Very sad to have to write this review with just one star because up until our last day I was ready to give this place 5 stars and commend them on their exceptional professionalism pertaining to my sons need for a service dog due to his disability. When I called to let them know a few days before our arrival I wasn’t questioned at all about it and the women was very nice and accommodating and the same for when we arrived. The stay there went good the place was great right on the boardwalk and location was fantastic. Our service dog only alerted us to his illness a few times there and only really barked when the fireworks went off right outside our balcony because they were honestly quite load other than that he is the most well trained dog and we have never once had an issue with him in the 2 years we have had him. He slept next to my son and myself in our room while there and it wasn’t until the last night that apparently there was an Incident. Oddly enough the rooms on either side of us called at 4:30 to complain about our dog barking. Never happened. I am always on top of my sons needs and the other 4 people in the room didn’t hear him either so the people next to us were apparently woken up by the dog barking but the people right in the room with him didn’t hear anything and we are trained and used to waking up when he alerts us so I know for a fact it didn’t happen. When confronted by the owner, she was very much on the other customers sides. Well why would they both call she asked me. Well maybe it was a dog outside I said. Every response from her was against me and she said she didn’t want to lose customers. Well I’m a customer and she didn’t seem to care about me why I wonder because maybe they just didn’t like the fact that we had a service dog with us. Then she tried to say she never saw my son when he was with us and the dog at all times. Only time was when we took the dog out to do his business. I don’t know if both units actually did call or that was just said to make it sound better but something was definitely off. I explained to her. That yes the dog does bark to alert us sometimes but not that long and not that load. But there was no way he did that when he was sound asleep with us and everyone else in our room. She just wanted to bring it to my attention for her customers but it’s ok to make your other customers feel unwelcome because they have special needs. I understand. And why didn’t she come up and knock on our door or call up to make us aware or to check for yourself if it was true? Wouldn’t anyone do that? I just hope that if we do choose to stay here again that there isn’t any issue because we have a service dog because that would be illegal.Furthermore I remembered I had my security camera I bring with me recording at all times to record my son just in case so I can go back and review incidents and watched that camera from 3:45-5:00 and not once was there even any movement in the room and the do in question was sleeping peacefully on the bed. I will be sending her these video links so she can see for herself that those individuals or someone was lying. Thank good for that camera!!! But other than that and for someone stealing my boots that I left in my room accidentally which I know for a fact I did in my closet and when I called she said they didn’t find any but I know they were there but I’m more concerned about the service dog issue because it just ain’t right to single out individuals with. Disabilities and care more about other customers. Everyone should be treated equal. I’m sure the response will be on the defensive as our entire conversation was but hopefully this just makes them more aware of how to treat individuals with special needs. Even if our service dog did alert us and barked, nothing should’ve been said. That’s his job. You wouldn’t say something to someone if they were woken up by a mentally challenged person or Autistic person Same rules should be...
Read moreMy family and I have stayed here forever (my parents talked about staying here before the fire many years ago)… we have been coming for years myself, mom, dad, brother… my parents have both passed now sadly young however my brother and I continue the tradition and bring our total of 6 kids here ranging from 6 weeks old -10 years old. Location is the absolute best in all of wildwood, the largest arcade is right next door steps away, the beach access is right out the front door, and don’t forget to wash off in the back under the hotel… you’re basically on the boardwalk when you step out of the hotel. Parking is ample and so stress free, I love the owners (I believe it’s a mom and daughter that are mostly there) but we also absolutely love the older guys at night who keep watch and always say hello to us and comment on our goodies we won from boardwalk (lol the one guy always jokes with my husband and tells him he looks Like ice -t every year!) the pool Is awesome and on the 4th floor overlooking the boardwalk… with a nice size jacuzzi as well & plenty of lounge chairs! The rooms are very clean & spacious furnishings are basic but you have everything you need. 1 elevator and yes it is there are stairs if you like. Our new fav is splitting the giant room with 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms outside patio overlooking boardwalk and beach! Perfect for 2 average size families! - I have to comment on the bad reviews, no smoking is true but you can’t smoke at most hotels! There’s a spot right outside the front door w/ashtray don’t be lazy go downstairs to smoke! The ladies at the front desk are not rude I believe they are protective of their hotel which is awesome it’s family owned! Hey- they called us about the popcorn on the top floor we let the little kids out there and it was blowing away and once they saw the seagulls take it they thought it was funny -whoops! It happens our fault! Pricey??? Heck no! Not for the amazing location and experience totally worth it! I hope we forever are able to continue our tradition of staying here for many generations. Thank you so much for maintaining this gem! - the lebrons...
Read moreWe just returned home from a two night stay at the Shore Plaza. Sadly it was not a very good experience. The bed mattress in our room should have been thrown out a few years ago. The following morning I told the desk clerk how awful the mattress was. She said she would report to management. This was at 10 AM when we returned from the beach the manager/owner was at the desk and I said did you get the report that the mattress was almost impossible to sleep on ? Instead of saying to me , “yes I want to thank you for that and we will do our best to make sure that this is taken care of and no one else has to endure a horrible night sleep. “||Instead, she looked at me and said what do you expect me to do about this now, do you expect me to go out and buy a new mattress ? I was certainly taken back by that attitude, and sadly it then descended into a bit of a verbal volleyball back-and-forth. The manager owner never really acknowledged that I wasn’t able to sleep on the mattress all night instead just kept saying there’s nothing I can do. I’mnot buying you a new mattress. We’re totally full. I can’t move you. I asked her to come and sit on the bed! You would thought I asked her to fly to the moon. The response I am NOT doing that.! ||I rarely write reviews but in this case it’s warranted. I think vacation hosts” assume that people come and they go and they never be back so what difference does it make if the accommodations aren’t the best? ? But I rented two rooms and a total of about $1200 What did I expect? Clearly not being verbally abused but rather a sincere I am so sorry and we will take care of that for the next guest. Thank you for letting me know. Instead I was berated and yelled at. As I told her very poor customer service. Wow she more to say about that.. I can’t just go out and buy you a new mattress. What should’ve been a very pleasant weekend with my grandchildren, turned into a shaking,...
