I was pushing the limit of my Run Flat tire on the passenger side, having hit a big chuck hole on I 70 east just before the Indiana/Ohio border. I couldn't get a replacement til Monday, so I had to find a motel that wouldn't ding my already banged-up budget. The Richmond Inn looked promising, and it turned out to be just what I was looking for. Reliable free wi fi, lots of channels on the tv, in room fridge, micro and coffee maker. The owner was conscientious. He asked me to wait before moving into my room while he checked the maid's work, gave me a disposable razor, and later he silenced a continuous alarm from a nearby room on Sunday morning. It was a nice stay.No free breakfast, but I'd been eating them at various motels I'd stayed at during my trip, so I had a hankerin' for some eggs and bacon with biscuits, and the Cracker Barrel was within walking distance. They have HBO so I didn't miss the new episode of Game of Thrones. Plenty of hot water and good ventilation in the bathroom. I've stayed in some crappy motels over the years, and this wasn't one of them, although they did have a resident weirdo who would make random comments from the stairs as I walked to my room. But it was something friendly about what a happy day it was, and Saturday to boot! I smiled and said he was right, of course, but I decided to limit further interaction on the off chance that he would think I was his long lost buddy. All in all an...
Read moreWe were desperate to find a place to stay. I got caught up in a rainstorm Labor Day weekend We end up staying there four nights. We are very happy with our room. Even though it was an older motel. Don't be discouraged. The man is the man of his words he has remodeling it. He was in the process of doing it when I was there. Sometimes we're apprehensive about people's origins. And I must admit I was a sketchy also about it. But when I looked at the room I was very happy.. Him and his family are from India. And I know as some of the motels they do not care. Will I will eat my words if I'm wrong with this man. Him and his family are taking well care of the place and going to make it a very nice place. One of the family members would go outside and pick up all the papers and cigarette butts . Other ones were using a leaf blower to clean the walkways in front of the rooms. Fresh towels were no problem having at a request. I would imagine when he's done remodeling inside and out that he will be booked all the time. So give them a chance give them time to do the work they need to be done. But I and my friend definitely will be back when we need a comfortable clean reliable...
Read more5/10/15 Actually I never got to see a room. I seen the sign on the I-70 saying that the Richmond Inn had rooms from $39 and up. When I stopped there the manager Joe Lin immediately said the only rooms they have are $44 and UP. I mentioned that the sign on the highway says the rooms begin at $39 and Joe said, “the sign says UP, $39 and UP. I have a big arrow saying UP” I asked if even had rooms at $39, and Joe Lin who's probably 5' 7” and all of a 100lbs answer was “get out of here, the sign says UP. There's a big arrow pointing up. Get out of here”. So I took one of his business cards which were on the desk and asked if he was the Joe Lin on the card and he said yes. I smiled and told him to have a nice night. I realize that the difference between $39 and $44 isn't anything to talk about but for me it was the principle of the matter. He advertises $39 to draw people in off the highway and then charges what is pretty much the going rate in Richmond, which is $44. I don't care for Joe. And Joe if you happen to read this “you have...
