The Copperbottom (CB) worked out well, but it needs an owner's manual ;). I provide some "Things to know" below you should look over. Nothing bad, but helpful for your stay! I would consider staying here again. ||||There were three of us staying for four nights. None of us had stayed here before, or visited Park City. We booked via hotels.com, and chose the CB due to it's price and location. The room was a one bedroom with a pullout on the first floor, balcony, and kitchen. ||||||LIKES||-The layout was great. I found the unit quite comfortable||-Bed was great, it's actually two smaller beds adjoined. Our friend even said the sofa bed was nice.||-There is an actual wood burning fire place with starters! ||-The lady at the front desk was really nice, helpful, and communicated the terms/expectations for our stay very well. ||-Kitchen was great and fully stocked with equipment. Note- no food supplies of any kind, not even salt/pepper, but we did find coffee filters, plus dish soap, sponge, and paper towels for the kitchen. ||-Washer and dryer, and Hot tub in the basement. Bring your swim suit! ||-It was close to the main grocery store and Starbucks. ||-If you're only staying for Sundance, it was ideally located between all theaters and the nearest bus stop if the only stop that connects you to every route. ||||THINGS TO KNOW||-This is a vacation rental, not a hotel. You get a full apartment, but dont expect a hotel.||-Checkin is next door at the Wyndam Vacation Rentals! This wasn't explained anywhere by hotels.com and was confusing when we arrived. No one actually works in the CB.||-There is no daily cleaning service during your stay. ||-Check out is early, at 10:00. It's enforced, and the cleaning people were waiting at 9:45. ||-The walls are very thin. You can hear everything your neighbors, for better or worse. ||-The room was non-smoking, but it appears some aren't. You can smell it in the halls, if that bothers you. ||-The bathroom always smelled like sewage! Pretty sure it was because we were first floor, so we always closed the bathroom door. It was a strong, but not overpowering, even when the fan was left on.||-Park city transit stops are several blocks away, however there is lots of parking available for the hotel. If you plan to use transit, you may want to consider the walk. ||-Two TVs with cable, but they are tiny. Like 18 or 19 inch flat screens. ||-Bring your own bathroom products. They do provide a bar of soap and some axe samples, but it's sparse. ||-There are only a few restaurants within walking distance. We did enjoy the Boneyard a few times, never did try out the Pickle Jar! ||||In short, this place was a decent deal during Sundance and a comfortable place to spend time during downtime. As I mentioned- I would consider...
Read moreGood Things: The property itself is nice. There is stone flooring in the kitchen as well as tiling in one of the bathrooms and marble countertops. The balcony our room had was nice and there was a large window by the bed. I really enjoy having a full kitchen and stocked plates and utencils and essential cookware. As well as a dishwasher and a regular washer and dryer. The carpet is visibly worn and frayed at the edges in places but besides that it's altogether pleasing to the eye and well kept.
The property is walking distance to a grocery store and like 5 minutes drive from Park City skiing. It's also a very short drive to Main Street for some nightlife.
Bad things: In the lobby they advertise a hot tub which no longer exists. I wouldn't mind if they didn't have a hot tub but being told they have one then finding out they don't is a pretty unnecessary disappointment, and I was apparently not the first to let them know, yet the sign remains unmodified.
The building hallways, lobby, and elevator have a significant smell. It's not necessarily offensive but no one would call it a clean smell or desire it in their homes.
Of significant note, though the unit is advertised as air conditioned, the unit is only capable of circulating the interior air of the whole building, so for us in February it was a constant 66 degrees Fahrenheit.
This isn't fatal, since they do provide firewood for the fireplace, but no kindling, so you essentially have to find your own or hold the kitchen lighter to the corner of a log for a few minutes and then let it burn across and hopefully catch the other logs as you position them. When it's the only means of warming up at the end of the day, it's a little arduous and slow.
Lastly, the shower drain in the bedroom adjoining bathroom was backed up.
I think the thing that makes this an average stay and not a great one is that it feels like these issues could be resolved or made amenable with a little more effort from management or staff, like even just by better prepping the units...
Read moreWe stayed on the first floor room 103. It was stocked with all kitchen appliances (fridge, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, blender, pots, pans, cookie trays, utensils...). Everything you would need to cook at home..it was also equipped with a washer and dryer. It had a wood cabin decor theme, fireplace with firewood, small outdoor patio, comfy couch and a comfy bed. The place is across the street to Park City Mounain..just about a 5-7minute walk. Everything was perfect except for the FOUL ODOR from the bathrooms. It reaked from the moment we walked in. I'm assuming the management knows of the this because both bathrooms had airwick double plug-ins. (Which were both empty) so we called the front desk and they kindly sent us two new ones. The smell from one of the bathrooms faded a bit throughout our stay but the bathroom in the bedroom smelled so bad it was unbearable! 😞 we kept the door closed and opened the sliding glass door, plugged in a fan to air the place out. I wanted to give this place a 5 star rating..maybe if they fix the sewage issue, they will definitely be a five...
