First, I would first like to thank Micheal, Cheryl, Stephan, and the entire staff. My wife and I pointed the Mustang North from western Mass. with no reservations anywhere, no specific place in mind other than to be at the beach. After a "God-wink", my wife made a call to The Sandpiper and spoke with Cheryl at the front desk. They had a last minute cancel for the week we were hoping to stay. Micheal, the hands-on owner, introduced himself and said the room we had reserved was in the Rebekah Inn which is separate from the hotel. The Rebekah Inn has been in his family for many decades and the room we were reserving was the room he spent every summer when he was a child and it was beachfront facing. The Inn is amazing. It's like a step back in time downstairs in the commen area with furniture and aesthetics totally restored, the rooms feel so warm and welcoming. Micheal said that a lot of furniture is original from the 40's and was restored by local craftsmen. The Inn was spotless and kept that way by a wonderful young man named Stephan. He was respectful, helpful, friendly and a joy to chat with him. Thank you Stephan. Our room was perfect with everything we would need. The way that Micheal was able to restore the Inn while using all the original hardware and trim work is so special. Each room has a pedestal sink and mirror for morning rituals. We were initially a little hesitant because the Inn has common bathrooms for each floor but that was not a problem. There are 2 full bathrooms on each floor. Immaculately cleaned and stocked ( thanks Stephan and Cheryl). The shared bathrooms were not an issue. Don't let the common bathrooms scare you away. We never had to wait to use one. Get this...We came back to our room one afternoon from a morning on the beach and Micheal had left a fresh vase or fresh flowers, 2 glasses and champagne, and a card wishing my wife a happy birthday! Cheryl, at the front desk had overheard me say something about my wife's b-day and told Micheal and they did that! WHO DOES THAT?? A special thank you for that. ☺️ The beach is amazing. A bit chilly (68 degrees). Low tide allows for a 100 yards of flat beautiful sand great for walking or playing with the little ones. The Pier area and all of the excitement is a short 10 minute walk from the Inn. We absolutely will be back and plan on taking a week up with them for the Fall. Maine's foliage is beautiful and The Sandpiper is a great place to use as a hub for exploring the interior of Maine and the colors She provides. A heartfelt Thank you to Micheal and "the crew" for one of the best last minute decision we have ever made for a week stay anywhere. Be well and God bless....
Read moreChecked into sand piper hotel with a friend we just got a room so we had a place to stay while we went out for a few drinks , the lady in the lobby instantly judged us as if we were going to throw a wild party in the room and was telling us we are not allowed to bring anyone back with us we just planned on going out and enjoying our selves I was really taken back by this and it took everything I had to take my credit card out of my wallet to pay for the room but given the fact it was 10:00 pm we just wanted to go out but honestly if it wasn’t for that I would of happily gone to one of the 200 other motels in old orchard and wouldn’t have cared if I spent double on a room I just felt disrespected and was really disappointed I don’t plan on going back to this hotel but it irritated me enough to write a review I’m giving this place a 2 star review because the room was okay appliances could be updated but beds were comfortable but if you want to be treated with respect by the motel staff these people have zero for...
Read moreEveryone who works here made it excellent. Currently staying in room 23 til June 15th. Highly recommend this place. Everyone is nice and treats you like family. Ashley, Doreen, Allen, Mike and Cheryl (forgive me if I spelled anyone's name wrong) forgive me if I've left people's names out, have been wonderful. Absolutely amazing hard working pepole here and each of them have wonderful stories and backgrounds. I'm looking forward to coming here year after year now. I love the campy feel to this place. It reminds me of a camp my Mom and Dad had up on the St. Lawrence river. The fellow visitors are friendly and will let you know where the best places to have breakfast, lunch and dinner are. I've volunteered to cook the staff hamburgers and hotdogs. A way of saying 'Thank you' for being so friendly. The beach is right there. The sounds of the waves crashing at night will put you to sleep like a baby. The smell of the ocean is wonderful. This place is a little bit of heaven on...
