If you are like me, I read every review before making a decision on where to stay, so, if you want an honest overview of The Admiral's Inn please continue reading. I was traveling solo through Maine and was looking for an accommodation that was located near town, had parking, and yet still offered a quiet and beautiful surrounding.
The reservation and booking process was a breeze. (I had the pleasure of staying at the Inn the first four nights of my vacation and then returned three nights later for one evening).
Mark is the man I spoke with when booking and he presented me with multiple room options, was professional and communicated my confirmation clearly.
I arrived early (around 10am) and was greeted by Carleen at the front desk of the newer building. She informed me that there were showers, a changing area, spa, pool and hot tub that I was free to utilize until my room was ready. I cannot say enough about Carleen and her kindness. She genuinely wanted to assure I was comfortable and relaxed. Throughout my stay Carleen was very visible; I believe she is a very valuable employee at the Admiral’s Inn.
My accommodations were a king bed in the newer building~an adult area. My room was very clean, nice and cool, and the small refrigerator was ideal for storing water, snacks and leftovers from the amazing resturant in town. The sheets, towels and pillows were soft and appeared brand new. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps one or two added hooks in the bathroom to hang swimsuits.
After traveling north for a few days I returned to the Inn for one more night of relaxation before returning home. This time I stayed in the original Inn building (the big yellow house). This room was smaller than the newer building, however, it was beyond charming and comfortable. All of the room amenities functioned perfectly, the room was very clean and the hardwood floors and antique lamps added a special warm, relaxing feel. I truly love the yellow house.
A few extras: Both pools were a fantastic place to end a long day shopping and visiting beaches. They were always clean and large fluffy towels were provided to take to the pool. The fire pit was a great place to relax after the sun went down, and it was a neat place to meet some new friends. I also had to do a bit of laundry, and there are a simple washer and dryer on the basement floor~$1 each. Parking was ample, well lit and safe. And, the walk into town is really 5 minutes, straight down a nice sidewalk.
Lastly, I had the pleasure of meeting the GM, Chris, and an additional employee Ioan. Ioan was personable, informative and focused on customer satisfaction. Both Chris and Ioan were so enthusiastic and upbeat each time I ran into them. As I said, I was traveling alone, and every employee at the Inn made me feel so welcomed, safe, and comfortable. I will be back at the Inn next year, no question. If you are considering visiting Ogunquit, staying at the Admiral’s...
Read moreThis inn near Ogunquit beach has many great things going for it, but one major aspect of our stay keeps this review at 2 stars. Our stay was 7/12-7/14/2024. Ask for a room in any building EXCEPT Flagstaff (has not been updated like other rooms and suites).
Good things: -Location! Only a 7 minute walk to down town and a 10 minute walk to the beach. -Amenities: there are two pools, adult (16+) and family. We spent our afternoons at the adult pool and there was never anyone there. Clean space, fresh towels, cozy lounge chairs in both. Each pool area also has a hot tub. -Food: The pool bar was fun! Great snack and lunch options you could bring poolside. You could also bring your drinks to the pool as well. The had pool noodles to use. -Friendliness: Any team member I encountered smiled and said hello.
Negative: -Our room was incredibly humid and reeked of mildew. The rug, bed linens, and towels felt damp. Any wet beach clothes or shower towels did not dry on hangers, even after 24 hours. One member of our party had to put towels on the bed to sleep because it was so damp. We had reserved 3 rooms, 2 of which had this massive issue. Rooms Flagstaff 411 and 412. -We asked the front desk to have the manager inspect the rooms and we suggested they put dehumidifiers in the rooms. We are all New Englanders and very aware of the “old basement” smell and how to address it. We were told they did not smell the mildew or feel the humidity and we were dismissed. -There was so much dampness in these rooms that condensation was on the pipes and walls. It felt like a swamp.
They gave us a very small refund for the “issues.” It’s pricey to stay here, or anywhere in Ogunquit, during the summer, and feel this “answer to our problem” was not sufficient.
Honestly, put dehumidifiers in all the ground level rooms. We would have been...
Read moreThe Admiral’s Inn is one of the only pet-friendly options in Ogunquit, and it is definitely a better that some of the other pet-friendly hotels down the road. Having worked and vacationed in Ogunquit over the years, I have spent time at the outside bar, and had a one night stay in one of the nicer rooms. I always thought the Admirals Inn was a bit on par with the Meadowmere across the street so my wife and I booked a couple of nights over Labor Day with our dog. ||First the pluses: the front desk and service at the bar were very good. The bar food was actually not bad, and exceeded expectations. The breakfast was also very good with many options including yogurt, several kinds of toast and bread, granola and oatmeal. The location of the hotel is very good as it is steps away from town and a little bit farther walk to the beach. ||The grounds seemed to be well kept, but again there’s an overall feeling of age to the property.||Now the not so good. The room smelled of mold and just felt dirty. In fact, we both had allergic reactions. We were also on the first floor and there were no sheer curtains on the windows so we had to keep the heavy dark curtains closed so no one would see in. This made the room dark and gloomy||The pool was ice cold and the hot tub didn’t work. I did ask the front desk if it could be fixed, and I’m not sure if it ever was. There was also a infestation of bees which seemed to be everywhere. Of course, this is an act of nature and not necessarily the fault of the property, but I wonder if something could be done.||Given how much we paid for the three days, we did...
