We take several vacations per year, this is the first negative review I’ve ever written of a rental. My personal advice would be to stay clear of the Park City Wyndham Vacation and their listed property at 1410 Empire Drive. Here is a quick summary of our experience:
We booked the property 4 months before our stay at roughly $1,100 per night (plus fees) which is a lot of money for our family. We were traveling with a total of 7 adults and 2 children. Our flights got in early, so we would be in Park City about 4 hours earlier than our check in time. I emailed the agency about the possibility of checking in early and they said they would accommodate us if possible.
4 months later, we arrive in Park City around lunch time and drive right to the check in agency. All 9 of us were squeezed into an 8 passenger SUV, packed down with luggage, so we were really looking forward to checking in. I had been checking the properties availability online and saw that it had not been booked for several days before our check in, so I was sure we would be able to check in early, as requested. Unfortunately, this was not the case, the property was still being cleaned from the previous occupants and was not ready. So, we decided to go have a long lunch and asked if there was any chance the property was cleaned early, to let us know.
Two more hours pass by while we eat lunch. My son vomits at lunch which would later turn out to be the flu. I called the agency back to check on the progress of our check in, to which they tell us the house is still being cleaned. By this point, we had parked our SUV in the parking lot across from the property where we could clearly see there were no cleaners. I told the agent of this, and she replied that they are parked in the garage (the garage door opener would later turn out to be broke – like many other things on the property.) I let her know I was going to knock on the door to ask how long the “cleaners” might be. My son was sick and needed to clean up and lay down. She put me on hold and came back with the good news that our property was indeed ready, the cleaners had just left (right.)
When we get into the property, we had several more issues – none of which were nearly as inconvenient as the check in process. First, the downstairs toilet was not working. The agency sent someone over who said this happens all the time at this property, but he resolved the issue. Next, some sort of alarm in the utility room was going off; a very loud alarm on par with a smoke detector. Someone else was sent over to resolve that issue. Additionally, the hot tub was not working, it was literally cold. A third person was called over, but that problem was never resolved. Because my son was sick, we went to the store and bought Clorox Wipes to disinfect the house. The results were truly disgusting. Every surface we touched with the wipes came back instantly black with dirt, the cleaners apparently didn’t do a very good job.
All this to say we were not happy with the house and I would not stay there again for free, nonetheless for $1,100 per night, but the absolute worst part of the experience was the low quality of customer service provided by the employees working at the Park City Wyndham Resort Check In. They literally went out of their way to make sure we had a poor experience, when it would have been just as easy and more productive to allow us to check in when we arrived. There was never any cleaners delaying our check in, they simply wanted us to wait until 4pm for reasons I can’t begin to understand. There was never any apology or explanation for any part of the events described above and I will never do business with another Wyndham...
Read moreThis is a review of the Blackstone Condo in Park City from Vacasa.
First up, the property was beautiful, spacious, and the location can’t be beat. Easily a 5 star rental / review, normally…
Having said that, we were extremely disappointed by Vacasa and the property mgmt company thus the 3 star review.
We contacted Vacasa twice during our stay on Days 1 and 2 regarding a clogged dishwasher with standing water, and missing ski closet key (located in a common area) both from the prior guest(s). Both times we were told that these items would be resolved during the day while we were off skiing, and we would then be contacted by Vacasa / property management as a follow up. Neither issues were resolved and no one contacted us. We ultimately drained and cleaned the clogged dishwasher ourselves because the standing water with food debris started to stink so badly as it permeated the kitchen. As for the missing key to the ski closet, we locked our ski together in the closet with the portable ski lock that we had with us to keep them secure.
After we returned from our trip, I called Vasca again (now a third time) to discuss the situation. And again, I was told that someone would follow up regarding our stay.
As of this review, we are still waiting on that call back from Vacasa customer service. It is unfortunate as we have rented various properties through Vasca for the past 4 years with good experiences, however, we are now reluctant to do so again, and/or recommend its service due to...
Read more4 day family stay My family of 6 had a lovely 4 day stay. Large, well appointed home, clean, nicely laid out with rooms and beds for everyone. Overall i gave it a 5/5 rating. The only issues we had are the following: the home is outside of the deer crest community gates. The road through the deer crest takes one 12 minutes to get to the deer valley parking lots and lodge. If you can’t use that road and need to get on route 40 it is a 45 minute drive back and forth in peek ski hours. The key card for access was no where to be found in the house and the local management company was unable to locate either. The gate attendants did not allow us through. The necessity to drive to the parking lots is that although this is indeed a ski in and ski out facility, the jordanelle gondola at the end of the private trail at the foot of the mountain is the only way up. For 2/4 days of our trip the jordanelle and mountaineer lifts got closed for weather issues. This apparently is not an uncommon event making the unit non ski in and out requiring car if that occurs. We had to make major adjustment with transportation on very short notice as a result. This potential problem should be disclosed to future renters so that they are aware that they may not always be able to use the ski in and out feature of the home dependent on lift closure, and may need a car or uber. Unfortunately this was a...
