The place was clean for the most part. They skipped cleaning behind the toilet and some of the shower tiles were starting to mildew. But overall it is really clean.
The owner is not a fan of kids, especially boys, even well behaved ones. From the moment we arrived her and her employee yelled at our group of kids with a bull horn and then not even 5 minutes later would hand out popsicles. At one point she was yelling at our kids for jumping in the pool meanwhile another group was practically drowning each other and she said nothing to them. It was very confusing for the kids and adults.
She also let a group of families blast music with expletives but if one of our kids yelled over the music she told them they were too loud for the other guests. It wasn't until another guest complained about the music that she made them shut it off.
After the 1st night we knew that we made a mistake picking this place for our hotel for the extended weekend. At night, and by night I mean 7PM our kids would look at the neighboring hotels and wonder why their pool was closed but the other hotels were still swimming and having fun.
The owner is also nosey and sneaks up on you while you are conversing. Their were many times I would be talking to the other moms and she would appear out of no where to chime in on our conversation.
The room was clean but the ac in the bedroom was freezing, even when we turned the temp up it made no difference. Plus the pull out sofa in the living room had only flat sheets so at some point in the middle of the night or next am you would wake up stuck to the plastic. The blankets in the bedroom were nice but the pullout had tan blankets from the 70's that were itchy.
To be fair if my husband and I stayed with no kids it would have been a different experience. However we are a family of 5 who went on vacation with a few other families with children ranging in ages from 4 to 14 and although they are not angels they are very well behaved KIDS.
We are a group of responsible hardworking adults for saved for months to take our kids to beach blast and although we still had fun it was very disheartening to see a grown women behave in the way that she did towards our families simply because she pre-judged our group. It was not worth the almost 300 a night for my kids to be afraid of the owner and for them to keep asking me if we can go to a different hotel because they felt uncomfortable. We vacation a few times a year and my kids have never asked me to switch hotels during the stay before this weekend.
If you have kids keep looking for a different place to stay, the lollipop does...
Read moreThis is in response to Mrs. Genty's review. I am Denise the General Manager that spoke with Mrs.Genty one day before her arrival when she tried to cancel and said she had a fall and would not be able to make it, i then explained to her that the deposit was non-refundable the day before she was due to check in. She said to me well then Do Not cancel i will get back to you. She did arrive with her grand-children (who had a blast at the pool) and had a cane so i changed her room to the first floor for safety issues. She was in Room #106 that recently (May) was re-done. She walked into the office to my front desk girl and said nothing and handed the keys in and left the next day. She called days later and told me her complaints and wanted her money back and said that the room was disgusting and she was going to slam us on all the social media there is. I then asked her why she didn't come to the office for us to rectify her complaints (which when the room was inspected were not legitimate except the curtain was unhooked in several spots which if she asked would had been an easy fix) she said she just didn't want to be away from home any longer. I gave Mrs.Genty a full refund despite my knowledge that the room was inspected by me personally and only the one thing was wrong with the curtain. I did the full refund out of a professional courtesy but it was sad that she took her grandchildren home because they were having a Blast in the pool and Mrs. Genty herself was in the pool playing around with them, i noticed because i was concern due to her telling me she just had a fall, i wanted her to be safe entering and exiting the pool. Sorry for her dis-likes and it was unfortunate having a fall so close to her vacation but we did do right by her and she received a 1 night stay Free and a full refund. Thank you for reading my response. We would love to have the Genty family back again maybe in...
Read moreThis is a place like most shore motels in which you pay a TON of money not for the luxurious room (that is a joke) but for the proximity to the beach. Now keeping that in mind, there are two things about this motel to consider. First the actual motel and room, The rooms are small, ours was clean but in no way modern. The refrigerator had a hard time keeping items cold, the AC was SO loud that every time it kicked on I woke up. We could not turn it down or off because the person sleeping in the living room would die of heat (only one AC unit in the bedroom). The TVs worked but a ten inch TV is pretty small. The beds were terrible- lumpy and bumpy. The pool was nice and clean but closed by 7 PM in the heart of the summer....which brings me to the owner. She is very nice but she wants things organized, clean and controlled. I get that, at the end of the day I want to curl up with a good book and some peace and quiet. However, it is for that reason I am not running a motel in Wildwood. Kids are going to play, swim and make noise. If you have a patio with a BBQ adults are going to cook and drink a couple of beers. Basically, people are going to try to have a good time while on vacation. Locking the place down, patrolling the guests with a bullhorn does not make for a fun time. I understand that as an owner you want to make sure that guests are safe but there was no need to patrol everyone all the time, nor was there a reason to close the pool down by 7...
