The Visitor center was supposed to be open until 4:30 pm. We had arrived at 4:21 and luckily we were just looking for some specific souvenir so we knew it was going to be quick. After hiking all day in the Yosemite NP the man at the counter "greeted" us with the words that they are closing soon. We bought the item and we left. It was 4:23. As soon as we left, they hung up the sign "closed". If you don't want to deal with customers/visitors, just narrow the opening hours even further. They give you information regarding Yosemite National Park, they also give you information about rural Madera County as well, which is arguably just as beautiful as Yosemite, while being just outside the park. And if you're unable to drive to or stop in Oakhurst, their website and social media pages are filled with information too. Not only are they very informative, they're also friendly.
