WOW!! I truly can’t say enough about the Dunes…as much as I will try my review probably won’t do it justice. The first thing I wanted to recognize is the amazing service from everyone our family interacted with. It was me, my wife and kids aged 8 and 6 who were on the trip. The wonderful people we met included Lynn, Tammie, and Katie at the front desk. Michael and Morgan who drove and picked us up from town multiple times. I extra need to recognize Michael who drove me into town one evening even though he was off! (I didn’t realize that until later and he was so gracious about ) Captain Laura who drove us on the special water boat and helped us with the kayaks across the tidal pond. She was so very kind and helpful. Truly everyone was kind and genuine. The property itself was one of a kind. Wonderful individual cottages with beautiful kitchens, bedrooms, screened in porches and living room. Ours was directly overlooking the tidal pond and couldn’t be beat. Included were numerous refreshments, drinks etc. The location was also the best. Directly on the tidal pond and which on low tide can easily be walked across to a beautiful and not to crowded part of Oguncuit beach. When it is high tide Captain Laura gives a really fun ride in her private water boat. As mentioned above also plenty of kayaks that my kids absolutely loved. The town with numerous shops and restaurants (along with Marginal way) is a short walk or buggy ride (free provided by the Dunes). The heated pool is also a delight and overlooks the beach for great views. I wanted to add the 630 s’mores at the firepit were also great! Also I almost forgot every morning a bag was left at front door with activities for the day, fresh coffee with the milk of your choice and the special homemade pastry of the day.
We were only there for 1.5 days but truly had a wonderful stay! Thanks so much to the Dunes and everyone we met there for a special one of a kind trip. We can’t wait...

My family stayed in a two bedroom cottage over the Columbus / Indigenous Person Day holiday. The Dunes still had their heated pool open along with kayaks and row boats available too. As the pictures show, you stay just across the tidal river from the beach. Its a great view and you can row across the river to the beach (or wade at low tide). The property has a nice playground for little kids, the pool, basketball hoop, shuffle board, and croquet setup.
The cottage we stayed in was dog friendly but didn't smell of previous canine occupation. It was tidy and seems to have undergone a recent renovation. The fireplace is a nice touch and the Dunes supplies wood. The kitchen in our cabin had a full stove, microwave, and fridge. You could easily save some $$$ (and stress) by eating a few meals on site.
The Dunes is very close to the shops and restaurants in Ogunquit or you can drive towards Wells for some great Lobster and Clam shacks. You are also a pleasant 10 minute walk from the beach across a pedestrian bridge. I took a few runs down to the beach into Ogunquit. If you wanted to walk to Perkins Cove from the Dunes (via the beach) its about 6 kilometers. Not bad but maybe a bit much for some. It is, however, a very scenic walk (or run).
The Dunes is quiet and pleasant. The cottages are small and I wouldn't recommend them for families with more than four people to a cottage. If your family needs space it might not be ideal either. That said, its a peaceful atmosphere and very chill. We would definitely stay again. Summer months may be a bit more boisterous but the cabins are nicely spaced out.
Overlall its a excellent...
Read moreI've never personally stayed here but I did have an encounter yesterday with the young man who drives the pontoon boat. Yesterday myself, my children, mom and cousin were crossing the inlet which started at our shins and by the time we got passed mid way the water starting rising drastically. My 2 daughters and I were stuck and I could not swim the rest of the way with the water up to my neck and my 8 yr old hanging on to me, we had tried but very quickly realized that I would not be able to make it with her. The young gentleman on the boat was dropping people off on the shore and I asked him for help. He didnt answer me. He then came back like he was driving towards us and I again begged him to please let us on and drive us the 100 feet to shore as the water again was up to our shoulders. He told me it was a liability as he laughed at us and continued to drive passed us. I screamed so if we drown you would be ok with that? And again he smirked and continued to drive off. This boy is a sorry excuse for a human being to sit and watch a woman with 2 kids in distress. My cousin who is 19 swam back and put my 8 yr old on his back and swam her to shore. I think you should understand the kind of people you have working for you and he represents your business. I can say I will never recommend anyone to stay here due to this incident. Side note the poor people he dropped off also asked if he could pick us up and also told them no. Also per Maine and Federal law, boaters are required to assist anyone in danger if they can do so without endangering themselves or the people on their vessel....And there was no danger...
