Perhaps I shouldāve realized when our transfer driver mentioned they rarely bring families to this property and heād heard since the property management was taken over by AirBnB that things had gone downhill, this trip was going to have challenges. The actual unit we stayed in was fantastic. Very well appointed-well stocked kitchen, plenty of room, super quiet and each unit has its own hot tub. Apparently very few owners rent their units and thatās where the problems start. None of the outdoor seating areas that tout fire pits worked, none of the housekeepers that serviced the unit we stayed in speak english which isnāt a problem because I speak spanish and could ask for housekeeping items they forgot, but if you didnāt youāre out of luck. One of the housekeepers told me heād only been in the US two weeks. There was no one with him showing him what to do or to check behind. Not one day was the unit stocked properly. The owners in residence, while mostly very athletic, do not like renters in their community. Whomever was working at ck in has either never had customer service training or dislikes people and cannot be bothered by renters. Ski Butlers was absolutely fantastic, as always, meeting us in the locker room to fit us for our ski equiptment. The locker room was tiny, people were actually pushing others to get past them to their lockers at the end of the day. There was no attendant or boot warmers and this is the first āski in ski outā in which weāve stayed where you actually had to remove your skis and walk across a parking lot to get to the miniature locker room. When looking at properties in which to choose from, the property marketing material boasts itās mid mountain and is surrounded by a shopping village. Apparently, the shopping is either out of business or never opened because the only retail is the ski shop and restaurant which you have to have a reservation for. Speaking of reservations, weāve never been to a ski area where you couldnāt get dining reservations when every restaurant claimed to be booked but when we were able to talk our way in they were at least half empty. Obviously a wait staff problem. ZERO food delivery services were available also. Not impressed at all...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe just returned from a truly wonderful stay at Silver Star Unit #1303 and we canāt recommend it highly enough. Located at the base of the Silver Star chairlift, this unit allowed us to literally take an elevator up a floor, walk out the door and get onto the chair. It was less than a minute from couch to chairlift. This access point to the mountain also allowed us to explore all the various areas - including Canyons - and easily make it back before the lifts closed. It was truly perfect! The unit itself was comfortable for our family of 5 (kids are 17, 14 and 10) with a large central area with a kitchen, living room and dining room; and two bedrooms on either side of the living area. The master bedroom had a king sized bed, fireplace and huge bathroom. The kids were in a smaller room with two sets of bunk beds - which they loved because they each got their own bed - and their own bathroom. The unit was large enough for us to sprawl out, but still conducive to encouraging family time (not an easy feat with teens!). There was a hot tub on the deck, which was a wonderful treat every day after skiing. The kitchen had everything you needed if you wanted to cook, and there was also a washer and dryer off the kitchen which was great to keep our ski stuff smelling fresh all week. The unit had a reserved parking spot in a garage downstairs. There is an on-site concierge, but we never asked them for anything while here. I did email or call them 2-3 times before arrival and they were always prompt and helpful in their replies. We rented our equipment from the ski shop downstairs - Silver Star - and they were wonderful and hold your skis/board overnight so no schlepping of equipment needed. Highly recommend them as well. I will mention that Silver Star is a large complex and depending on where your unit is, you may have more of a walk...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe condo was beautiful but this was definitely NOT ski in / ski out. There are 35 buildings all listed as ski in/ ski out. The reality is they must walk to the locker room and then walk to the lift. I stayed once at Snowmass, where I walked out the door, put my skiis on and skied down to the chair lift. On my return, I skied right up to the door. I booked this trip through Vailresports. I talked to Heather Lowry who assured me that this was definitely ski in and ski out. I feel I was lied to and that the Silver Star is using false advertising to fill the condos. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT HAVE BOOKED AT SILVER STAR if they were honest with me. I am planning my 2025 trip and I will go back to Snowmass at Viceroy which is definitely ski in/ski out.|My brother flew in separately and took the shuttle that was provided. He was dropped off at the main entrance. The lady behind the desk said they needed to walk 3-5 minutes through 6 inches of snow partially uphill and drag their suitcases. He insisted that his wife had Parkinson's disease and walked with a cane and there was NO way that they could get to the condo. Finally, after much begging they got a driver to take them to the garage. When I drove with a rental car there a bit later, there were no lights on the building signs which were covered in snow. After much driving around on icy snow covered roads, we finally figured it out. This was the arrival from hell. Very upsetting for as much...
