BUYER BEWARE - Part 2
As promised he took my ring to his jeweler and a week later Michael called to say they had a perfectly restored ring back. I was told the cracks were fixed, three rose cut stones were replaced and the center stone was good to go. I received it in the mail a couple days later and right out of the box found 2 missing rose cut diamonds (I took photos and sent them with a time stamp immediately upon getting the box from my mail carrier). The missing stones were not in the ring box and obviously didnât fall out during transit. Aside from putting it on my finger straight out of the box I have not worn my ring because itâs not fit to be worn right now. This is now double the amount of diamonds that were missing when they received my ring. I brought the ring to my local jeweler 2 days after getting it back (my jeweler was closed for the weekend and I received the ring on a Saturday) and they said: 1. The cracks were repaired, 2. One rose cut was replaced (not the one that had originally fallen out, 3. Two rose cut diamonds were missing and there were no marks or other evidence that an attempt to repair and replace the stones had even been made, 4. Nothing was done to the center stone which has half of the girdle sticking out into that setting which makes it risky to wear without fear of losing that center stone. After subtracting out the cost to repair the cracks and adding in the additional cost to repair the extra rose cut stone the new cost to repair is $330.
Stonehome has made multiple offers to refund our money and take the ring back, clearly not understanding that itâs an ENGAGEMENT RING with tremendous emotional value. Not something to just return. When I declined a refund they demanded that we send the ring back to them stating that my jeweler (who theyâve never asked anything about, never contacted or even looked up online) is not qualified to fix antique rings. My experienced jeweler is more than qualified. Stonehome (specifically Paul) will not vet and even CONSIDER working with my jeweler. Paul has also refused to disclose who the jeweler is he wants to repair the ring so we could vet him/her. Returning the ring and sending it back to a jeweler who couldnât get the job done the first time are no longer reasonable solutions to this issue. They had to send me an updated appraisal which I received yesterday and even that was still wrong. It still clearly says that the ring is platinum on top (thereâs NO platinum in this ring) and a note about the silver was added. The amount appraised also stayed the same which doesnât seem right given the cost gap between the two metals but Iâve yet to get a local appraisal.
I try to be reasonable and I believe I have been but I do not want to mail my ring again. I also donât have confidence in either their staff or their outsourced jeweler. There were at least 3-4 people who laid hands on my ring at or associated with stonehome and NONE of them bothered to look and notice that 2 stones were missing before sending it back to me. Now they are accusing me of damaging the ring myself. They also didnât know the difference between platinum and silver. And the BOTTOM LINE is they did not do their due diligence when we bought the ring. They did NOT tell us that the ring had not been looked at or examined by a jeweler. They sold as though it was free of problems and all set to be an everyday ring. Their failure to educate us resulted in us making an uninformed decision to purchase.
This experience has stolen from us. The story of my engagement ring is tainted now. I will never do business with these people again and I will not only not recommend them I will warn people to...
Read moreI live in New York so I was unable to purchase the ring in person. However, a friend of mine was able to go by the shop to view the engagement ring that I was purchasing, which was beautiful. This ring is a 14K yellow gold ring that had additional diamonds surrounding the center diamond. Rochelle was wonderful to work with but when the ring was delivered, diamonds were missing and the ring was not in the best condition. Work that had to be done to the ring included: re-tipping all 4 end prongs on the side where the diamonds were missing. My local jeweler also had to add metal to the center stone prongs because it was loose as well. He had to tighten all the stones and refinish the ring because it the condition was worn and had not been refinished. Paul was unreasonable to work with, as I offered to pay the full amount minus the charges to repair the ring. But he wanted me to mail my ring back, did not want another jeweler to look at my ring at all. I thought the most reasonable thing to do was just repair it close to home and he could just refund me the few hundred bucks. He made a pretty big deal about it so this went on for months - because I stopped the payment to get his attention. Well, I did get his attention and he finally agreed to refund the few hundred bucks and my partner loves the ring. Three stars because the experience was far from seamless; the ring was delivered with missing diamonds and worn and Paul was unreasonable to work with to ensure the ring was refinished properly so I could propose to my girlfriend...
Read moreI canât recommend them high enough! I have a diamond ring setting that was cut off a finger and the stones removed. I found it in my grandmotherâs jewelry when she passed 30 years ago. My husband wanted to repair it for my recent birthday, I took it to a jewelry store and was told they had to cut of the head and basically it wasnât worth it. Heartbroken, I found Stonehenge Jewelers online and took the ring to them. Paul and Mike were amazing! Immediately they loved my broken setting and showed me rings similar to show me what could be done. Paul personally chose my diamonds and it was restored to its absolutely stunning original ring. They were amazing! The turn around was quick and cost was very reasonable. They took care of my ring like it was their own. Wonderful store, wonderful people! I highly...
