Salon Loka — Local services in Ogunquit

Salon Loka did hair and make up for my wedding - 4 bridesmaids, me, my mom, and mother in law. Very friendly & easy to work with stylists. They did a great job on make up for everyone. I loved mine! Super natural and exactly what I asked for.

Hair was good too, except I didn't feel my hair was 100% the same as we did in the two trials I had. It took several attempts on the morning of the wedding, and the braid didn't flow into my bun how I wanted it. We got it almost right but there was not enough time to keep re-doing and make it perfect. I also felt there was too much product making my hair look a little greasy at times but overall the hair styling was OK. It did stay in place all day and looked good in most of the photos.

Communication prior to the wedding was difficult - trying to establish timing, setting up a second trial, trying to get an payment estimate, and pre-pay were all made more difficult by slow communication and lack of reply for weeks at times (I had to call and ask if e-mails were received). Almost all the wedding communication is done via e-mail with the owner, and she is often not in the salon when you call. I completely understand that they're busy with other weddings, but acknowledgement of some kind would have made me feel a lot better.

Overall it was a solid 3/5 .. I may consider another salon if I were to go...

Not only have I been a client of Kristyn’s for over five years but I was able to have her and Mackenzie travel to Boothbay Harbor as stylist for my wedding!

Our wedding consisted of myself, four teenage girls and any and all of my friends who were interested in make up or updos! We had some last minute requests which Kristyn and Mackenzie were more than willing to fit everyone in!

Kristyn was able to even calm me down when I expressed my concern of deciding last minute to completely change my hair style from our hair trial. After my final dress fitting I realized I would prefer my hair down instead of up. Kristyn reassured me we’d have plenty of time the day of to make it perfect and not to stress!

When I scheduled everything I told her I didn’t care to have airbrush makeup, in the past I haven’t liked it. Well...she showed up with this portable makeup airbrush and I watched her applying onto other people it was so airy and light and I realized I needed it! Once again she was able to...

My step mother and I went into Salon Loka for both hair and makeup appointments for a wedding in the area. We were quoted at $85 for each appointment and decided that was a great price. We booked the appointments ahead of time to make sure there were no issues. Immediately when we got to the salon one hair stylist informed us that we should not request so much stuff to do because they had appointments after ours that they had to get to. This should have been a red flag as they should be able to handle their own time management. Throughout both appointments all of the stylists were on their phones while having bad attitudes or snarky remarks about everything. They kept telling us that they had appointments after ours although we were the only ones in the shop. When everything was said and done each appointment was $130 although we were quoted at $85 each. This salon seemed very expensive for the quality of work they do and the overall poor...
