It was our first time visiting Yosemite. Everyone says that they would rather stay closer to the park, but my experience at the Best Western was remarkable.
The Best Western is conveniently located in Oakhurst, a small town that has everything you need: restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, and more; all are a short distance from the hotel. Admittedly, the hotel is 30 min from the Park, which is definitely annoying if you don't like driving. I didn't mind the drive as it is a beautifully scenic route.
They provide many awesome amenities, such as the washing machine, dryer, free breakfast (one of the best I've had at any hotel), AC units, TV, Keurig, pools, and more. The rooms are very clean and spacious.
The last reason why you should stay at the Best Western is the reason that I decided to write this review- customer service. I have not met a single staff member that wasn't thoroughly helpful and genuinely friendly. Nick, one of the night time lobby workers, is a gem of a human being that helped my family a lot. He assuaged our worries of about the park with insightful and detailed answers to our questions. I also had the pleasure of meeting 2 cleaning workers who were very friendly.
The cleaning staff worked above and beyond to help me with a mistake I made. I was feeling ill and decided to stay back in the room while my family went for breakfast. A cleaning lady came to service the room and I asked her to take out the trash. She noticed a large brown paper bag that had plastic boxes spilling over the top. She asked if it was trash and if she could take it away, to which I replied "Yes, please." My family comes back to the room 30 min later and my mom is looking for the brown paper bag. I told her that I thought it was trash and told the cleaning lady to toss it. She started to panic because we had some semi-valuable items in there. The cleaning staff left there trash bin near our room while they were on break. We rummaged through it but did not find our bag. We then called the front desk who diligently worked to help us. Some staff members came to our room, asked us a few questions, then told us to wait in our room until they return. We waited in the room for 15 min minutes and the lady miraculously returned with our bag.
This is the kind of service you can expect at the Best Western. I'm grateful to everyone and everything that made our stay a memorable one. I will undoubtedly recommend anyone visiting Yosemite National Park...

But we recently stayed at this location with the expectation that it would match the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere shown in the hotel’s photos online. However, our room looked nothing like any of the photos and left us in a position where we felt we would not feel comfortable sleeping there and had no choice but to seek alternative accommodations, staying at the Fairfield Marriott down the street. We were only in the room for 5 minutes.||||When we booked the room, we were looking forward to the bright, modern environment that the photos on the website showcased. However our room had just a creepy vibe, with every single light in the room using a different brightness light bulb, with every light bulb also having a different color temperature, the lighting was dim and harsh, casting an eerie tone rather than the bright, warm ambiance we saw in the online images. Even more creepy, all the framed artwork looked.... well.. just look at the photos.. and all the framed pictures in the room were all slightly crooked when we entered.. it just felt absolutely uneasing. Again, this is supposed to be a hotel room. Just look at the difference of the photos posted online, and the photos of our room. It just felt scary to be there.||||Given how eerily unsettling the room felt, it made it impossible for us to relax or even think about sleeping comfortably, so we had no choice but to leave. Unfortunately, the front desk could not offer a solution, so we were forced to find alternative lodging in the middle of the night, which was both stressful and costly. We never stayed in the room, but were still charged the full $200 for our visit, so ended up having to pay for a room we never even stayed in.||||We've had great experiences in the past at Best Westerns, and wanted to enjoy our experience there and make it the hotel for all our yosemite trips, but this experience made us...
