As a long time patron of this establishment, I am regretfully writing this review after a terrible experience and with an upset stomach. I work in the same plaza as Plymouth House, and FREQUENTLY order from here, almost daily. I ordered a greek salad with chicken. I typically rave over these salads as their feta is the best, however, tonight it was noticeably different. The first thing I noticed was a large piece of bone. I understand things happen so I was going to just let that go, but the food just smelled odd. I did notice the chicken seemed to be seasoned differently, so I decided to give it a try, but it quickly began turning my stomach. It tasted somewhat bitter, and the smell became very off-putting the more I ate. I decided to bring it back since I wasn't happy with it.
Upon arrival, the hostess, who has always been extremely pleasant to me, immediately asked me what was wrong. I apologized for complaining, but was not happy with the salad and was concerned something was wrong with it. She apologized and asked me if I wanted my money back or something else. I asked if I could get a small plain turkey sub instead since I was turned off to salad at the moment, she obliged. I asked to also purchase a drink and she graciously offered to not have me pay for it.
As I was waiting for my reorder, the chef or owner was yelling at her from the back asking " why am I giving food away, what is wrong with the salad?" She repeated what I had told her, and he continued to get defensive. Stated loudly, " It's just the Italian marinade, there's nothing wrong with it!... and when you get chicken at stop n shop there's bones in it, sooo..."
I was dumbfounded at what I was hearing. Not only did he disregard my concern for the chicken possibly having turned, he evidently thinks there is nothing wrong with a little bone in your salad. I am very disheartened to receive this reaction, I felt it was very inappropriate and poorly handled. I sadly will no longer be ordering from this restaurant, nor will I recommend it any more. The food is usually really good, although I have had (2) instances when I ordered a "meat lovers" stromboli, and what I got was a stromboli with just meat balls....like not cheese or anything, just meatballs in a baked stromboli crust. Now...I'm not going to say the person(s) who did this might possibly have frequented the dispensary too often, but I'm also not going to say they didn't. It just seems like that kind of mistake.
The new website isn't really the best, but neither was the other one. The new one told me the order would take 1.5 hours and that wasn't going to cut it, I had some hangry kids. So I called to check (and possibly cancel) and the manager said that timeframe was wrong and that it would be 30 minutes. So that's cool, but for a pickup order you gotta make sure you nip that issue in the bud. If that had been an acceptable time for me and I showed up an hour and a half later, the food would have been cold and gross.
So for now, 3 stars. If the website improves and we keep getting the great pizza, I'll bring this sucker up to 4. C'mon PHoP, we know you...
Read moreWe’ve been going to this restaurant for years. Today, after paying for our lunch and giving a tip at the counter. We received our lunch at the table by a very nice young man. When my fiancé took a bite of his sandwich he realized that the texture seemed off. He started looking at it, and showed it to me. The chicken wasn’t cooked thoroughly. He wasn’t going to take it back, but I thought it was important that we do. So I did. What happened next is why we will never return. The nice young man, who originally came to our table was arguing with the cashier that our sandwich is cooked. Loudly... do they want another one, I cooked it fine etc etc etc... We got so sick of the argument about wether our sandwich was cooked or not, that we left. We are a small business, and strive to give the best customer service to our customers. Our business buys lunch for our crew all the time....
