We went to this restaurant based on the good reviews, and boy were we ever disappointed. Upon sitting down at the counter our first clue to flee should have been the person sitting next to me who was leaving nearly his full plate of food sitting uneaten. There were only three tables of customers, but it took us nearly 10 minutes to be served a luke warm cup of coffee and then quite a bit longer for her to take our order. While waiting for our Belgian waffles and crispy bacon, I noticed that behind the counter in the kitchen the cook was serving up “home fries” out of an open electric skillet that was being used as a warmer for the potatoes that had been cooked no telling how long before that moment. Those same potatoes sat in that open skillet with flies buzzing around it for the duration of our time there. Every now and then the “chef” would scoop some of the long worn out potatoes onto some unsuspecting victims plate. When plating our food, the chef pulled a pan of precooked, cold bacon from the top of a toaster and slapped a few pieces on our plates, then left the foil top open, also to the many flies buzzing around. Once we received our cold Belgian waffle with ice cold butter to put on it, I reached for the syrup and noticed a thick crust of old dried syrup all around the spout. There were other syrup containers on the bar where we were sitting, but each looked as though it had been a long time since anyone had bothered to wipe them down or clean them in any way. I ate my food, but it was just very mediocre. My husband did not eat his, and the waitress didn’t even question if there was something wrong with his food. I suspect she was accustomed to people leaving full plates, as evidenced by the person previous to us. We’ve never left a review like this, but felt that based on what we had read about this place that it was necessary to tell a true story and hopefully head others off at the pass before they waste nearly $50 on the worst breakfast we’ve ever eaten.

(Note: I write these reviews in part for my own nationwide business clients, for travel and activity inspiration. Follow me for more! I’m a financial planner - CFP®️practitioner - with a focus on retirement wealth strategies, primarily serving business women and LGBTQ individuals. #VirtualPlanningCraftedWithCare®️) We’ve visited this establishment twice now. My family and I now know to look for it when we visit Ogunquit. We love the food. It’s made fresh to order. The staff is friendly and the cooks are so personable. Both times we’ve eaten downstairs where it’s a bit more quiet. They will do their best with food allergies. I’m GF and they offer GF toast. That works because I can have an omelette. I recommend the New England omelette! In terms of price, it’s absolutely fair for the quality and size of the plates. In terms of mobility, that’s a tough one. Wheelchairs and strollers won’t do well here. You need to be able to handle steps. Otherwise, it’s family, retiree and LGBTQ friendly. Check them out! Especially if you like homemade jam and hot sauce.

We watched the sunrise on Saturday so decided to stop by the omelette factory on the way back to our hotel. The owner was there and was very nice and told us about his establishment. We did a to go order. I got the Kielbasa omelet and my husband got the corned beef hash omelet. The omelets were huge and very good. Went here cause 2 of my associates from where I work recommended it. Very happy one of my new favorite places in Ogunquit. Went here again on 8/26/2023 with my daughter and her friend on our weekend getaway. We got to eat downstairs close seating but cozy. As always never disappointed with their food. I got The Speedy which has chili, onion, pepper, sour cream and cheddar. My daughter got Rednecker which has sausage, bacon, ham, potato and cheddar Her friend got Chicken Fajita which has chicken, salsa, onion, pepper, american and sour cream.

Food was alright, but not best breakfast I've ever had like a lot of the reviews are saying it is. Had the very unfortunate luck of sitting in the open view of the kitchen. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the cooks are very unhygienic in the food preparation. No gloves worn nor hands washed during my visit here. Cooks are using bare hands to both crack eggs and then plate food for customer consumption. I'm amazed this place hasn't had any health violations and people haven't been seriously sick. It's food safety 101 to wash hands after handling raw food (especially eggs) or wear gloves when preparing customer food. I really hope they use soap and water to wash their hands after restroom use. Hoping I don't get sick from the poor food handling at the omelet factory. Management should train the cooks in food safety before allowing them to continue cooking for customers. There were also flies flying around where we were sitting (which was next to the kitchen). I will not be coming back and I hope you all read this review and take the warning that this place is unhygienic.

Responding to owner:

"FAKE" review filled with inaccurate facts? Future customers, if you enter this place, watch the cooks, you will see this isn't a fake review. Either you are ignorant as to what happens in your own kitchen or don't like when people simply put "best breakfast ever." My review was simply to inform others of my experiences there. I've worked in the food service industry and see what happens. I am plenty aware what I described happens everywhere. It's up to management and employees to ensure that the cooks are adhering to safe food preparation (you know hair nets/beard covers, aprons, gloves). I shouldn't have to bring an issue like this to anyone's attention. If you truly are the owner and were there the day I visited, you saw what was happening and didn't say anything to your employees. To help minimize flies, could close the door and set up traps. I'm just informing the public of my experiences. Up to future customers to...

Honestly? One of the best breakfast places I know. Top shelf omelettes and the French toast is amazing. We make it a point to go whenever we are in the area. Was unfortunately shocked with how I was treated today. I called this morning at 7:00 and asked if they were still doing takeout. Lady on the phone was wonderful. She said they were. I told her I would be there in a couple of hours as we were driving down the coast. She said to have a safe trip and she would see us soon. Two hours later we finally make it there and I call with my order. Whoever answered the phone was awful. He said they don’t do take out. When I explained that I talked to someone this morning who said we could order it he just questioned why I drove two hours. Really? That should be the ultimate compliment. He said that he wouldn’t do a take out order they were too busy. I can appreciate being busy on a Sunday. That is why I called ahead of time. So we were left having to find somewhere else after a two hour drive. I’m honestly not sure I’ll be back after his attitude. Was hurt with his response to me telling him how far we drove just to have their French toast. Apparently time to find a new breakfast place. The food is amazing but the restaurant is in the basement and so small. It’s too bad whoever answers their phones doesn’t value their business or believe in the quality of their food as...
