One of the most unfortunate Hilton stays on record for me. (Consider staying at The John Carver Inn and Spa. Around the same price per night, all the charm and amenities, perfect location right by Plymouth Rock)
I’ve been a Hilton Diamond since 2004 and have stayed in Hilton family hotels around the world. I do not want to come across as sounding stuck up, I am a very down to earth person who is just as open to a positive experience (always my hope) as anyone else. However having a really solid basis of comparison is why I mentioned being a long time Diamond member. Unfortunately, this Inn fell short in so many ways.
First of all, the location is in a Home Depot strip mall. If you’re looking for the charm of Plymouth, you will most certainly not find it here.
Secondly, there were multiple issues with the room. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned properly, the AC unit was making crazy sounds all night so my husband and I barely slept. The temperature also wasn’t moderating, possibly as a result of the wonky AC.
There also seemed to be a wedding party staying there and when I say party, I mean party all night. As much as I love to have fun with friends and be rowdy, for some of us who are trying to take a quiet vacation, all the noise was not making an already rough night any better.
We were booked there for the weekend but after our first night we knew we had to leave. I was concerned about being penalized for cancellation after the 24 hours. At $180 a night, I didn’t wish to lose the money for the rest of the stay.
I spoke to the front desk and I was received with an attitude and was not at all happy when they told me they would escalate the situation to a manager who would be in touch. I felt justified in having the whole stay comped. It is rare that I have a stay like this. A few days later, I had to follow up since no one contacted me as I was told. I eventually spoke later with the general manager and he was unwavering, insisting that I had earned some of my points back and that should suffice. I told them they put points into my account without as much as a conversation. I told him I felt covering the night would have been a far better resolution. He would not.
I would think the impact of the pandemic and the massive loss we all had to undergo is why it was not handled appropriately, but having maintained Diamond status for nearly 20 years, one would hope this would have been better managed.
I do not recommend this location. We ended up staying at the John Carver Inn and Spa and it was a truly wonderful stay in a perfect location. Walking distance from The Rock, Mayflower and all the charming...
Read moreWe did not pick this hotel. It was home base for a family wedding. The hotel is under construction at the moment so things are not fully in order. The exercise room had almost nothing In it as I was disappointed it was being renovated and I did not get my routine workout in.
Staff was nice and accommodating, made more coffee in the lobby when I reported the empty pot.
Breakfast is not included but they had some options there for an additional fee. The food looked good, however we brought food with the in room fridge and microwave.
Construction occurs even on a sat and we heard a very loud noise all morning while we we getting ready for the wedding.
All family members except us were placed on the 5th floor. They all had a nicer experience. My wife kept saying we booked first and dis not understand why the hotel did not put her on the same floor as her parents and sisters.
Or view was no view at all. We look at the lobby roof. We also we right next to the elevator and heard noises a lot. So my advice is avoid the second floor until consis over.
The rooms to get ready for the wedding were nice as all the ladies got thier make up put on in one of the conference rooms.
The hotel is off a good highway system and allowed relatives for all over New England to congregate. Many restaurants are near and several can be walked to from the hotel. A gas station is also at hand to make sure we get home.
We had two room for our kids and us. My wife tried to get rooms that connect but that option was not available for some reason.
Anyway. We tend to choose hotels with free breakfast. But this one was ok for a night or two for a family event. I would recommend they do a better job keeping family on the same floor. My wife said the Hilton app only allowed her to get rooms on floor 3 and 4. I say don't trust technology and tell a human of you desire to be located closer to parents and siblings.
Over all this property is just an average hotel with an average amenities. But expect noise while the construction is going on. Something we never expected many months ago. And the construction noise is loud on the second floor so go higher if you plan to be in you room late morning like we were.
I would come back here as the rooms were modern and clean. Staff were helpful. Parking is free and this is a great location...
Read moreFor 6 years I was a Marriott guy but recently, the Marriott has just started going downhill. Rooms were outdated, service was lacking and they never upgrade you via your status even when rooms are available. I stayed another Hilton because it was the closest to where I needed to work and actually liked it better then most Marriotts iv been due. Figured I’d give Hilton another shot with this location and wasn’t disappointed. They in fact upgraded me to better room via my status, no questions asked. The place is clean and up to date. The staff was friendly and the parking was no issue. They have an EV charger onsite which is very useful. I was trying to ask the hotel prior to booking the cost but they didn’t know as they mentioned it’s 3rd party. I did have to use my “tap” to activate it but 3 days later, I haven’t seen a charge on my CC. Guess it’s either in its testing phase where’s no charge or it’ll get sprung on me at alter date. But the 240V chargers do work. Complaints? Not many… I do wish the Hilton would do what the Marriott does where if your a gold member or higher, you’d get the higher speed WIFI. Hilton does not offer that and will always charge you for those speeds. The free speed (no matter what tier you are) is 10mbps down and up which I guess is fine but would prefer the higher speeds. Of course this issue is not related to this hotel so I can’t hold Plymouth Hilton liable. One other complaint is the shower. Not sure if it was because I was on the 5th floor but water temps were not that stable. It’ll get hotter and colder throughout the shower. Not by much but noticeable enough where you need to make constant minor adjustments. The location is great as there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, a Home Depot, spa, highways, etc… so it is a convenient spot. Is it the cheapest hotel? Certainly not but certainly not the most expensive either. I can’t comment on the food/drinks as I didn’t partake in their breakfast/linch/dinners but your more then welcome to try it when you arrive and write a review about it for others to see. Will definitely book on future visits and would advise others to...
