Do not book this hotel if you need a microwave in your room and/or you want free breakfast!
I was under the impression that there were microwaves in the rooms when I booked the room at Courtyard by Marriott Savannah Airport. When we arrived at our room late in the evening from a long drive and discovered there wasn't one, we called the front desk. The guy on the phone, who didn't seem too friendly, told us to check the cabinet . We replied that we already did. Then he proceeded to tell us it's in the cabinet. Again, we told him it wasn't there after we double checked. Finally, he told us that there were no microwaves in any of the rooms in the hotel and we would have to go to the lobby to use the microwave there. What the heck?!?! The guy had some nerve to make us double check the cabinet and then turn around to tell us there were no microwaves in any of the hotel rooms. Seriously?!
When we checked out in the morning, we asked the lady at the front desk who seemed much friendlier than the guy. She told us the only rooms that had a microwave were the king suites and the hotel only had FOUR king suites. The misinformation from the guy at the front desk was irritating. I haven't been to a Courtyard by Marriott in a very long time and I only picked this location because it was brand new. Not a very good first impression for this location! You messed up front desk guy (-3 stars)! Oh! Just in case management wonders who was working at the front desk when we checked in, check the schedule for April 12th - overnight shift. He needs retraining!
Another thing I questioned was the shower/tub. The hotel is brand new and I looked at all the posted pictures before and after my trip. The tub/shower in our room didn't look like the pictures that were posted on Google and Yelp. The one in our room looked old and dirty. Other than the bathroom, the beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. I liked the high ceiling and interior design. Placing the AC unit under the cabinet rather than next to the bed was a great ideal. The lobby interior design and hotel exterior design were impressive.
They don't have any free breakfast, but they do have a small cafe to purchase their pricey food. There are plenty of food options surrounding the hotel if you prefer something different. The parking lot was very well lit and parking spaces...
Read moreUpdate for 2024: I stayed here again this year. The rooms are a little pricey, but I love this location. Wanda and Marlene were exceptionally helpful. I appreciate their kindness. They were in the hallway while I was on my way to my room and they offered to assist me with my luggage. People like Wanda and Marlene are the reason I keep coming back to this location. Thank you very much, Wanda and Marlene.
Past review from 2023: I expected to arrive at Courtyard by Marriott in Pooler, GA no later than 6:00PM on 7-27-23. Instead, I was delayed by a flat tire and did not arrive at the hotel until about 3:00 AM on 7-28-23 I was traveling with my mother and we were both exhausted after a very stressful 16 hour drive. I could barely walk. That’s when Erica came to the front door and helped my bring our bags in while my mother parked our car. Again, I was struggling to walk, and Erica, upon seeing that, quickly grabbed a chair for me to sit down. Erica then got us checked in and asked Eric to bring our bags to our room. Kimberly had left a note for Erica, letting her know that we would be arriving very late. Erica also gave Eric 2 bottles of water to give to us. Eric waited with me while my mother parked the car and then Eric was kind enough to show us to our room. It’s people like Erica, Eric, and Kimberly who make me love Courtyard by Marriott. This was my 3rd or 4th stay at this location. There are no words for how much I appreciate how kind and accommodating Erica and Eric were. They are exemplary employees. They went above and beyond, and I...
Read moreWhen given a choice. I most enjoy staying at a Marriott hotel chain. Where this one did not fail in my liking, it did not meet the standards in some areas that I am use to. The common area is very nice and open. Beautifully designed with the traveler that simply wants to relax and not swim.
Checking in was fast and welcoming. The elevators were fast and quiet. The king bed room is kind of small, but I do like that the bed is not against a wall shared by the guest in the next room. My room faced the movie theater. Busy activity at night and no activity in the morning. However, even with all the activity, you could not hear it in the room.
I have two gripes. The first is the room had a hard time staying cool throughout the night. I set the temp at 67 and the room remained at 69 at best. This made for covers on, covers off throughout the night. My other gripe is that the toilet stopped flushing completely in the middle of the night. I did not bother to call cause when I called about extra towels earlier (which I had requested when I made the reservation), I was told I would have to come down and get them if they had any clean ones ready. Therefore I figured they would probably have me come down to grab a plunger for the toilet. Nope. I'm good.
They also do not have a microwave in the room, but they do have a full size ironing board. The hair dryer in my room was damaged, so I had to air dry my hair.
Overall it is a nice place to stay, but I am left believing that I will check into a different Marriott the next time I am...
