I am a long-time diamond member with Hilton and travel quite frequently. I have a lot of respect for the folks who work in the hotel industry and try to be very understanding but also expect to receive comparable service for what I am paying. I'll start with the pros-the rooms are very nice and have been recently renovated. The location is great-right off the 101 and lots of dining and shopping options nearby. The area felt very safe and was very quiet at nice.
If I could sum up our experience at the Hotel Centro Sonoma Wine Country, Tapestry by Hilton in one word it would be "unfortunately". We heard that word quite a bit from staff during our time during our stay, for which we had fairly high expectations given the price, recent reviews, and recent renovations of the property.
We arrived around 15 minutes prior to check-in (3pm at this property) as were told that "unfortunately" the room we selected on the mobile check in was not quite ready. Fair enough, happens sometimes. I ask if there is a another room available of the same room type we could get into. "Unfortunately not". We were offered bottled water and a couch to sit on in the well-appointed lobby.
After a 30 minute wait (now after check-in time), I the manager comes over and apologizes and commits to have housekeeping work on the room right away and offers to add additional breakfast. The manager was very professional and was obviously trying to compensate for being very short-staffed by running towels upstairs in the hotel, which was recently converted to a Hilton property. After another 15-20 minutes, and a lot of confusion by the front desk staff, we are assigned to our room. When we get into the room, we immediately notice there is no hand soap. Again, no big deal, happens sometimes. We ask the housekeeping staff in the hall if we can have a bar of soap. Unfortunately, I am all out she replies and shows us the empty space on her cart. Off to Target for hand soap, which is conveniently located near the hotel.
The next morning we arrive at 7am for breakfast before heading out for the day (we had a tight schedule on our first day) to find the restaurant has not yet opened. Again, there was one staff member who looked like she was both the waitress and the cook.
When we arrived back after 5pm that evening after a long day, we found our room was not yet serviced (again, a symptom of a fairly large hotel and being short-staffed rather than the effort of the staff).
In sum, a hotel this nice in appearance and location needs to be much better staffed. The staff who are there are very nice and friendly and are trying their best, but given the size of the hotel and how busy it was during our stay, there was no way they could adequately serve the guests in a manner commiserate with the cost...

โธ We have stayed on both sides of the building, and they are equally just as quiet. Nate is a light sleeper, so this is something we always pay attention to!
โธ The customer service has been excellent every time we have stayed (roughly 5 times in the last few months)!
โธ Location, location, location! Within walking distance, you can easily get to a few bars & restaurants, stores & shopping, along with a good 10-minute walk to the Graton Casino. Oh! And if you are a Costco fan, it is basically across the street from the hotel!
โธ This is a newer hotel, and the finishes show it! If we were to compare apples to apples (Hotel Centro to Oxford Suites), Hotel Centro would win as far as being more modern and having newer finishes (IMO). But, to be honest, we have been staying at Oxford Suites more recently due to 2 specific reasons: free breakfast and the fact that it typically runs about $40 cheaper per night.
๐ We travel for a living (USA & around the globe) and love to share our experiences both here on Google maps and on our social media pages, too! Follow along our travel...
ย ย ย Read moreVery friendly and accommodating staff. The location is fantastic, with a beautifully decorated lobby. The rooms are well-decorated and the beds are comfortable. Biggest con is the room cleanliness. We were switched rooms due to the first one being dirty (phlegm left on shower walls, dirt particles on shower floor, very dusty window sills with handprints on glass panes, very dusty casing for lotion dispenser in the bathroom, smears and hand prints and something else smeared all over the inside of the bathroom door, and no hand soap). The second room had the same issues with the window, but the shower was clean enough (hand prints on the mirrorโincluding a full handprint high at the top that was difficult for me to reach to cleanโbathroom trash can had what appeared to be fecal matter all over it, but there was hand soap left in this room). Second room only had a few sheets of toilet paper on the roll and no extra roll, and the front desk attendant was unable to bring a replacement for an hour and a half due to having no one else to cover him, and there were no extras left at the front when I went down to ask (I totally understand his inability to leave his station, and I do not fault him for this, but it might be a good indicator that keeping spares up front might be useful). There is no 24-hour coffee, but the restaurant has good coffee for a few bucks; however, after 9:30 the restaurant closes, and I tend to drink coffee all throughout the night, so while thatโs a personal problem, it was a bit disappointing. Due to having had to switch rooms, Jedd waived our parking fee, which wasnโt necessary but was very considerate (him moving our room was already appreciated enough). And while the second room had multiple cleanliness issues, most of them I was able to fix on my own, and the shower appeared to be clean, so I could tolerate the rest (although Iโll mention that both had mold around the caulking and seal). The water gets very hot and the pressure is great. The rooms really are beautiful, so Iโd love to see greater focus on the cleanliness issues. Otherwise, service was fantastic, and I would stay here again for that despite the...
