Hidden Gem in Park City. Silver Star Cafe was featured on Guy Fieri's 'Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives' and given a glowing review, and it's easy to see why. The cafe/restaurant has an inviting, cozy, and rustic ambience, with wooden interior, cute decor and soft lighting. I've dined here a dozen + times over the years and the wait staff have almost always been very attentive and personable. Food is excellent - great flavors and well presented. The breakfasts (eggs benedict, pancakes, etc), sandwiches/wraps, burgers, chili, pizzas, and entrees have all been fabulous. We've been introduced to some great wines here too.

They often have live music on the weekends. In warm weather, even during the winter season, it is great to dine on the outdoor patio. Lovely views on one side of the golf course and PC hill, and of the mountain on the other side. It makes a great place to stop in mid/post ski, hike, mountain bike (near Armstrong Trail) or golf (near Park City Muni Course).

Reservations recommended during busy times - peak season, weekends, etc. Definitely worth a visit.

A few things to note: Parking - the parking area can get busy during peak times. Drive right back towards the restaurant patio. (The area near the entrance of Silver Star is sometimes used by trail users etc, so can fill quickly, and some spots are reserved for other business, but there should be some spaces nearer the restaurant). Restrooms - the cafe itself does not have restrooms. There are nice public ones shared by several other business just a few steps away. Note: when I last checked the restrooms did NOT have a changing table :( I hope they consider putting one in, as it makes it very hard for parents of young children. Wheelchair/stroller accessibility - the restaurant space is pretty tight. It was a little tricky squeezing a stroller between the hostess stand, seats, etc. It is doable but tight, just something to note. Dining outside in the warm weather might...

Triple D FLOP

Red flag #1: it smells weird when you walk in Red flag #2: the cheapest menu item is $39 Red flag #3: there are no bathrooms - you have to walk down the street to one Red flag #4: everything on the menu is gluten free

The short version is that we were lured in by the siren call of a Triple D restaurant. Up to this point, the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives establishments we’ve visited have never disappointed. The Silver Star Cafe has ruined that claim. Service was okay, but not what a Texan would call friendly. Our waitress was nice enough, but did not revisit our table once we ordered. We don’t drink alcohol, so when we told her we didn’t want anything from the drink menu she simply left us to look at the food menu without asking if we would like any non-alcoholic drink besides water. No big deal really, but definitely not the kind of service we’re used to receiving. The food was, at best, okayish. It is chef prepared, so we expected some flair and some unusual flavors, but what we got was really disappointing. The Osso Bucco was the only thing worth eating that we ordered, but it wasn’t really anything to write home about. Mary’s chicken was gross - we got the fried (gluten free) version and the skin was too thick to cut with a knife and the breading fell right off of it. The accompanying sauce was overwhelmingly flavored with fish sauce and quite off-putting. The strip steak (at a whopping $51) was cooked well, but was a fatty piece of meat with little flavor. The mashed potatoes needed salt and the sauce was a red wine base that hadn’t had the alcohol properly cooked out of it. We forewent dessert based on the experience of the main course.

Overall, it’s a cute restaurant with weird smells and weirder food. If you’re looking for a true Triple D joint,...

Update: We came back. They still have price fix menu which is nice with several of their main dishes and a special. From there we had the Scottish Salmon. We also had the Pork Osso Bucco and the Elk burger from the regular menu. The burger received a rave review from my son who eats a lot of burgers. The Pork was also excellent. The cilantro and cheese turned the creamed corn side from bland to excellent. We love cilantro. The salmon was very good as well. We tried the Proveleta as one of the appetizers. This was very good. It’s a lot of cheese and very shareable. This is a solid 4 star in my rating scale which is very recommendable. I wish I could give it 4.5. See my note below on that.

Such a cozy spot for dinner. The food was good. We will come back for the atmosphere. We had the Elk skewers. They were a little tough. I haven’t had a lot of Elk but I read that it is not traditionally tough. We also had the fried Brussels. They were not fried like in a fryer. Seemed more pan fried. They were good but nothing exceptional. We didn’t think they were very spicy. But it was a nice and different take on Brussels. For mains the Lamb was good. Cooked medium rare which is great. I had the Duck which was cooked similarly and again was tasty. The sides on both plates were fine. The spaghetti squash was a nice touch with the Duck. Service was excellent. Met someone local that swears by this place. It’s small. Make a res. Very cozy interior for winter time. Nice wine selection.

If you found this helpful follow me. I don’t give many 5* because I reserve that for the very best in food, service and experience. I try to be quick to the most important stuff, the food. Then add notes about the...

📍Silver Star Cafe This cozy cafe is a great brunch place in park city with lots of safe gluten free options. I came solely for the banana bread French toast! Its a popular spot during peak season so I’d highly recommend a reservation. I did find it to be overpriced and a bit bland - but that’s park city for you! But sometimes it’s worth it for a safe meal. #utah #parkcity #saltlakecity #travel #glutenfree

We had an absolutely incredible dinner at Silver Star Café tonight! It’s one of my husband and my favorite spots, and we brought John, our customer care manager for the Nicole Hutchings State Farm Agency in Kamas, who’s in town helping me open our new office. Our server, John, was fantastic! We remembered him from dinning at a great place on Main Street this past summer. It was such a fun surprise to see him again. He gave us excellent recommendations, and every dish was outstanding. My husband is an amazing cook, so we don’t eat out as often because it’s hard to beat what he makes at home…but this meal was truly one of the best I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. We had their house specialty, the ossobucco (a must-try!), the salmon (to die for), lamb meatballs, and the peach salad. And to top it all off, Auntie Em’s peach and mixed berry pie was the perfect ending to a beautiful dinner. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with an incredible view, outstanding food, and a lovely outdoor atmosphere, Silver Star Café is it. Highly recommend!
