I give the management 5 stars, and I'd give him more if I could. But I settled with 4 stars, after factoring in the hotel drawbacks. The manager is there for you. He really cares about his guests enjoying themselves, and the ones who want to cause trouble can just move along, thank you. My young daughter and I were visiting Wildwood alone. One day a group checked in who believed they now could do whatever they pleased. They walked and talked at a volume more suited to a nightclub than the wee morning hours outside a hotel full of sleeping people. I was unlucky enough to have one of them attempt to start a fight with me at 5am when I opened my door to tell her to move back to her own room instead of yelling on her phone outside mine. This after a night of no sleep because of the rest of the group antics. I don't usually make a fuss, so I didn't call the manager in the middle of the night. I just grabbed him as soon as the poor man walked past my room. But my intention was to inform him we were checking out a day early because of this crew. The level of concern he showed for me and my child...he brought tears to my eyes. He immediately asked the other group to leave. He wanted so much for my daughter and I to continue our stay, but my little one was somewhat afraid after hearing me being yelled at by a stranger. She was actually worried we'd run into them on the boardwalk. So we ended up leaving. He alone is the reason I would go back and stay at Island Breeze. I give the hotel itself 3 stars, because at the very least the bathroom fixtures need updating. The pool isn't big, but in the deep end it has a ledge, so my daughter and I were able to get away from the jumping kids and didn't have to tread water the whole time. Honestly there's nothing special about the rooms, but are you visiting Wildwood to sit in a room? Probably not. The hotel is so close to the boardwalk you will hear 'Watch The Tramcar Please' in your sleep. So bring ear plugs! There's so much just a short distance from your door. The location is great for your boardwalk needs. The lighthouse is a beautiful walk about a mile away. And the hotel has pet friendly rooms! We...
Read moreI have stayed in Wildwood for many years. It is not a destination known for luxurious accommodations. It's a retro, working class sort of experience and that's part of it's charm. That said, there is an important distinction between outdated and dirty. Unfortunately, the Island Breeze Motel was both.||Upon check in, I immediately had to move my family from the assigned room on the 3rd floor to the 2nd because there was no WiFi signal on the 3rd floor. The hotel actually indicates free WiFi is provided in the office but doesn't guarantee it in the rooms, which is absurd in this day and age. Both rooms I viewed were gross. The furnishings were old, cheap, and badly damaged or broken. The window AC was visibly covered and mold and smelled accordingly. The bathroom floor was dirty with rubbish such as a complimentary shampoo foil seal strewn about. Alarmingly, the safety latch on the pool area was broken, which is a major safety hazard and liability. There are 4 grills in the pool area and not all of them are functional. The grills have obviously never been cleaned and at least 1 appeared to have seagull excrement inside. The pool itself has cracked and missing tiles.||My wife and I have stayed many places around the world and sadly this was the worst either of us could recall. I had to caution my children to minimize touching anything and I was afraid to use the towels. The staff was okay and but very young and not terribly friendly or welcoming.||The owner/operator of this establishment would need to spend a lot of money to refurbish the place to make it decent. Perhaps that isn't economically viable. I suspect the draw of the place (and the reason for the positive reviews) is that it is dog friendly, as we saw several other guests with dogs. I don't have a dog so that wasn't relevant. I absolutely would not stay here again and do not...
