My husband and I had a great time white water rafting with Destination Sports. It was efficiently ran and the entire staff was helpful and kind.
TJ was our guide, and he 100% earned this 5-star review! What we thought was going to be a leisurely jaunt down the river turned into a life-altering experience of mental, physical, and spiritual restoration. As he aptly and skillfully guided us through the turbulent waters, he also tuned us to the majestic spectacle of nature occurring all around us. From bald eagle fledglings, to rippling brown trout, and even the occasional splendid waterfowl, TJ kept not only our eyes on a swivel, but also our hearts. We literally couldn't wait to see what every bend in the river had in store for us.
If you happen to be a wildlife expert or a Utah State historian, I highly recommend selecting TJ as your guide. He fascinates with his deep intellect of the history of the surrounding geography. His knowledge of transcontinental railroad construction, as well as the highly sophisticated coordinated helicopter effort it takes to erect telephone poles on top of a mountain is truly stunning. And if your interests tend to lean towards the ornithological, no worries. TJ is your man!
It is not every day you get to come away from an activity with the feeling of having another person put your own well-being ahead of their own. I can honestly say that there was one point at which TJ had my wife and I lay down inside the raft to protect ourselves. For that, I am eternally grateful.
But these are mere words. Mere words that simply scratch the surface of what is truly an ineffable and ethereal experience. As we all know, a transfiguration such as the one I'm describing must be encountered, not merely read. To quote the singular John Muir, "the mountains are calling, and I must go". And if you have read this far, and are wondering where to go for your guide needs, I will give you all the answer you need: "the river is calling, and to TJ...
Read moreAs a local who has spent my entire life near the Weber River, I wasn't sure what new experiences could be in store for me with Destination Sports and Adventures' rafting trip. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how this adventure offered a refreshing and unique perspective of the area I thought I knew so well.
From the moment we set off, it was clear that this wasn't just any ordinary rafting trip. The guides were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, sharing fascinating stories and insights about the river's history and ecosystem that I had never heard before. Their passion for the river and its surroundings was infectious, making the journey not just a thrill ride but also an educational experience.
The rafting itself was a perfect blend of excitement and relaxation. Navigating through the rapids gave me a new appreciation for the river's dynamic character, and the calmer stretches provided ample opportunity to soak in the stunning scenery from a vantage point I'd never quite experienced. The lush landscapes, the vibrant wildlife, and the crisp, refreshing air—it all felt different and more vibrant from the middle of the river.
What stood out the most was how this adventure made me see my home in a new light. It was like rediscovering a beloved friend and finding out they had even more depth and charm than I ever realized. Whether you're a visitor or a long-time local, I highly recommend Destination Sports and Adventures for a memorable and eye-opening experience on the...
Read moreMy cousin and I were a little nervous about rafting, but right from the moment we arrived, the staff made sure that we had all of our questions answered and felt comfortable. Our guide was Nate and he not only went above and beyond for our group as an expert river guide with loads of local history too; he also jumped to the rescue of some folks in distress on the river. A mother and her young daughter had capsized and lost their kayaks. Nate steered us to a safe spot, made sure we were ok on the bank, sean down river to get the mothers full sized, hard shell kayak, carried the kayak back to the mother UP the river bank for what must have been at least a 1/4 mile, then RAN back to us like it was some EMT Tough Mudder. With the family all safe, we set out on our journey again and continued to have the best time. Nate made us feel safe, welcome and entertained. The entire staff crew was friendly & awesome! We enjoyed chatting with Tyler on the way back too. Lots of thoughtful touches by the business owners (we happened to have their neighbor in our raft and heard such kind things about them). From changing cabanas to clean portalets and sunglasses for purchase - this is a top notch company and I couldn't...
