Visited this restaurant on a recommendation. We had been in the area visting Yosemite for the past 3 days. Cancelled a reservation at the Magestic for something closer and for local support. This was our last evening in the area before moving to our next destination and were looking for someplace special. The on-line description was simple but 'elegant' dining. For our first two wine selections, they were out. Ok, so we adapted and chose something else. Odered an appetizer, 1 crab cake for $11. Ordered entrees, they arrived with dull knives. I shouldn't have to chase a tender filet on my plate! My husband ordered a New York strip steak for $27 and myself filet mignon $42. My husband requested new steak knifes, one was brought for him and not for me, we requested again for another steak knife. We finished our dinner and orderded a chocolate blackberry cream dessert to share. It arrived and turned out to be a chocolate mousse with whipping cream & 3 blueberries. When inquired, about the dessert we were told by the owner it contained a blackberry syrup in a chocolate mousse, which was not what we expected. We thought we were getting real blacberries in a cream sauce as described. We paid our evening and were leaving when confronted by the owner outside of the restuarant about our experience. She stated they were 'casual' dining not 'fine' dining and expressed that we were expecting too much. But the description online of the restuarant was 'elegant ' dining. $42 for filet mignon quantifies as fine dining to us! She made us feel like we were wrong and she was right. She made no effort to make things end on a favorable note. Her parting words were, ' hope you have dinner somewhere tomorrow that knocks your...
Read moreTAYLOR IS A ROCKSTAR! My mother and I called Savoury's about 3 minutes before closing time(which i felt very very bad about doing that to their awesome staff). I talked to Taylor and even though they were supposed to be closing she welcomed us with big wide open arms. She sounded very delightful and polite on the phone, but i wasn't sure how things would be once we got there since they were supposed to be closed. Well, Taylor put my fears to bed instantly! I've traveled quite a lot and this was BY FAR the best service i have ever received anywhere! Very attentive, very polite, great conversation, honestly, she made us feel right at home. I just can't say enough great things about her. Oh, and the food was awesome! We both got the Filet Mignon w/caesar salad and a baked potato and loved every bit of it! I will say this, the whole staff seemed awesome and we thank every single one of them and are very appreciative of their service, but Taylor YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR! Thank you for making a great trip even greater! We will definitely be stopping by Savoury's the next time...
Read moreSavoury’s is one of the few restaurants open for dinner on Sunday nights in Mariposa. We had a party of 2 at 6:00 pm and it was packed! Even though it’s fine dining, the dress code very casual! There were people in shorts and flip flops. They definitely cater to the crowd who is in town for Yosemite.
The bread was perfectly crunchy on the outside and warm and soft in the inside. It’s a little ridiculous that they charge for additional baskets though.
Here’s what we got: Surf & Turf ($34): So good!! The steak was perfectly cooked and so tasty. The shrimp was also very delicious. It came with green beans, which were also good. The herb quinoa rice was great too. Sesame Salad with Chicken ($19 on menu, but charged $18): Super good and a big portion too! The chicken was also perfectly cooked. Both meals came with the soup of the day, which was Cream of Cauliflower Soup, and it was so good!
Great service! We got our food in a very timely manner. Great food and very reasonably priced....
