I adore this little shop! If you have ever been to a bazaar in the middle east, you will be reminded of that by the wonderful array of fragrant spices as you walk it. The variety of locally sourced items is wonderful! I am particularly drawn to their moringa soap. The owner is meticulous in her selections, I've lived in key west and I'd say their hot sauce selection rivals Peppers of Key West in variety and cost.
Unfortunately, a review was posted that accused the shop of some sort of discriminatory behaviour. Nothing could be farther from the truth. While it is true a man came in and interrupted everyone to buy four bottles of water, I was in line and saw the distress his questioning of price and other boorish comments were affecting the lovely lady just trying to cash me out. I admonished him and instructed him to apologize to the two lovely ladies standing behind me in line. Unfortunately this was left out of the review.
Also I might add the condescending attitude of the lady who wanted special satchels made was just that, rude and unwarranted. I tried to defuse the situation by inquiring where she was from and learned Louisiana has some of the best tea. I also pointed out products to her that I love in the store.
I don't agree with review left by this latest reviewer, it certainly leaves out other truths from the encounter.
Rude is no race based, rude is just rude,
Waterman was wrong and he was shamed into apologizing to those two lovely ladies, but they too, showed disdain...
Read moreThank you for your response. I used the correct phone number off of your website. You have run a successful spice business for many years yet as a sales and marketing professional it is beyond me why you can not inventory logo caps that sell your business and beautiful island. My last trip no St. John Spice no logo caps? Funny their is a very popular outdoor cafe at Mongoose Junction that features their logo cap under glass with only non logo unrelated caps available for sale. Strange. The Shopify message I received said we get a couple of these in and will advise. Come on⦠order some caps. They sell. My complaint is not with the spices. It is with customer service follow up after post trip emails. Finally you reacted to a Google review.
Numerous emails have gone unanswered. Tried calling this morning 5/9/24 and the message says that their pre paid phone card has a zero balance. Granted on many actual visits to St John and the store the spices are very good. But no phone and multiple lack of response to a valued customer is poor management and ownership. You know I wonder if this reflects on the quality control of their product. Who is...
Ā Ā Ā Read more20250531 My friend brought back some of the Caribbean Breeze herbal tea from this shop in St John. I just made my first cup. The herbal tea smells so good in the teaspoon. The dried citrus peel has such a nice aroma. While sipping the tea, I inhale the aroma of the citrus peel in every sip. The herbal tea also tastes so nice; I can taste the citrus peel in every sip. There are so many ingredients in this tea. I looks like it has some berry pieces (cherry, cranberry, blueberry?) And maybe lavender? The combination of ingredients is a...
