We’ve been going to the beach bar for years and it’s always been fantastic/our favorite spot. This year we’ve tried to go there two nights in a row and have had terrible experiences with the restaurant staff. Sadly we weren’t able to get any of the staff’s names because one of them was fantastic but the rest were terrible. I completely understand that they were extremely busy and have been patient and waited for our chance. However, the first night we were asked to leave because the band was coming, even though we were paying customers and there were multiple open spots. We were compliant and went out to the beach for the rest of the night. The second night, we waited in line to get a table and were told it would be an approx 1 hr wait. We waited about 30 min and ended up at the front of the line. Soon after, the same female staff member that told us an hour wait, came up and asked us if we were getting a table or waiting for to-go food. We let her know that we had been waiting for a table and she said it would be an hour wait. We asked if that was an additional hour or the hour since we’ve been in line. She then told us that we were standing in the wrong spot and that she had called our name (we had been standing in the same line as everyone else and had been at the front for a while and never heard our name). We explained that to the staff member (and very calmly because I’m not someone to start issues) and she said we were wrong and that we would have to wait another hour but in a different spot. I said TO MY GROUP that we should get out of there and go some where else and the staff member yelled “well get the F*$& out of here then.” We left without saying anything else and went to another bar without any issues. We are all very sad that we’ve had two very bad experiences in a row here and sadly don’t think we’ll ever go back. Recently we hosted the rehearsal at The Beach Bar in St. John. The entire experience was fantastic!! From my initial contact with Nikki, the event manager, to signing the credit card receipt -- there is not one single negative I can think of.

Nikki facilitated the arrangements and contract, guided me through the custom menu we decided, and was basically totally non-stressed throughout. Everything was set up ahead of time. And it all went perfectly -- remarkable considering that we live in CO and made all the arrangements from across the country and sight unseen.

Upon my arrival at the restaurant, basically 10 minutes before our guests were to arrive, I was greeted by Jonathan, our on-site manager for the night. He was the epitome of professionalism. He introduced me to the 3 servers and explained how everything would work. It was clear and to the point.

Our guests were all greeted and directed to our private area on the beach. The staff had the buffet line set up exactly on time and all tables decorated with fresh flowers and candles. The staff returned repeatedly throughout the evening to make sure we had enough food and checked in with me frequently to see if we needed anything.

The food was AMAZING!! I had no idea what to expect having never been to a The Beach Bar before. But we all loved the food -- tender steak, well prepared tuna, salad, wings, veggies and the best coconut mojitos EVER!

And to top it all off, the wait staff boxed up the left overs for us to take to a home!

Start to finish, it was a wonderful and memorable evening for our family and all 48 of our guests. Everyone had a fabulous time -- and behaved well to boot!
