Thursday, 3/02/2023 - Ate at Petali Restaurant for dinner tonight. Address is 3101 Zinfandel Dr, Ste 128, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670. This location is not far from HWY 50 east. Children's Museum is across the street. Upon arrival...

Pros:

1. lots of parking. There's a nice big parking lot.
2. they have outside seating and inside seating.
3. tables and chairs look clean.
4. I saw two men working hard away.
5. there's a barrel in the middle of the restaurant with a pepper mill on it. I thought it was just for display. Lol. I quickly learned there's actually real pepper corn in it. If you twist it, you get fresh pepper. We used it.
6. they had little packets of salt, blk pepper, sweetners, chilli pepper by the drink machine.
7. love their nice thick brown napkins. We only needed one each and it did the job.
8. we ordered the Chicken Alfredo (extra alfredo sauce) with Penne pasta in a bread bowl. The bread was so good!!! Pasta was good. Cheese bread sticks were good.
9. little one loved her pasta.
10. we tried the chocolate mousse. Yummy! It was a little too chocolatey, but still good. So we mixed the mousse and raspberry sorbette and it was perfect!!!!! Perfect combination for flavor. Mmmm...mmmm... good.
11. we tried mint chocolate chip gelato, S'mores gelato, and raspberry sorbette. All of them were delicious.
12. the two guys working in there were very nice and professional. They tried to talk to all of their customers. They checked in on us as well.
13. they provided us water cups and we can get our own water at the soda machine. The water tasted good. Didn't have that over carbonated taste either.
14. there were a bunch of plastic to-go boxes on the counter. We were able to grab a box to take our left over foods home.

Cons:

Conclusion: We liked this spot. Everything we ate was good. We plan to go back to try other dishes next time. The 2 staffs were very nice. We met a few patrons there and they were super sweet as well. They get their gelato from Gelato Classic and has been getting them for over 40 yrs, they said. There were fake candles on the table. I turned ours on to make it more romantic. Lol. It's a cute little restaurant. Try this place if...

So, after I got covid, I lost my sense of smell for over a year. When it came back I noticed food all tasted the same to me. No matter what, Indian - Mexican - sushi- you name it, all tasted the same. It left me wondering, Is it my sense of smell or is it the quality of food they sell? Two days ago my full sense of smell started to come back. But food smells and quality wasn’t getting any better.

Today I tried Petali with my husband. oh my words. I was basically crying from the start of our meal to the end with how wonderful it tasted. We got the bread bowl with pesto and Alfredo! Not a single flavor was lost to me. I tasted everything for the first time in months! The lightly sweet Alfredo cream, the hint of garlic, the pesto and pine nuts, the chicken was tender and cooked just right. Every bite was heaven and it was just …. Honestly the best meal I have had since I moved to Sacramento. I know my issues with smell make this more of an emotional response but my husband felt the exact same about the quality and flavor; so not just me! I’ll always remember this meal. For sure.

I recommend this place as it is affordable & high quality Italian food. You don’t feel like you are sitting in a 5 star Michelin restaurant as it’s family style Italian, but the food is of 5 star ⭐️ high quality. The bread was amazing, I was a baker for three years, at an Italian bakery, so this food meets my standards and then some (as a baker).
