As Hyatt members, we swear by the hotel chain whenever we travel for business or leisure, and always have tremendous experiences in the hotels we frequent. Our experience here at the Hyatt Sacramento/Rancho Cordova, however, failed to meet our expectations.
The check-in process was fairly pleasant. We were offered our two bottles of water and were given a room that matched our original request of being on a higher floor and away from the elevator (which was very appreciated); however, as Hyatt members, we are usually offered a 2pm late check-out (and yes, my partner is a part of that tier) at check-in, yet we were not offered a later check-out time during this stay, and when we later inquired about this on the phone, we were told “I can do one o’clock” very condescendingly by the front desk agent.
Our room seemed fine once we unloaded, but there was a gag-inducing aroma in the washroom that smelled like dirty mop water or mildew (as if someone had cleaned the floors and walls with dirty mop water or a very used mop-head). We were running late to a reservation, so we darted out after dropping our bags off and called the front desk during our dinner to ask for options (such as an air freshener).
Sandy assisted with this call, and I must absolutely mention her very rude tone while I explained the situation. She cut me me off as I tried describing the scent and where it was coming from, and told me quickly, “What room are you in?” before I could even finish my sentence. It was the most deplorable phone etiquette I have ever received from an agent (and believe me, I have been a front desk agent before, Sandy— the job isn’t as difficult as you made it seem!). She then suggested a room change once we returned from dinner, but by the time we returned from our evening, the hotel had sold out. We weren’t given any other options when we called after arriving to the hotel later that evening, and I had to suggest an air freshener be sent up to the room to help us with the smell (which was just an awkward employee who entered the room and sprayed cigarette-smoke absorbent into the washroom).
The next morning, it appears that the “1pm late check-out” hadn’t been communicated properly, because a housekeeper waltzed into our room as we were dressing for the day ahead. She apologized and exited immediately, unable to look us in the face as we passed her on the way out.
Fortunately for us, this was only a one-night stay (we were ready to leave by morning!). We weren’t given the option to check-out via our app, so we begrudgingly made our way to the lobby desk where a polite housekeeper (I’m assuming?) finished our transaction. I hate to leave such a negative review, but the experience was well beneath the Hyatt standards that we know, and keep us coming back to the hotel chain in our travels. I would not recommend this location to frequent...
Read moreHubby and I have stayed at the Hyatt Place in Rancho Cordova three times now so far this year; each experience better than the last. Our room(s) on the 4th floor with double beds are always a few doors away from the elevator, always clean and always quiet. Light blocking drapes ensures the DARK at night that we love, the A/C keeps the room at a temp we like and the beds are always COMFY for us making for valuable rest. The only noise we've ever heard is between the hours of about 7 and 9pm; otherwise you'd never know anyone else is around. Shocked us to realize there was some kind of convention going on AND children and pets were in the rooms a few doors away this last time, but once the doors close we can't hear our neighbors at all. Maid service is great and always leaves fresh towels, more toilet paper, a few more bars of soap and nice clean glasses. The staff is always eager to help with any complaint (an alarm system battery died once and kept beeping and we had a burned out bulb over the desk, both times we were served promptly). There is a weak shower head in #0418 while the shower in #0420 has FANTASTIC pressure and heat. Oddly though there is no hot water at all in the sinks in #0420 (didn't bother us but still it IS weird). We love the location (about 1 1/2 hrs from our own home here in the Sacramento Valley) and being able to find wonderful shopping resources in Folsom and El Dorado Hills. And the Hotel sits far enough away from thruway and local traffic, that we are not at all bothered by any of it. It's a perfect spot for our little "3-day mini vacations" where we can rest, relax and enjoy a nice getaway and we intend to continue coming back...
Read moreCheck in was great, the woman was very friendly and helpful. However, the gentleman was a little too busy watching sports on tv to even acknowledge us at the counter. My daughter and I dropped our things off in the room, came back down for a light dinner and a drink. We sat down and looked at the menu and once again the gentleman was too busy watching sports on tv. So after about 10 mins I walked up to the bar and asked if that is where I order. He THEN turned around and said "yea". I ordered a water for my daughter, the pesto flatbread and the strawberry mule (that alone was 11.75). He charged me, then asked the woman working, if she could make the drink. She said no problem, however they didn't have all the components for the drink. She used ginger ale instead of ginger beer, but still charged me full price. Food was great. We then went back upstairs, the rooms are spacious! But the website said pillow top mattresses, you could tell when you walked into the room and looked at the bed they were not. They were sunk in, right smack dab in the middle of the beds. Not comfortable at all. After a 9 hour drive I was expecting to be comfortable in the bed. Half the tv channels that the hotels own paper guide said we would get, we didn't. The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast. We were there at 0635, five minutes after breakfast began. The eggs, potatoes and bacon were all cold, not room tempature, COLD. Coffee was good, but I was under the impression there was a starbucks in the hotel or they served Starbucks but that wasn't the case. I could be mistaken on...
