First off let's start with no wifi. The night staff and day staff seemed more interested in telivision and their cell phones then they did talking to me as a customer or helping me with any needs. The rooms were small and very cramped. The mattress had no type of liner to protect from bed bugs and literally every piece of furniture was made out of metal. They one nice thing was they offered direct tv. I kind of liked that but the picture resolution looked old and faded. Also the toilet was low flow which made my 3yr old daughter confused as to why the water wouldn't go away when she flushed twice.
So then came the next morning. (We accidentally forgot to set our alarm not to mention we were never offered a wake up call like I have been offered at every hotel since 1987) so we ended up checking out at 11:17 am. This apperently was a problem for the woman at the front desk. I told her I was sorry it was a honest mistake she said she didn't care and kept repeating that 11am was check out. I again said sorry and also informed her that the clerk last night never went over procedure (again like every hotel has gone over with me my whole life) not a big deal but still. She said "no one gonna tell you times" and pointed to a small sign that anyone would have over looked.
So to sum it up terrible staff and crummy rooms. For almost $10 less you can stay at the Dutch Inn with a larger room and bathroom bed bug liners wifi that works very well. TV's that don't look faded and a toiled that will suck down a Cadillac. Not to mention the staff at the Dutch Inn are great and will even take their time to call you at 10am just to remind you that check...
Read moreThe indicated address at 133 S. Dupont Hwy in New Castle DE is actually the "Relax Inn" (http://www.relaxinn-de.com/) and not the Knights Inn.||||This is an old 50-60s vintage motor lodge that has seen far better days. It is a great deal for the money and is very clean, but expect major parts of the infrastructure to not work at any given time. When we stayed there, the single ice machine serving the entire facility was broken, and they offered tiny bags of ice from the cooler in the office. Also, the fan in the bathroom looked like it hadn't actually functioned in years.||||Overall, it wasn't too bad. The TV and wi-fi worked (although one of us had trouble getting a connection- weak signal). It was clean, if cramped, and a modern traveler might have problems with limited power outlets.||||It looks like this place was probably renovated in the 70s-80s, but it is due for another round of fixes and upgrades. Because of many mechanical problems, I down-graded this one a bit, but for the money, it wasn't bad, and the stay was tolerable.||||One plus- we had tried the nearby Motel 6 at the I-95 off-ramp, only to find it in a high-crime ghetto. We had absolutely no such problems here, and felt completely safe. It is convenient to many fast-food restaurants, gas...
Read moreMy family and I were in a really rough situation and had to come stay here for a few days. Two toddlers and myself. My youngest (1 and a half) accidentally dumped a bag of chips on the floor right before we checked out, and I did my best to clean up the crumbs off of their carpet, figuring what was left could easily be picked up by vacuum. We ended up having to return the same day we checked out. We booked a double bed but was told they only had a single, which was fine because it was just me and my babies. This time, the room stayed clean - except for the comforter which was on the floor. Management said I couldn’t return. He refused to even allow me to defend myself or explain. He SAW that it was just me and my babies and he was so rude to me. I was beyond hurt, as I stay here all the time. I wasn’t partying, i’m just a single mother alone in this world. Couldn’t believe it and im...
