Well, let’s start at the beginning
Upon arrival the valet is $40 per night and the place they park them is a 15 minute trip away and there’s only one valet. So if you were third in line, you could be waiting up to 45 minutes for your car
Upon arrival I was charged for my room and told them that I had already prepaid and they charged it anyways, but very quickly did give me a charge back, but just kind of showing how disorganized they are.
The check-in process is just two guys with folding tables and laptops very weird Check-in process.
I paid for a pool side view room and my room. Maybe you could see 1/10 of the Pool if you stood at the sliding glass doors and looked left. Room (113)
The room Was well equipped with a washer and dryer small kitchenette, but the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything and I have poor hearing.
I couldn’t watch the TV because you have to sign into everything and it was once again just very, very unusual that I tried signing in to Netflix, but couldn’t for some reason.
The shower water pressure was extremely low and it’s a good thing. I’m almost bald because if you try to wash a full head of hair, I don’t think there’s enough pressure to get the soap out of your hair once again when I think of a four star hotel, it’s way more luxurious than this
After the first night, I left to go see the town and the cleaning crew came in and literally took everything out of my room to include jewelry clothes everything, and put it in the office and apparently didn’t tell anyone where it was. So you can imagine when I come back to my room and open my refrigerator to take my medication that the room is totally cleaned out. Once again, very strange to me as they have my phone number and could’ve called me if there was any question. So I get upset and the guy is telling me to “calm down”. They took everything! They didn’t know where it was and they try to make me look like the bad guy! They eventually found it, and never apologized, nothing. Just set it on the table for me to retrieve and bring back to my room.
Probably my worst stay in a hotel ever. I am old too!
Good luck with the hotel if you decide to stay. I am not a bougie guy but when something is rated so high at least give me good service. That did not happen at all. Good luck if you decide to stay here and please write an honest review for future lodgers as this was nowhere a high rating hotel, not even close.
The photo is the water pressure. The water just falls to the ground and...

I'm 45 years old and I've been to over a dozen countries and probably double that number in states and have stayed in hotels all over the planet.
Rooms are clean and modern and the washer and drier are a god send. But I go to take a shower in the morning before a very busy and packed day and there's no hot water.
I complain to front desk and the young lady named India was so gracious in the face of my tantrum, but she was unable to dispatch maintenance in a timely manner to fix the issue because they were "too busy", so I went on with my day without a shower because I figured I'd just shower before my evening plans.
I get a text saying the shower was fixed. When I return in the afternoon I test the shower, and yes, it was fixed.
So I grab something to eat and kill some time before trying to shower again before my evening plans.
I get in the shower and and the water is perfect. Go to lather up but guess what? The shower gel dispenser is COMPLETELY EMPTY. Let's just use shampoo since we're in a time crunch and if it's good enough to wash your scalp, it should be sufficient to wash your body, right? Wrong. Because the friggin shampoo dispenser is friggin empty too.
I'm talking not a single drop left in either. Bone dry.
Do you understand the kind of gross negligence it takes for this many things to be wrong with a room?
I don't even blame housekeeping for this. I blame management. Who ever is in charge of managing this hotel needs to be fired and replaced with someone who actually cares about their job or has actual experience running a hotel.
This has literally never happened to me in any hotel. Imagine charging people $300 a night and then failing to provide the kind of service that you get at a Super 8 Motel.
If I could give my experience zero stars, I would. Absolutely never staying there again, and if you're reading this, do yourself a favor and stay at a proper hotel instead of trying to save a couple of bucks like I did.
EDIT: instead of a genuine apology, management comes here and gaslights me first by claiming I was offered another room to shower in "immediately" when in reality I was already half way across town at my first meeting when I received that call, 20 minutes later. And then they do not even address the other half of my complaint regarding the empty soap AND shampoo dispensers. I don't understand how they're not embarrassed by this kind of response when I'm...
Read moreWent with friends to see a ball game and my friend had booked a room at the Mint House in St Petersburg. I had not planned to stay with them originally, but changed my mind at the last minute. We assumed we would be able to stay in the same room. Usually there are rollout beds in cases such as people having children. The young man working at the front desk was very nice. Unfortunately he told us they did not have these roll out beds and they only had rooms with queen beds. So I would have to get my own room, which I did. The rates were reasonable which made it workable since I had not planned to get my own room. I'm still surprised that they didn't have pull out beds since people with children would want that. It seems like they would lose business because of it. The rooms were nice. They were exactly what I like. No carpets on the floor and basic but full of the things you need. There was a full size refrigerator in the room along with all the other necessities. There was a balcony with furniture and a very nice view of the stadium from my room which was on the fourth floor. They also had complimentary green popcorn and two bottles of water. The room was very clean and neat. I guess parking would be easy if you use their valet and pay extra. I didn't do that and I found St Pete somewhat difficult to navigate when I was looking for a lot to park in. I'm sure if you had been there before it would probably be easy but this was our first time. It looks like you can bring pets to your room with a $100 charge which I wasn't sure exactly how that worked. We didn't have pets with us so I never checked that out. The hallways of the building were very basic which was something I appreciated about the Mint. They had a very nice swimming pool which I'd never had time to use. The hotel was located very close to the stadium. Walking distance. Overall I did like the Mint very much. Bring some food with you because the restaurants around the area don't seem to be open at the times when we got up in the morning or wanted to eat...
