Had I not arrived late due to rain and terrible traffic, I would have canceled and forfeited one night worth of points, and found another place to stay. The lobby is not really a lobby and people who appeared to be family or friends or workers living at this hotel were hanging around with the clerks every time I traversed the small space. Folks were friendly enough but this seemed like a local family-owned place for transient or other workers and family to stay and hang out. It is not a place for travelers who want a relaxing hotel in a good location. Folks were friendly enough but it was among the worst stays I have ever experienced, with a terrible location and amenities.
There were 5-gal tar buckets and tape throughout the parking lot, indicating a patchwork tarring project, which I learned was accurate the next morning when it was not raining. Much of the parking was taken by tractors perhaps waiting to retrieve trailers from any one of the nearby commercial facilities. Again, folks were somewhat friendly but it appeared to me to be a temporary housing place for workers, vice a place for guests traveling through on a vacation.
My room was the dirtiest among my many Holiday Inn stays (IHG actually). I found a coin and food in a corner, and there were various types of hair on the floor and in the bathroom. Yuck. The entire hotel and my room had a musty, dirty smell that endured and penetrated every aspect. People stood right outside of the main entry and smoked, which is unacceptable.
I ate the breakfast the first morning; however, something did not sit right with my system so I ate my own fresh food the next two mornings.
The area itself was very disappointing aside from driving some distance to finally find a trail for my pup and I to hike. I drove all over the area to find someplace decent to eat, something to do but it is a dirty industrial area from Pittston to Wilkes-Barre, which was also a big disappointment.
I needed to curtail my trip because my diabetic pup was not doing well. However, I would have left this hotel when I did anyway due to the condition and location. I would not stay here again or recommend it to my friends or family.
I called IHG to confirm that points for the two canceled night would be returned when I checked out and they said yes, within 24-48 hours, once the hotel notified them. I waited 96 hours and then called the hotel, and left a VM for the manager because no one would answer at the front desk although the first try it sounded like someone did but then hung up on me. The manager did not return my call so I called IHG customer service and the representative contacted the hotel and I had my points returned within about 15 minutes. All of this even though my IHG account said I had check out early, yet the hotel had to notify IHG.
I am seriously evaluating IHG and my...
Read moreThis was our worst hotel we stayed during our drive down to Florida from Canada and back. Staying at about 15 different hotels during our journey.
This is a economy hotel that they tried to upscale with some fresh paint and some new furniture. They also chose the scent of Aqua Velva or some other aftershave as the scent for the hotel. Which is some areas is so potent it would make your eyes water.
For everyone visiting within the next month or so please know THE POOL IS CLOSED part of the reason why we originally booked it and its closed. No mention on the website and according to the front desk management and owners don't want to update the site to reflect that. They expressed to me it might be a month or so before it's back up and running. We did not discover that until fully unpacked. Rooms were not that clean in my opinion. Carpet was sticky, bathroom baseboard edge still had dried pee and the bathroom looked rough. Other surfaces and beds were clean so we stayed, partially because we just drove 6 hours, it was dinner time and had already started unpacking after a quick inspection.
The old single elevator is a treat as well with no access to use the stairs. The elevator is so small it barely fits you and the luggage cart. Oh and in the morning it is also the same elevator the cleaning staff uses. Which was great while waiting there for the elevator, the cleaning staff comes off, we stepped back so they had room to get off and they didn't even hold the elevator for us and closed before we could stop it. Next time it came around people were on so couldn't get on. We had to catch it when it was empty.
I get the impression the owners are extremely cheap or in financial trouble. Everything seemed to be done cheaply and lots of differed maintenance. Our exhaust fan in the bathroom seems to be broken, so the steam from the showers is causing the drywall to fall which looks likes it has already been repairs a few time. Why not just replace the fan? Their marketplace is barely stocked which was great when looking for some bottled water and those last minute things you forgot or out of. However, they are very on-top of security it seems with the hotel filled with Costco brand surveillance cameras and ring doorbells. I think there was 3 cameras alone in their market place.
The only good thing I can say was their breakfast selection was wide, coffee was ok, beds and pillows were comfy. Not enough for me to come back ever though.
All in all if you enjoy aftershave smells, enjoy being watched by tons of cameras, like overpriced water from vending machine, enjoy playing the elevator lottery and want to save $30 it's a...
Read moreWould 100 percent never come here again. One time only. I would rather spend my money elsewhere. I booked ahead of time paid for, called the hotel to ask if everything was OK he said yes. Drove over 6hours to be rushing for nothing. I got there alil before 3pm I didn't get into a room to dam nearly 5:30pm. The whole purpose of me trying get their early is because I had some where by 4 which they closed. They didn't have the room I booked. They tried to book me in a one bedroom when I paid for a two. Went back downstairs then they put me in a regular standard room( When I paid for a suite.) I always book through a 3rd party because it's always something when I go through the hotel. I was sitting right in the lobby when they called them and ask the manager to relocate me. He claim it wasn't his fault and he is not paying for something he didn't do. A tall African American with a mohawk name Andre. ( management material I guess if that's what you want to call it) Completely no sympathy what so ever and just continue about their day as If I wasn't sitting in the lobby for almost 3hrs. Small mini fridge, small bathroom, dirt possibly mold in the room, pillows wasn't comfortable, even though they had breakfast eggs are powdered, meat bland no taste , also I found hair in my eggs I took it straight to the trash. The elevator door got tons of stractches and writing on it they didn't even bother to cover it. Also heavy weed smell . I booked at plenty hotels including other Holiday Inns and had a wayyyy better experience. The only good thing is the location. But the big deep pot holes 🕳 that you have to swerve around takes away from that as well. Big enough to do real damage to your car. The internet you couldn't just connect with the wifi password I had to call down to get the number and call them which he did do some time after. But I will admit that is the only type of good customer service I got. Then I parked by the back door because the front was full. There isn't a no parking side, shuttle parking only there's nothing. I tried to park close because I had alot of bags including food cup holder with drinks etc. After a long day eating showering and bed I got a call like dam nearly 2am asking me can I move my car because of the shuttle. Like I said before no sign no nothing. Would not come...
