This place has a super small town feel + gold rush energy. I think the people that work here are very friendly and you can tell the customers are super loyal and come here multiple times a week, if not every day! The lovely woman at the front highlighted the specials to us, which sounded good, and let us know it’ll take a while for food and drinks, which was more than fine with us. I ordered a drink and the woman said she has no idea what that is but she’ll make me something fruity and that was fine with me! It was nothing to write home about but I enjoyed the interaction all the same! My friend had the chicken garlic wrap, which she loved! I ordered the potato skins and the Baja tacos. The potato skins are slices and I appreciate the size! The flavor was completely absent though but still enjoyable. The Baja tacos were probably great but before I could chew on my first bite, I had hair in my fingers and in my mouth. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tell you what it tasted like, but I will admit I didn’t mention it or send it back. I do believe they would’ve remade it tho; I was just in the mood for something packaged at that point. There was a gentleman at the bar that was staring incredibly hard and kept asking where we were staying, like the specific lodge name, which doesn’t reflect on the business itself. However, he had a conversation with the woman working about Mexicans and the woman mentioned how mean Mexicans are. I know there are people that dont mind that stuff but I do, particularly in a small town like this, so just mentioning it in case you’re of a certain background and are looking for a place to eat comfortably.

My wife and I stumbled upon this hidden gem on our last trip to yosemite. I cannot believe that it has taken us this long to find this place. I got the Barbecue tri tip sandwich and my wife got the bunny forage that was a portobello based vegetarian sandwich. The saloon is down 6th street and hidden below some of the other local businesses. It is not a very large place but is definitely memorable. The bartender was extremely friendly and gave us fantastic recommendations. There was a ton of local beers on tap and our food was absolutely delicious. The tri tip was smokey and the barbecue sauce was absolutely incredible with just enough heat and sweetness. I had a couple bites of my wife's Sandwich and it was also very, very good. We traveled to Yosemite every couple months and this is absolutely going to be on our stop on the way back. One of the locals highly recommended the French dip. And that is definitely going to be my next conquest when I come back. The atmosphere is definitely different with little nooks and crannies filled with hidden treasures but it just adds to the experience. I wish I would have gotten the bartenders name so I could give him the praise he deserves. He was extremely friendly and took the time to tell us the history of the saloon and even more about the food and drinks. Thanks for such a great way to relax after a great day in the park .....we will definitely be back.

Some of worst food and service I've ever had. Though it came with a smile, be it a patronising one.

This is an honest an fair review....regrettably it's a bad one.

Turned up at 9.15pm ordered 2x Quesadillas and a side of potatoe skins.

We had a drink while waiting, fine but plastic cups like we are at some old ladies picnic...

1030pm we still don't have our food.

We can see into the small kitchen and the man cooking (neither a chef nor a cook) is like something from Gorden Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares. He genuinely looked like he didn't give the slightest care as he slowly trudged around the miniscule space.

We asked... the bartender (maybe owner or manager) who fobbed off the question saying they are busy and had a big table (5 people) but food was coming.

1045pm he announces the potatoe skins have been cancelled but not to worry, its been taken off the bill... thanks for not charging me for the thing you can't do....

I explain we have been waiting over an hour, that any delay (or potential) was neither communicated at ordering nor anytime since and that we had been patient enough if it was going to be much longer we couldn't wait.

Laughably.... his response was... "a Quesadilla only takes 2mins" (why we ordered them)

I said I know but we had been waiting an hour, he said we are just doing a table before you then it's yours, should be just a couple of minutes

Gets no less funny when I tell you the food didn't arrive until 11.10

All food (at least that night) is served in single use polystyrene (and plastics), maybe out of laziness... but like who cares about the planet? Right? (maybe there was an issue that night that meant no washing facilities but it was a cheap and grim serving experience)

Leaving to eat and head back we tried to eat the food but it was utterly inedible.

We were starving hungry after a long day hiking and a stupidly long wait for the simplest food, yet it was utterly inedible.

Ended up giving it away.

The decor was cool, nice patroms, saw another table wait 15 mins for a bit of dressing to go with their food.

Felt like the antithesis of how a bar and restaurant should be run. The bartender/manager/owner corrected us hard when we asked on arrival if they were doing food... that it was a restaurant... turns out maybe he was joking or he's never been to a restaurant and doesn't know what one is.

Zero service Zero communication about delays or issues Zero quality Atmosphere odd but OK, nice people in there and he seemed to know the locals which is nice to see. Menu is chaotic and poorly laid out.

Would I go back ? Not for food at all. Even if it was free.

I'm sure it's fun for a drink but beer from a can or plastic cups... bit low rent.

Now I know from the other reviews, he will come back and argue but why would I say anything negative unless it was negative.

Go to 1850 or Don Ruben's just make sure you're there before they close so you don't get...

Don't let the three star overall rating mislead you. If you love dive bars (and I do) then this is the diviest dive bar in town and it's for you.

Caveat: This review is not from a current visit. It just slipped under my review radar for a couple years.

Why 2 stars on the food you ask? Well, because I'm being generous. I decided to take my dive bar loving friend from Colorado to this place for a late afternoon bite and some beers. There were four of us in total and we walked in and grabbed a table. About ten minutes later we were offered menus. About ten minutes after that we walked up to the bar to order drinks and food. There were no other people sitting at any of the tables. Just us. But the server/bartender didn't feel the need to take our order. Fine, but let a table know you're not going to serve them at the table you brought menus to. We finished our beers about a half hour later so I went to get another round and check on the food. Hadn't even been started yet. I was told that the kitchen is inadequate and that's why it was taking so long. We cancelled the order and left to eat elsewhere. So, you see, the food rating may be a little unfair. We didn't get to try it. We were the only people ordering food in the place...

Three stars for service because we did get our beer. And the staff, if a little incompetent, are good, friendly people.

I absolutely love the atmosphere. It's cozy and full of personality as if the bar itself is a living entity. The walls breathe history. The pool cues were all bent, hence the four stars instead of five for atmosphere.

Owner: You said in your reply (and I do appreciate the reply) that you "definitely strive to be better than average overall and and below average on food." You did just that. If I could give a 3.5 star rating, I would.

I'll be back and will update this review accordingly. Readers, keep in mind that the experience of just sitting in this place and sipping a beer is well worth it. Dive bar is as...
