I have a seafood allergy & I don’t eat pork. I’ve eaten at many, many places that serve both items & rarely have a problem after bringing my dietary restrictions to their attention. After carefully reading the listed ingredients, I ordered the duck ramen. I was given an alternative broth option & fish cakes ARE NOT LISTED ON THE MENU. This isn’t my first time eating ramen; every other place that I’ve been to will specifically list fish cakes as an ingredient. I get the soup & first thing I noticed is that the eggs are hard boiled (I ordered an extra egg bc they only include half an egg). Not only were they hard boiled but they were cold, like prepackaged, cut then thrown in cold. I took a couple bites of the duck but realized something just didn’t smell right. I looked at the soup a little closer & saw fish cakes! So I spit out the bite I had in my mouth & flagged down the server. At first I asked to have the soup removed & get an order of chicken satay instead. He offered to remake the soup but I declined & said satay would be fine. The guy walked away with the bowl, came back with the bowl said that I can’t do that. That the only alternative is for the chef to remake me the soup & it couldn’t be substituted for satay. I then said never mind to the satay & I’d just like the bill for my drink. He leaves again with the bowl & again returns with the same bowl, stating I wasn’t allowed to do that either & must pay for the soup. Why would I pay for a $27 bowl of ramen that I cannot eat? I pulled up the menu on my phone & asked for him to show me where fish cakes were listed because if I missed it, then that’s on me. He tried to walk away with my phone before I asked for it back & told him to get a physical menu. Needless to say, it’s not listed. So I paid $9 for a flat glass of Riesling plus a $2 tip because I’m not a fckn monster, unlike the manager...
Read moreThe hibachi room was freezing- my family wore winter coats while eating- and so did the rest of the guests. The fried rice was awful. Literally just white rice with very little soy sauce and zero veggies. half the rice was still white! It did have a little egg. no low mein like most places would include. The mixed veggies was 99% zucchini and literally 2 slices of mushroom and a few slices of onion. The chef threw a sizzling hot shrimp at my daughter (we were there for her 14th bday) and it landed on her new Uggs…grease destroying her light tan suede boots she got for Xmas. The staff isn’t very friendly and the language barrier made it difficult to ask for a resolution to be compensated for the ruined boots. Our bill was $170…boots were $150. I asked the manager to comp our bill and we will pay the difference. He is insisted I come back with the receipt and give him the damaged shoes- not til then will he reimburse me. News no sorry for the inconvenience and incident. . I showed him the receipt on my phone and he wanted her shoes. She’s not wearing socks and it’s 19 degrees out. So he said I would have to come back to plymouth which is a 30 min drive from my home. They originally wanted to just give us a credit to the end time we went but we will not be going back. Lastly, no chopsticks and no fortune cookies. No music. The place is a drag. We only went because...
Read moreI've personally gone to new Tokyo for a very long time loving every experience I've had, but recently that experience wasn't proven even better. I forget her name but there was a blond woman last Tuesday who showed my partner and I amazing service and made us feel right at home. My partner is blind and has a service dog, one that was particularly more dog than service that day after a good few hours riding down here from up near the Maine border in New Hampshire. Needlessless to say it was thirsty and despite both of our horrified looks it tried to drink out of the hostess or manager's (not sure which she was) cup of water. Instead of kicking us out for the service dog misbehaving like she had every right to, she brought the dog over a bowl of water to put beneath the table that she had sat us at. The dog now very happy went back to behaving and laid quietly beneath the table while we enjoyed our very large meal. The food was amazing and the presentation of the Sashimi plate was beautiful. The food was out quicker than I could think. Not to mention the Tokyo punch bowl we got was strong. She came back to talk to us at the end of the meal and was a delight to talk to and I hope we see her time and time again and make a routine on going on tuesdays if anything just to visit our new favorite employee and resturant. New Tokyo has always been good but this has made it ten...
