LONG POST BUT WORTH THE READ: Get ready for the biggest scam on the Jersey Shore. My husband and I did extensive research on where to stay during our visit to Wildwood. We found Hotel Cabana through a 3 party search. It looked pretty nice so we went to YouTube to see if any reviews have been posted. There were a plethora of videos boasting this beautiful and newly renovated hotel. The pictures and videos were amazing so we booked 2 nights. The 2 nights were $656.72, which I didn't think was bad given the location. Ok, now on to the scam. #1 The parking: there is very LIMITED parking at this location. The parking only accommodates about a third of the guests. Other guests are left on their own to scramble for parking on the street or at a public lot at your own expense. Then you have transport your luggage the distance from wherever you were able to find a spot. Speaking of expense, if you are lucky enough to get a parking spot on site, the cost is $15 a night which was not advertised. Moving onto the room. The pictures and videos are not a true representation of the actual room. We booked a King room. The square footage of the room is 130 square ft. That's it! The bathroom was an absolute joke. You can barely get in the door before bumping into the sink. The sink extends so far out that you have to squeeze through a 12 inch narrow space between the sink and the wall to get to the toilet on the other side. The toilet area was so tight that I had to open up the shower sliding glass just to use it and to prevent my knees from being smashed against it and I'm only 5ft. 4in. Imagine my disgust when I opened the shower door and found sand and hair in the shower. The glass doors were unclean with the evidence of soap scum on it. The rest of the room visibly looked clean on the surface, but when I turned back the sheets I found hair and a brown stain. This was it for me. All this occurred during the 1st 20 minutes of entering the room while my husband searched for a parking spot. After he returned and he confirmed what I saw, we decided to leave. My husband returned to the office and told the man at the desk that we would not be staying and why. Before returning to the office we went onto the website and our email confirmation to see what the cancellation policy stated. It stated that we would be charged 1 night stay if we cancelled. We were fine with that and ready to leave. The guy stated that we would lose our entire payment. When we confronted him with the documented cancellation policy he then stated that it is out of his hands and that we would have to email the manager to get the refund. My husband responded that earlier you told the guest ahead of me that you were the owner. He told my husband that he was mistaken and that he never said that. End of story, we took the loss and left. We found public parking for $10 and decided to enjoy the boardwalk for the day/evening and left. We drove a little over an hour away and stayed at a Hampton inn using our Hilton Honors. The next morning after a great breakfast at the Hampton inn, we enjoyed a day at Asbury Park. This place is garbage with a mediocre paint job and new floors. The pictures and videos advertised are probably of their best rooms and do not represent the entire facility. This place does not have any amenities either besides a very small pool which was packed when we visited. SIDE NOTE: My husband found parking on the street about a 5 minute walk from the room. He came to the room to get his phone to pay online. After deciding to leave we returned to the car approximately 10-15 minutes later. He received a $50 parking ticket. Yes, this has been...
Read moreThis place was nice except for a few things in the room. What we didn't like the most was, they charge $15 a day for parking. I never heard of any hotel charging anybody for parking at their building. I don't know if it's a money scam, if they're trying to make extra money for the renovation, but that totally turned us off. Plus, if you want to check in early, it's an extra $25. If you want to stay in your room later than check out time, it's $25. Maybe for those fees during in season, but this was off season and there were maybe 10 people staying at the place, to charge extra to get in a room early that was already ready to go? They didn't have to get it made to clean the room to get it ready. It was already clean and ready! What would be the difference if we went in at 10:00 in the morning or 3:00 in the afternoon? Nothing else was getting done to the room. Again I think they're just trying to make extra money. And I asked for the view upstairs of the boardwalk and water and those rooms were ready to go and they're more money off season and they are the exact same room that I stayed in. Nothing is different from those rooms. I thought maybe they had a kitchen or bigger room or something elaborate in them, but they were the same rooms and you're charging that much more money to be on the boardwalk view? In season,, they are charging $300-$400 a day for those rooms!!! That's just crazy!!! Again for the same exact room as what I stayed in... And one more thing, I like it but then again I don't like the idea. They allow dogs all year in season and off which is a good thing I guess for dog owners. But what about the people that are not dog owners that maybe do not like animals or are allergic to animals? I know that there are some good dog owners and I also know that there's very dirty and sloppy dog owners. They let the dogs sleep all over the beds. They slobber they're all over the place and my question is after that how well are they cleaning those rooms to me? You would have to scrub it down and I don't think that they are doing that after dogs leave. I for one like dogs. But I don't like dogs all over the furniture. Some people do some people don't. Personally. If I was them I would open up certain rooms for dogs and other rooms for other people again, They have to be concerned about people with allergies!! And how thick are those walls? What if people leave their dogs in the room while they go out and the dogs do nothing of a bark? I think this place could be a nice place to go to. I just think they need to change a few things... I'm not trying to put the place down. I realize that they have just opened this season. I am just letting the people know what to expect when they go there.. I wish them...
Read moreWhere do we begin...Parking - not enough spaces for the number of rooms they have, between 2 buildings, and you have to pay per day if you even get a space. Luckily, H/C parking was free, on street. Despite the accommodations listed on the website, the rooms are far from it. If you're in a wh/ch, good luck getting into / out of the room, let alone around the room. There's no elevator, stairs from ground level and up, railings not sturdy to hold onto, and thresholds into the rooms that are trip hazards for non-disabled, never mind wh/ch users. The bathrooms were a nightmare! I was put in one H/C accommodating room that at first glance was acceptable but then I checked the bathroom. Yes it had a shower, but even if I could walk I wasn't squeezing through the 2" opening between the sink and shower door - that even eliminated the toilet use because I couldn't get to it! Thankfully they allowed me to switch rooms but I had to climb stairs to get to it, which were too high and not deep enough. I wish that was the worst of it. The bed sheets were stained. The USB ports were broken, but there was 1 functioning electrical outlet. In the second room we had for my mother, she plugged in a heart monitor to the only outlet in her room which was behind the bed. When she came back that day she found it broken because house keeping slid the bed too far back and bent the plug almost 90 degrees. The bathroom - I got to use the bathroom, with the door open because it hit the end of the elongated seat before it closed all the way. The tub, not H/C accessible without bars to hold onto, also didn't have no-slip grip tape. When I tried getting up from the toilet I fell and the tp roll dispenser broke off the wall. Two towels and two wash cloths per day, but no where to hang used, unless you wanted to hang them in the sleeping area. The TV was a joke - YouTube, Netflix weren't accessible. No other channels or apps worked except Freeform, in Spanish only, unless you wanted to watch the English commercials. No wifi service. And no food, unless you wanted to buy water, popcorn or granola bars - which they gave you complimentary at check-in, the least they could do. There was blood stain on the bathroom door, dirty grit on the floors that left your feet black, and a gap around the A/C wall unit, allowing bugs in. The pool was nasty, and the depths mislabeled. Best feature was the proximity to the Boardwalk, the beach, and the arcade for my son. I couldn't get to the supposed rooftop oasis so I won't ralk about that, but I will not be back. It's not worth the $200 deposit, the $160 per night, nor the $20...
