We have loved this place and stopped often when they were at the Pier. The new location is less personal and then this happened: We stopped for a couple of beers during Pride. We forgot to pick our credit card up before we left. We returned in 30 minutes to get our card, which was secured behind the bar. When we checked our account this morning, someone had charged hundreds of dollars. Obviously, a bartender took the credit info and treated themselves to hundreds of dollars to food, media purchases and UBER rides. Really disappointing and I wonāt go back. Donāt leave an open tab because there is a thief working thereš°
The owner did call me after I posted this review. She says she knows it wasn't any of her staff. She attests to their integrity. I am not accusing anyone in particular. I am just saying that my card info was lifted somehow while the card was at the bar. All of the fraudulent charges were for take out from local establishments so the card number and info were compromised. I appreciate the owner calling me. I still had to cancel a card that was used after I left the bar and I am just glad I checked the charges...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe might've gotten unlucky tonight, but this certainly didn't feel like Hops & Props. We've gone to the original location for years, and were always made to feel welcome. But we walked in to the (nearly empty) Hops 2.0 and struggled to get beers for about 15 minutes. Our beers were fine, their taplist included all of the local favorites that you've already had before. The bartender did not have menus available. We found a menu that had been posted online an hour before, but were told that it was wrong. After about 20 minutes of further waiting, we were told what was actually available from the kitchen. We got a hot dog with a side of mac & cheese, and it was very tasty, and a good deal at $6. The decor was fine. If you'd ever been to Pour Taproom, the previous tenant in the space, not much has changed. There are big leather couches and nice wooden picnic tables. Hopefully they get enough business to fill up the room, because it was pretty empty when we went there at 8 on a Friday night. I know there are rough spots when opening a new business, and I hope Hops 2.0 can live up to the reputation of it's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHops and Props provided the catering food and drink at my wedding at the St. Pete Museum of History. The price was the most affordable I found and seemed like a good ābang for your buck.ā
Everyone enjoyed the food and my only word of caution is that you will receive a bit of unsolicited advice from the owner and a lot of duplicative emails. There were certain elements of our wedding that I knew exactly what I wanted and although I had already made these decisions, I was given advice to do the opposite. I also received a number of emails to confirm elements I had already confirmed, so that made me feel uneasy that things were not going to be taken care of correctly.
Our food was slightly delayed being presented for our guests to enjoy the buffet, so thankfully our DJ was quick on his feet and swap the speeches with the time for folks to go get food.
Overall, Hops and Props was a fine vendor; I would just caution about the planning process as it added a bit of stress to my...
