Disappointed in tonight’s experience, there was a lot of issues. Starting, we had a reservation at 8pm but the guy at the host stand was putting in receipts into the computer so we did not get any help till 8:05, 5 mins is not a big deal but is does give merit to the to the other reviews that have been posted about terrible service at the host stand. When we got seated the server would tell us that she could do this for us then come back and then say she could not bc of policy, no problem just be consistent and train your staff to know the policies to avoid disappointing, your customers, and confusion. I wish I could tell you her name but she never told us so she will be know server. Server did not know anything about the menu and when we asked questions she would give us wrong answers and then take it back the next time she came by. Again training is important and could resolve most of these problems. When our risotto poppers came out, the server asked if we needed serving plates to eat. I said yes, and then waited 15 min for our food to get cold before I got up and looked for someone to ask. I ended up going to the bar and with only three people sitting at the bar the bartender was unable to even look at me and ask me what I needed as the only new person walking up to the bar. Not her problem, but it could’ve resolved many issues faster. I ended up walking up to Tara* the manager on duty. I did let her know that we had been having issues and that I needed some serving plates. She was very prompt and grabbed the serving plates and came to our table. She wanted to listen and hear what problems we had been having. She even remade the risotto poppers for us so that they would be hot and got us water as we had been waiting for 10 mins for water to be brought over. Unfortunately, our food came out at the exact same time as the poppers so we were unable to truly enjoy the meal as It should’ve been served. Atmosphere in the area is dated and attached to a hotel and I feel like they rely on Customers for the hotel for their business I cannot see anybody going here for date night. Let me stress again Tara is by far the best part of the night we had bc she is understanding and Took control of the situation as a manager should. I unfortunately will not be returning nor will I be recommending this restaurant to anybody in the local area unless significant changes are made. I truly believe that the only highlight of this place is going to be there hot rock dinner which we did not order, but it seems like that is the trendy option and is interesting. I am disappointed to be spending $30 on a meal that truly in my opinion should have only cost a max of $20 if that. The chicken sandwich was extremely dry and the chicken and waffles. Chicken was extremely dry. Chick-fil-A would’ve been a better sandwich than what we received at this restaurant. The sides that we got were fries unfortunately most of them were soggy I would recommend turning up the fryer or at least not making so many batches as quickly to allow the fryer to Heat up and to get hot allowing for crunchy and crispy fries. The only reason that this review was not being given a one star is because of the incredible customer service that Tara had, she did remove the poppers from our bill. We went to eat somewhere else after to try to have a...
Read moreWent to Twigs on a recommendation by a friend who said he and his wife love this place. A friend and I went on Saturday June 7th about 4:45/5:00pm and were seated outside on the patio. We ordered the hot rock combo for 2 with warm dinner rolls with a salad and cocktail beforehand. The combo hot rock dinner let's you choose five different dipping sauces for the five meats you cook on the hot stone. At first we were one of only a couple of tables seated on the patio but no server came by for over 15 minutes. By then we'd decided what dinner we wanted and our drinks and waited to order. The patio was enjoyable and the water garden we were seated next to was delightful. But the delight started fading as it became clear the service was what can be nicely described as marginal to neglectful. A young man finally came to take our order. There was an understandable wait for the pre-dinner expresso martini and a fruit filled wine cooler which were delicious. We chose the combo for two, hot rock dinner with five sauces and bread rolls for $3 each, extra. The beet salad beforehand was amazing. We thought the pace would remain slower as that's the expectation that had been set, however the salad came out fairly quickly followed by the hot rock set up a few minutes later and we rushed to finish our salad. With zero explanation on preparing raw meat on a hot rock, my friend and I were left to our own devices on how long to cook what meat. We did read the menu information but we're kind of adrift as to what red meats were which. We could easily see which ones the shrimp and scallops were. We only got 4 sauces on a small plate that really wasn't designed to hold 5 sauces, which was puzzling. Why order 5 sauces then? We didn't know which sauce was which so we just started dipping. We figured the young man waiter would check back in but no, he never came back with the rolls, to ask about the food, to replenish water or ask about more drinks. Not once. Although the tables seated after us nearby he had visited multiple times including drinks and food orders. Finally we flagged down a blue-haired wait person who said they would help get our rolls and let our waiter know to stop by. Well, the rolls never came. We finished our meal with the last sauce brought after the meat was almost all eaten. The meats were good nonetheless. It would have been nice to know for sure which was the ribeye or have the rolls brought out. It was not to be. Our waiter showed up after we finished and asked if we wanted dessert. I asked if the dinner rolls were going to be brought out and he said oh, I thought someone brought them. He just didn't seem to have any sense of timing or service, at least for us. My guess is he is new/newer but does not know what being a good server looks like. We decided against trying dessert as the service was so poor it would just be very frustrating to spend more on what was already really terrible service. We'd love to try Twigs again but with service equal to the quality of the...
Read moreHappened to be in Rochester and went to this restaurant 2x last week. First time was for lunch and it was good all the way through. Liked it enough that we made reservations a couple of days later for dinner....food was ok both times.
Dinner experience was a nightmare. Lots of small stuff accumulated to a point it just wasn't nice. Arrived for our reservation, front desk was showing us to our table...husband and son went first and I was following when another front desk person scurried out cut me off and then stood observing something so I had to go around him. We were in a booth with high top tables to my left. A bus boy began cleaning the high top prepping for more guests...shot my husband in the face with the cleaning fluid...accident for sure but watch what you're doing. Placed our orders. Me and son requested sweet potatoe fries, I asked for crispy. Dinners arrived in a timely fashion...both sweet potatoe fries were burnt black and basically inedible (only 1 had asked for crispy). Brought my husband asparagus rather than cole slaw. Chatted to the server confirmed that she put the orders in properly. She corrected the issues without complaint and suggested she would try to get a credit on our bill due to the errors.
Dinner finished table was completely cleared except for drinks. My son was still hungry and wanted to order something else. I asked one of the girls on the floor for a menu. She agreed. 5 minutes later, nothing yet, so I got up and started to the front desk to get one. I saw the girl who said it was coming but she was doing something else. I got it myself. My son ordered something which was brought without issue but no cutlery. Had to wait to flag someone down. Finally done, got the bill dropped. On review, no discount. Asked the server who stated the manager had denied the discount request. I asked to speak with the manager, who came over. I believe it was Tara. She clearly carried an aggressive personae and body language of "what's your problem". We asked our questions and told our story and inquired about the suggested discount. She said she refused because it didn't meet the criteria, saying that we had afterall got what we ordered. I agreed and said "eventually"...no response. My son suggested that isn't their business model based on customer service and satisfaction...no answer. I raised the other minor issues to which she relunctantly said sorry. She clearly had no intention of addressing our concerns beyond providing lip service. Evening ended, bill paid and never to return. Too bad, because it can be a...
