Definitely not worth the price we paid. We arrived after a long drive and realized after reading other reviews that you do in fact have to go around the block to check in/out. Not a huge issue as it is waking distance but it would have been nice to know ahead of time. The room was blah. I wasn't expecting much but I was expecting more for the price. The room was pretty clean, it was sufficient for 4 people to stay. It's a block away from the boardwalk. No ocean view. The floors I didn't think we're dirty, but rather covered in sand. However, it's at the ocean. There is sand everywhere. I think just walking into the room from the parking lot we brought sand in with us. The pool was alright. Someone showed up after dark while we were swimming and turned the lights on around the pool. No the hotel light didn't work but there are enough lights from the hotel and street that lit up the parking lot. We didn't run into any problems with loud people at night. There is a place called Munchies right across the road that has pretty decent food for a decent price. Plus they're open 24 hours. The bathroom is outdated but it was clean. They have an industrial a.c. that sticks through the wall of every room right by the door. It's sufficient enough to cool the room down that I turned the temperature up and the fan speed down for the night and we turned it off in the morning. There was a flat screen tv. All the channels worked. As soon as you hit any button it brings up a message on the tv that explains how to use the remote and tv guide. We had to call the office to get the WiFi password. There is no phone to use in the room. Wifi password didn't work. I tried using capital letters (after asking and them telling us there weren't any) and it finally connected, however it still never worked because the signal was so weak. We didn't get a room with a kitchenette. We had a closet with two hangers in it. We found towels on the bed when we first arrived. There were two on each bed, one towel per person, and they were slightly larger than a hair towel. I suggest bringing your own towels. They did not provide any wash cloths either. (We also never asked) There was a set of shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom that were not even large enough to wash the hair of my seven year old daughter. There were two round thin bars of soap that we used to wash our hands in the sink. The parking lot is very tight. I had to move my car twice. First time was because someone parked over the line and caused a ripple effect down the line and the person who parked next to me left maybe an inch between our cars. I had to get in (very carefully) through the passenger side and slowly maneuver my way out from between two cars without hitting either of them. Then in the morning I took advantage that a few spaces were empty and turned my car around so when we did want to leave I didn't have to back out all the way through the parking lot into a somewhat busy street (during the day). There are some spaces along the sidewalk for the hotel (off the street) but there was never an empty one. They are also just as tight as the parking lot. When we were leaving to go home, we saw the cleaning crew. There was a woman with one small bucket and one rag.. and one man with only a broom going only to the rooms where people had checked out. Overall, it wasn't completely horrible. It's run down, but still acceptable enough to stay here. I think I would rather find someplace else, but if I absolutely had to stay here again, I...
Read moreThought it was odd when the office was closed at almost 12 and the only one open was a block away. Thought it was odd when they wouldn’t answer the desk phone, but texted me for check in. But then got over it when we finally got in touch with someone and they offered to clean our room first and let us in early. They had the room all clean and ready after an hour about, and then told us at the desk down the street that the worker just had to confirm the room on their phone. They didn’t want to contact the worker to confirm the room themselves because they were afraid the worker would get overwhelmed and quit on them. They (the owner and front desk manager) expressed that they have high employee dissatisfaction, as well as, a high turnover rate so I had to wait another couple hours until check in. When I told them that they said we could check in early, they looked at me like I was crazy, and then proceeded to tell me that if I slipped their worker $10, they would probably let me in early. I tried to find someone else who seemed more rational to explain my situation, but there was no one else to be found at either locations. Went back to the owner and front desk manager to be greeted with rudeness and treated as if they never offered to let us in early, and like they didn’t clean our room first to do so. They just continued to tell us that they weren’t asking their employees for anything due to fear of them quitting. When I replied with confusion and dissatisfaction the owner went from careless, clueless, and unconcerned to defensive, rude, and angry. After this response, we asked to cancel and get a refund so she called us petty for wanting our about $400 back and told us that was chump change. She then proceeded to go on about how she didn’t care that we were leaving because she was rich. I won’t go into the other rude statements she made, but she acted in this manor with our young children present. If I could leave zero stars for this place, I would. I highly recommend avoiding this place, and staying anywhere else. It’s cheaper and lower rated...
Read moreWe stay in Wildwood every year. This year, our schedule has been nuts so we settled with not coming down at all. We saw a deal for Birds of Paradise on Expedia and thought it was too good a deal to pass up for a one night visit with the family. The reviews were average and most complaints were ones we could deal with considering the price. Upon arrival, we learned the main office for this establishment is closed and all front desk obligations were being handled down the street at Sandy Shores. This was off putting simply for the inconvenience of having to check in at a completely different motel. The check in was quick but unusual. We entered our room on the third floor, where there are no elevators. (Reviews we read warned of this.) The room was definitely “cleaned” before our arrival, but not well. We went to the store to purchase Clorox wipes and Lysol to wipe down the room from top to bottom. This superficial cleaning made us feel better about having our little ones roam around the room. It did not correct the poor upkeep up of the room or the mildew on the ceilings. We went down to the pool that was not very clean and is not heated, despite signs that claim otherwise. We stayed for a short time, but guests were a bit rowdy, There is no management or staff at that location (since they are at the establishment down the street) so there is no one to enforce rules. We left for a few excursions, upon our return we had a little trouble with parking. Looking around the lot, at least half of the cars did not have motel tags, but again, there is no management or staff at this location to correct that problem. Lastly, checkout. I go down the street to complete my checkout. The door to that motel was locked and I was turned away from checking out. After some strange hand signals through the glass, I was able to check out. If my deductions are correct, there were three, kind but overworked, gentlemen managing two motels. The location was good, but not even the location could redeem this ridiculous...
