What i liked about this hotel was its location to Yosemite is good. It took me 35 min. to get there on a Sunday in April during the off season and there was little traffic on Hwy 41. My return from Yosemite took a little longer at 1hr 15 min.
What i didnt enjoy was the very slow internet in the hotel. Streaming is spotty. Videos stop playing every 20 min. My sons gaming had him frustrated on his ipad and the nintendo switch was not playable online. When turning to the television it was frustratingly slow to operate. Switching channels became so frustrating i gave up on it. So i guess bring some cards or board games for entertainment? I asked the front desk for faster internet b/c i often get upgrades due to my Marriott status but received a flat “cant do anything for you” in response. I tried streaming from my hotspot on the telephone but it was no better (Verizon).
The beds are very hard and all of the pillows are soft feather like pillows. I cant confirm whether they are feather, i know some of you have allergies. My back was very sore in the morning and i had to spend 30 min stretching to relieve the pain in the morning. My daughter and son had the sam experience so its not just me.
The complimentary breakfast was mediocre, its the standard light continental type with bagels, breads, muffins. Oatmeal, waffles, overcooked eggs and sausage. They did offer vegetarian sausage in addition to pork sausage which was appreciated. I got one cup of coffee but they only had one carafe and had trouble keeping it full so it was drained as soon as they put it out.
The staff was hit and miss. One concierge i spoke to was very sweet and helpful when i asked for additional towel’s. Another i spoke to whom i think was the manager had a passive aggressive attitude and wasn’t really helpful. Left me feeling like i was on my own.
I didnt try the pool or the gym so i cant speak to those but the hotel seems like a newer one in Oakhurst. Built maybe within the past 10-15 years. Its not a very big town so the hotel is on the main street with everything else in close proximity. There is also a Starbucks down the street that satisfied my coffee desire in the mornings. Restaurants raunts are pretty good as well except for the Denny’s next door but thats another review.
Hope this helps you make...
Read moreI’ve stayed over 500 nights with Marriott, and unfortunately, my recent 3-night stay at this property was one of the worst experiences I’ve had.
When I arrived around midnight, the front desk representative—who appeared to be untrained—told me I owed $150 for the stay, even though I had booked the entire stay using points. I showed her my reservation confirmation, but she was unhelpful and unable to resolve the issue. The next morning, I spoke with the manager, who confirmed that it was a mistake and assured me he would fix it, acknowledging that my reservation was points-only.
To make matters worse, I was placed in a physically accessible room that I did not request. I was told this was an “upgrade,” but when I asked for a different room, I was informed there were no other rooms available, so I had no choice but to accept it. Because of the bathroom’s layout (physically accessible), the shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor. I requested room service to address the issue, but it was never provided. When I followed up at the front desk, I was told room service was not available. It was only after asking again another day that someone finally responded and recieved room service.
The internet did not work for 2 out of the 3 nights, which was incredibly inconvenient. The breakfast options were also disappointing—there were no hot vegetarian or vegan options. The choices included eggs and sausage, and even the waffle batter contained eggs, leaving nothing substantial for vegetarian or vegan guests. Additionally, several items were out of stock, including yogurt and brown bread.
Lastly, the hotel charges $12 per night for parking, which seemed unnecessary considering there was plenty of open parking space available.
Overall, this was a deeply disappointing stay and far below the standard I expect from Marriott. I hope management takes these issues seriously and makes improvements for...
Read moreBeing disabled, you want a safe place to stay that's close to home. During Ca storms and power outages there were people who had to be moved from their homes. So they sent us to a hotel. We have rechargeable backup batteries for important medical equipment. Those backups died after the first 24hrs without power. We don't have any generators. PGE and 211 decided to try and help out. They put myself and my daughter up in the Fairfield Inn. Rooms are basic. We were there a total of 5 days. Not once were we checked on by anyone. No housekeeping. We had to go down to the front desk and ask for toilet paper, tissues (because the box of tissues in our room were soaking wet), half the available amenities were not even in the room. I was charged a twenty dollar per night holding deposit. I had no car there due to the snow had buried it. And a few employees went out then came back in reeking of Marijuana. Which caused me a bad headache and nausea. Leave that stuff at home. On check-out day, I was having trouble getting a ride to come to pick us up when power was restored. I asked for a later checkout. I was given one hour. Most other hotels I've been in will give 3 hours and depending on the situation a little more. The hold on my account, was told to me to be released upon check-out. I was told that the hotel (merchant) had to settle and then the hotel manager told me I needed to contact the bank. This was 10 days after check-out. And the manager also tried to tell me that we only stayed one night. I have receipts showing the 5 days. One of those was emailed to me by the hotel. Hopefully this review will be left for a truth and not deleted by...
