This Hampton Inn was one of the best hotels my family has experienced. Everything was exceptionally clean. The staff and service were excellent. The employees were very helpful, cheerful and understanding. All amenities were stocked at all times (room and pool towels, etc.). In the lobby, coffee was available at all times (cookies also). (I must say that the "robust" coffee was fabulous. It rivals a dark, specialty coffee house blend. Breakfast was surprisingly varied. We would HAPPILY stay there again.
Breakfast details: We stayed for 3 nights, therefore eating breakfast for 3 consecutive days. Each day, the hot options were different. Constants included the make-your-own-waffles (including chocolate chips, whipped topping, caramel, and peanut butter, among other syrups), fruit (apples, bananas, oranges, and also a fresh offering of both peeled ruby red and white grapefruit, pineapple, and cantaloupe, an array of moist, flavored muffins, mini tarts and cinnamon rolls, breads, donuts, croissants, English muffins, (toaster provided), instant oatmeal (with brown sugar, dried berries, and nuts), yogurt, juices, milk, multiple coffees, and hot water with a variety of tea options. The options each day included eggs prepared two ways (scrambled, omelet, hard boiled) one meat (turkey links, sausage slices, bacon), one starch--2 differently seasoned "home fried" potatoes OR "bagel toppers", and either hot, prepared oatmeal OR cold cereal.
The only negatives--1. Both the bathroom door and room door needed an extra push to latch (room door) or lock (bathroom door). Both may be due to a building settling issue. 2. No hot tub with the pool.
To address other reviews I had read: there was no mildew smell anywhere. Yes, the coffee maker is in the bathroom, however, we never used it--with the amazing coffee already made 24/7 in the lobby...Why bother?! There WAS a hairdryer--it is in a canvas, drawstring bag in the cubbie...
Read moreI paid $149 for ONE night at the Hampton Inn North Charleston -thinking that there would be no issues.
Everything seemed to be flowing fine when we arrived there. When we got to our room, we were disappointed that our view out our window was a complete wall of the building!!! Other than that, the room seemed fine. It was clean and no foul odor.
We went on with our day... later that evening there were ANTS in our room! Ants were on the bed, the wall, and on the desk by the television!!! There was no way that my friend and I had caused the ants... we never brought in any food or drinks to the room!!
My friend who discovered the ants first immediately called the front desk. The funny part was, I got to see how Kesha (the front desk employee) react to the call, because as I was walking to the elevator my friend was on the phone with Kesha about the ants. WHY did I happened to walk by the front desk and heard/watched the phone conversation???... Because there was NOT ENOUGH PARKING!!! I had dropped my friend off at the front then proceed on to park somewhere else! Coincidence???
The front desk employee Kesha told us all the rooms were booked and they could not move us to another room. Kesha offered that all they could do was come in to spray the ants; which NO ONE EVER CAME!!! When I called back... Kesha told me they had no maintenance employees after 11pm which is lame for a hotel that charges $149/night!!!
Luckily I was able to get my refund (through Expedia) not the hotel. I was very disappointed to run into poor customer service and bug problems at a hotel that was rated so well which is how I based my decision to book this hotel in...
Read moreI made the mistake of stop at the Hampton Inn Summerville, SC. I went and it smelled great and was greeted by the front desk. But I had booked in North Charleston. Not the best area. Upon my arrival I walked in and wasn't acknowledged. I said my name and she said the room I picked wasn't ready. It was after 3pm. The lobby was very warm. Our room digital key or our card wouldn't work. After that back and forth it worked. The room was nice and the shower was very hot. That same evening I need to use the hotel dryer. We'll it took quarters. I asked the front desk lady if I can buy some quarters and she said no. This hotel needs a change machine. Because I had to go out after midnight to find a store in a shady part of town, who also didn't want to give out quarters. The night time lady was not friendly. I said my card isn't working and she said it's the pad. I said neither is my app. She said it's the pad. Everytime she came to the counter she was talking on her phone not professional. There was a frog in the lobby near the breakfast area. The next morning breakfast was good and the gentleman working the breakfast hustled and I told him how great of a job he did. The only time I was acknowledge was when I was leaving and I heard morning. The pool is nasty green with slime at the bottom. So if you want a great Hampton Inn stay in Summerville, SC. Instead of North Charleston. I am only saying that because I was greeted so nicely. I have pictures of the frog and the nasty pool. But can't see where to...
