If you are looking at AirBnB apartments, then you need to stay at this hotel, instead.
Candlewood is a simple concept that they don't present as well as they should: they offer short-term studio apartments that operate like hotel rooms.
Whether you need a studio apartment for a day or a week, this is the place to go and the reasons are myriad.
The location is unbeatable - very close to I-81 (you get off the exit and you're there).
There's food options right outside your door - Arby's, Bobby O's, Burger King, Chef's Corner, Denny's, Fire Pit, McDonald's, Star Asia Buffet, Taco Bell, and Wendy's are all within 5 minutes.
Walmart is right across the street.
It's 10 minutes from Montage and 10 minutes from Mohegan Sun.
The place is clean and the service is solid.
While, like an apartment, you don't get a housekeeping service (really the only drawback of Candlewood, but also a benefit if you value privacy), you can get fresh/new/replacement anything, by asking the front desk - towels, additional plates/bowls/utensils, etc.
The lobby coffee is fresh-ground for each cup that's made.
They have free laundry which is a huge perk for us, as we were there snowboarding and needed them every night.
They have free wifi for every guest.
Outside of a random truck noise from the often-busy Pilot next door, we didn't hear much of anything.
The front desk has noise machines but we brought our own, as well - even with the machine off, we didn't feel it was anything more than we'd expect from any other hotel that's reasonably close to the highway (in this case, even the airport).
The whole place felt really new, which makes sense, because it's pretty new: but the bathroom was nice and the fridge/freezer were clean and worked well.
I'm really not sure why other reviews are so negative because I was there four nights and have not-a-single complaint.
Shout out to Taelor at the front desk, who has "management potential" written...
Read moreWell, what can I say about this? Amazing Candlewood suites in Pittston, Pennsylvania, right at check-in I was greeted with the sweetest gentleman and the cutest jokes. He knows the property and explained everything with such entertainment. He definitely deserves a raise for knowing his job so well, the suite was perfect. I loved the kitchen. We did a lot of cooking. It was very comfortable. I enjoyed every minute .the bed was amazing. I had the greatest night sleep. Hung out in the lobby for a little while and enjoying the Aviance and off to the side there was a place that we can hang out outside. The hotel is conveniently located right across from Walmart and every other possible store you can possibly need at this wonderful place. I highly recommend anyone going to Pennsylvania to spend one night here and you are guaranteed to...
Read moreWe drove to the back parking lot of the hotel for some odd reason and were greeted by a homeless man who was laughing hysterically and looking like he was getting ready to settle in for the night. We then drove to the front and parked. The room was clean and new as the hotel is recently built. Then the AC kicked in. It howled like crazy. I thought, well, it will at least drown out the constant traffic noise from the nearby road and busy intersection. But then it stopped and then restarted so it was impossible to get use to the HVAC noise. I can't imagine why this location was picked or that it will draw return guests. I'm glad I don't own stock in IHG if this is the kind of decisions that they are making these days. This is a very scary and noisy location on top of an extremely loud and annoying...
