Toured the hotel in January looking to book suites for a June wedding. The lady at the front desk was super helpful and showed us all of the suites. We told her the plan for the guys and girls to get ready for the wedding in the rooms and wanted to be sure they were large enough. We asked and was told it would be no problem for the wedding party to get ready there. Cool. We booked and paid for 2 Executive Suites. Day before the wedding we checked in and the rooms were old but clean and comfortable. After dinner, we decided to relax in the pool and hot tub and decided to invite our son-in-law to come and bring our 5 year old grandson to join us. My son, his fiancé, my wife and I were in the hot tub when they got there. According to my son-in-law, they were stopped at the front desk then followed to the hot tub area where they were told the pool/hot tub was for paid guests only. That was a first for us after staying at literally hundreds of hotels across the United States. The gentleman maning the desk was kind of rude and said we signed the agreement. Apparently the tiny fine print said guests couldn’t have guests. News to us. After some questions and some pushing on our side, he finally allowed my grandson to join us. During this conversation we also found out we weren’t allowed to have guests in our suites unless they were named on the reservation. The reservation only allowed 3 names per room and no one but us 4 were staying the night. That put a HUGE kink in the plan of getting ready the next day. We paid for rooms we were being told we couldn’t use as we intended. The bride and groom were besides themselves as you can imagine. We talked to the gentleman at the front desk after getting out of the hot tub and told him who showed us the rooms and told us our plans wouldn’t be a problem. He said she would be there the next morning and it was up to management. We decided to go to bed and talk to her the next morning. So, the next morning we go down for breakfast before heading to the venue. The breakfast was average by the way. We were finally able to speak to the lady we originally toured with. After explaining to her what happened, she said each room was allowed up to 6 people total as long as the guests didn’t stay more than a couple of hours and checked in and out at the desk. If they stayed longer we could be charged a fee she said. Fine. Whatever. We contacted everyone but the bridesmaids, mom of the bride and groomsmen and told them they couldn’t get ready ant the hotel and explained what we were told. The 12 of us got ready with no further issues and went to the wedding. Afterwards, my wife, son and his new wife swam in the pool and relaxed in the hot tub. My feet hurt so I tried the jacuzzi tub in the room but it didn’t work. The next morning the lady from the front desk tried entering our room about 9:25 WITHOUT KNOCKING!! We had put the security lock on the door or she would have came right in. My wife happened to be up and opened the door. She was told the couple from the other room in our reservation checked out so it had been assumed we had left as well. I told her no, that they were leaving on their honeymoon and we were staying until 11:00. She didn’t even apologize properly for trying to enter the room we paid for without knocking or even calling the room first! After that my wife was done with the hotel and just wanted to go home. This experience has taught me two things, READ THE FINE PRINT. GET IT IN WRITING. Don’t take staff’s word for anything. Sad thing is, we only saw 3 other groups so the hotel wasn’t even busy! Ugh. We will never stay here again....
Read moreTravelling out of town on what was initially intended to be a quick there and back drive; things quickly unraveled and my girlfriend and myself found ourselves needing a place to rest and consume time.
In case you have been under a rock recently, the globe just averted a complete meltdown over a killer virus, and with society edging by on a comeback most businesses that constitute "entertainment " are obsolete to put it bluntly. So travel isnt exactly a number 1 on our to do list. Anytime booked out of town in a hotel is spent, well, just as it sounds, out of town, in a hotel. Thus mandating the need for a place that felt even more comfortable. I refer to them as "proper digs" where as you might say "homey."
A quick search and a stereotyping glance at the first available picture landed us at the Governor's Suites, which for convenience will become GS. What was never intended to be an overnight trip became one, and along with this transformation the attitude of my wife and my girlfriend's husband quickly turned sour, and understandably so, work has had me make this trip a million times and never over night. Enter GS.
With no reservations my girlfriend and I approached the front desk and had no problems securing a room. All the rooms enter from the ground floor or a subsequent elevated catwalk. The front doors all share the entry from the main lobby/ atrium. The heavy amounts of greenery seem impossible to sit as fittingly as they do. One particular semi tropical looking plant stretched from ground to 3rd floor easily and acted as a bit of cover for the glass elevator. Pleasant Spanish French fused design is sprinkled throughout the large vestibule almost putting you under the impression you should know what Spanish French fusion in fact is. Since this particular stay I have stayed in several rooms on different occasions, all rooms seem set up the same, entering through a "suite-like" living area with a small pullout couch, office desk, a larger than average mini fridge, and a small countertop area with the coffee maker. Set separate with a wall section jutting out gives way to the sleeping area. One or two beds, nice furniture one would normally expect sitting next to a bed or under a TV is dressed throughout, and floor to ceiling windows provide ample natural lighting. All the rooms separate themselves from the sink and vanity via walkway, some rooms seem to have double doors where as others have no doors at all, and the bathroom branching out further more in a separate area able to be closed off. The rooms are always clean and aside from some minor disagreements with hotel policy and employee maturity and attentiveness, the stays have always been pleasant.
Unfortunately the staff, and staff alone forced the demerit and prevented GS from earning what I would percieve as a solid 5 star rating on any given day. It has always been precisely what I look for in a hotel, clean, quiet, and...
Read moreI liked that the location was near the airport. I was easily able to pick my friend up from the airport the following day.||Following a 10-11 hour drive with no sleep, my children and I crashed out after arriving at the hotel.|||| Upon waking up, we realized that the room was filthy. The sheets had stains and the blanket had crusty residue that appeared to be regurgitated food. I could tell the stains were fresh due to the fact that they had a scent and the stains would lift upon wiping with a wet towel. I did take pictures so that the hotel couldn’t deny these accusations (as they have other reviews, on Google). The staff was combative when confronted and basically blamed me for the room’s condition do to an early check-in. The woman -who refused to give her name, printout of the extra charges, and refused to allow me to speak with a manager- claimed that the room (209) had been “running for a few days.” Meaning that they didn’t properly clean the room between guests. That’s disgusting. Previous guests could be ill. Previous guests could do drugs and leave remanence of fentanyl, ect.. i’m pretty sure the stains on the sheets had dead skin cells. I had two infants and two small children with me. This is not acceptable. Never, before, have I lodged a complaint against a hotel.||Because I booked my stay through a third party I submitted a complaint through them. They, the third party, contacted the hotel on my behalf, and apparently were met with a non-compliant, hostile woman who refused to give her name and refused to disclose the managements phone number. According to the third party agent, the concierge was unpleasant. The female concierge hung up on the agent multiple times, stating that the room was clean, even when confronted with evidence and documentation -I took pictures and recorded the conversation when I first confronted the front desk, who claimed to be “lower management”-.||I will be contacting my bank to receive a charge back. Luckily, customers have rights and because I took pictures, documented my times and interactions, and because Oklahoma is a one party consent state I should have all that I need to prove my claims.||I would recommend that the readers look up all the one and two star reviews for this hotel. They are pretty consistent. I would also like to point out that the management is combative towards every negative review that has been posted. That tells you a lot about the integrity of this establishment. I would recommend that you spend your money elsewhere. You will be provided with better, cleaner, safer accommodations for less money at a better managed establishment.||I will be posting pictures so that the management cannot deny my claims as they have with...
