This was our best dinner in st John. Many of the "nice" restaurants just miss the local feel and the menu ends up feeling like something safe from the mainland. We really enjoyed the Terrace dishes and the wine and drinks took a few notable risks that made everything just great. The local lobster and mahi fish were perfect and included local spices. The drinks were made with a coconut ice cube that really pulled us into an island mood and as the ice melted the drink tasted better!!! This place gets super busy so make a reservation and make sure to be in time. There is parking around the back, but the ramp is super steep so bring your best driving. No guts, no glory. When you are done go party across the street ... Read the next review for what happened over there 🤣

We ate at all the best restaurants in St John and this was my absolute favorite. The service is phenomenal. Our waitress was friendly, nice and made wonderful suggestions. She also didn’t hesitate when we asked to substitute items around. They bring out bread first it tastes so delicious like everything bagels!! I had the macaroni and cheese with mahi mahi on top and omg it was fantastic. The mahi mahi was so flavorful, light and seasoned deliciously. The mac and cheese was so so so good. It was rich and cheesy and just the absolute best. It is also a large portion so lots of leftovers! Only bad part is we were too full for dessert!:) make reservations early before you want to go. I would wholeheartedly recommend eating here and hope to make it back sometime!!

Our hostess quickly found us a table and was incredibly kind. Jeff, however, gave us the best service we've had yet in the VI's. He arranged our silverware for us, topped us off with water often, explained the menu very well, and overall just kept the perfect mix of helpful but not intrusive. At one point, he brought out our silverware and he must have noticed something on one of the spoons because he left with it and came back with another one. Jeff certainly made the price well worth it. The food was good. I've had better lobster, but this was certainly good. The cheesecake, however, was amazing. Would eat here again as long as we can have Jeff be our server.

Best dining experience I've had in the USVI. Lived here for over 2 years, my wife and I are foodies and love to go out. We have tried many restaurants on St Thomas and St John, without a doubt The Terrace delivered the best dining experience we have had. We had dinner there on New Year's Eve. The entire staff was absolutely on point with service, from Hostess, to Manager, to Server to server assistants. Just spot on, obviously very well trained with exceptional attention to detail. We had to catch a ferry back to St Thomas, we told them ahead of time, and they paced the meal perfectly so that we never felt rushed but we weren't going to miss our boat. Our server was Rachel, she was great. Flawlessly executed a wonderful wine service. I would have given them five stars for service alone even if the food was mediocre, but the food was excellent. The menu for NYE was hands down the best we saw, from apps to dessert, I wanted to pay for two meals so I could try more food. The scallops were perfectly seared and tender, the pork belly was flavorful and unctuous (the hazelnuts were a great touch, perfect texture compliment), the salad was delicious, with local greens and homemade dressing. The mains were spot on, the lamb was packed with flavor and perfectly cooked, my filet was fork tender with an excellent pink peppercorn au poivre sauce. My wife got the cassoulet, and it was a standout. There are a few places here to get a good steak, no one attempts and executes a cassoulet like that. I never knew a cassoulet could have such great flavor and texture. I cant say enough good things about our dinner there. I cant wait to go back, The Terrace is our new "go-to" spot for...

Highly over rated. The owner (Robin) is an immature jerk. Our waitress was pushy and non attentive to our table. Wife was in the mood for a nice dinner salad and a glass of wine. When she told the waitress what she wanted the waitress made a big deal ..tgat she had to order more than that .. After several minutes my wife ordered an appetizer that she didn't want. Waitress never asked if we wanted another beverage. We had to track her down. When my steak arrived, never asked me to cut into said steak to ensure it was cooked to my satisfaction. Asked for a second dinner roll and you would have thoughts we asked for a million dollars. Waitress gave us a dirty eye rolling look. After dinner coffee with a shot arrived cold and the shot was already in coffee. No idea if i got a full shot or not. Time for the check. Put credit card on the table thinking someone would notice. 20 minutes passed before we waived the waitress down. We signed the ticket and left a small cash tip on table and wrote -0- as tip on credit card. We left the restaurant and stopped to watch a band performing on the street. Out of no where the male owner of the restaurant approached us and told us we forgot to leave a tip. After explaining the terrable service we had he replied using the "F" word to my face. He also told us we owe it to them because of the hurricane. Little did this A-hole know, we were victims of Harvey.

Bottom line. Food is average at...

You may be wondering how a restaurant that gets five stars for food and service can be a three overall. This owner not the chef believes that he is right and you were wrong. The last few times I’ve been to the restaurant I leave thinking foods good services is good but something is, tense in this restaurant. this time I had the pleasure of interacting with the owner directly. I asked if they had a corkage fee when I came in they said no. Ok, a little unusual in today’s world, but that is definitely their choice. When I looked at the wine list they had the same bottle I brought with me, except it was five years younger. I asked the waiter and then ultimately the owner if I could just buy his bottle of wine, which I would take with me and drink my bottle, he said no, and was clearly irritated that I asked. Now I wasn’t asking for him to go off his policy. I told one of his employees that he was abrasive, she told him which he did not like. This was clearly a power struggle which I later confirmed when he asked me not to come back to the restaurant in the future. That is OK there is lots of good food in St. John I would guess that he heard that before from not from a guest necessarily but from one of his employees. I would suggest not going to this restaurant if you’re at all looking for the owner to want you to be there. He was very clear that he has made lots of money and he doesn’t need me or anybody else to be at...
