCAM ALERT!!! Beware of this hotel -Extended Stay America Select Suites, 7477 Northside Drive, North Charleston, SC- will take your deposit for no reason!!! Stayed here on 03/29/25. After booking online and arriving at the front desk I find out that a deposit is required and would be pending on my credit card. Normal procedure I understand. But what I didn’t understand is why the deposit was MORE than the cost of the room. I should have known then something wasn’t right smdh. Front desk informed me that the deposit would not be taken unless damage was done to the room. The room was not damaged. Checked in around 5:30pm, went directly out to dinner, returned around 10:00pm, then went to sleep, checked out around 6:30am. Traveled from South Carolina to Virginia on Sunday. Monday I get a notification that my credit card was charged for the room deposit. So I called the hotel to dispute the charge because there was not any damage done to the room. I thought I was calling the hotel but it was someone who gave me a number to call. After calling the number I was instructed to press 0 which disconnected me each time I called the number I was given. Then I called back to the hotel (I thought it was the hotel, ended up being the home office from what I was told). I explain to the lady the situation she try’s the number I was given and it works (Imagine that!!) She gets back on the line and transfers me to a guy who takes my reservation number and looks at something and says “ Oh yeah your card was charged.” No ** Sherlock!!! So I asked him why and he said he didn’t know and put me on hold. Next thing I know I’m talking to another lady. She looks at something then says she would take care of it. I told her “Good, I’ll wait while you do it. She then gives me this spill about she has to do this and good through this and that channel. Long story short still waiting on refund of room deposit on my credit card!!! If my refund is not granted I will go through the proper legal channels because this is fraud!!!! Totally...
