everything about Yara is beautiful and simple and uncomplicated yet elegant and inviting. The white arched door and the black stencil signage immediately draws you in you feel like you’re somewhere else the perfectly chosen that run throughout the courtyard and into the Casita and into the rooms are perfect. The location the actual site of the hotel if you were staying in the rooms on the left side three to and one what a wonderful dynamic view of the mountains and the pool. When you enter the Casita or the living room or the main house you feel like you have walked into your favorite living room , it smells amazing like Frankenstein and mixed with mint and citrus. The smell is soft and subtle yet inviting the desert colors of sand and bone run throughout and invite you to relax. Michael and his colleagues. they are the essence of Yara their warm smiles, the generous hospitality, the ease of their disposition. The command of their calm makes you feel like you’re at home. The temperature in the room is set at a perfect. 70 degrees and it is welcoming after a full day by the pool. The hundred degree days were cooled by the 80° pools and the umbrellas that are provided there is water outside waiting for you just steps away that Michael filled with ice on several occasions. And after the sunset and the Casita has closed for the evening, there are several places around the pool to relax with the good book as the sunsets and the night calls. As a solo traveler, there was nothing about this experience that gave me pause. Everything felt safe. Everything felt inviting everything felt like it was made for me to relax. And I would be remiss if I did not tell you how delicious the cocktails were amazing and the fruit was in the morning that greeted us with a wonderful spread of an assortment of bread and fruit and yogurt and overnight oats, avocado, cream cheese, and delicious. Fresh squeezed orange juice to go into mimosas were available every morning. And since I was traveling from the East Coast, I took advantage of my Jetlag got up early watch the sunrise and took a lovely run down the main strip just an easy 1.5 miles from the hotel is a beautiful downtown area absolutely worth spending some time. I could go on for so many more lines about the beauty of Yara, the wonderfulness of Michael and his colleagues the ease of Palm Springs the delicious recommendations for dinner, but instead, I encourage you to book your own reservation so that you can experience Yara...
Read moreOur first two nights in Palm Springs couldn’t have had a better start - Yara is the perfect, most peaceful place to unwind and fight off the jet lag. We arrived late so were given a code to the front gate and our room. The most beautiful scent of jasmine hits you as soon as you open the gate, magical The whole place has such a chill vibe. We were worried from the hotel Instagram posts that we would feel out of place not being under 30 and not influencers! However this wasn’t the case, there were a variety of guests staying there and we felt completely comfortable. It’s the perfect spot to relax during the day and sit around the fire pit in the evening. The whole place from the rooms to the communal areas is spotlessly clean |Positives: |very quiet - no loud music around the pool just chilled beats |Warm, clean pool|Beautiful aesthetic - calm neutrals|Impressive breakfast - help yourself to fruit, Avacado, bagels, yoghurts, juices etc all very fresh all very good quality |Plenty of pool space, loungers, day beds, no early morning rush to secure a spot! |Plenty of fresh towels put out each morning |Iced water available throughout the day ||(Slight) negatives |A little away from the main ‘hub’ of Palm Springs, ideally you need a car |Would have appreciated some information in the room re. Breakfast times, how everything worked etc we just ‘found our way’ with everything|Complimentary bags of ice and ice lollies available you just have to ask for these, we weren’t made aware of this|Poor environmental credentials - all the cups for water, coffee etc were disposable, lots of waste, didn’t see any recycling bins but might have just missed those|No food served throughout the day but we found a local sandwich shop, rang through our order and collected to eat by the pool, amazing sandwiches, one enough to share - The Sandwich Spot||We loved the Yara and wouldn’t...
Read moreWe came to celebrate our engagement, and decided to try Yara because our favorite hotel in the nearby area was booked and because of the reviews. Yara was fine, but not a place to celebrate a special occasion (unless you’re going for the Insta) and not any better than other hotels in Palm Springs offering the same or lower prices.
Yara’s property is tiny, so it’s a place that requires an understood social contract where everyone is on their most respectful behavior. There was one couple that thought it was ok to talk loudly on the phone by the pool all day (which is right on top of nearly all the rooms), take up 5 chairs for two people and their dog (there are hardly enough chairs to seat everyone staying at the hotel as it is) and no one bothered to say anything. A different couple with a dog had a very territorial dog that growled at other guests for literally no reason. Again, no “vibe” enforcement.
When we checked in, the woman at the lobby said that we could request room service daily (as is table stakes and standard at hotels), but then rolled her eyes at me when I politely confirmed that we would love to have room service daily and said “well you’ll have to ask the cleaning staff in the morning and they may not have time to get to you.” Daily breakfast was fine, but again have experienced better in the area for the same or better nightly prices. Very few parking spaces relative to the number of rooms.
Yara was fine and has a pretty property. If you can get rare alone time there, better (I will say some alone time at the fire pit was nice). We had nothing to rave about and expected more for the price, particularly since we came to celebrate a special time...
