Under any condition, please do not move here. One review cannot begin to describe how bad this apartment is, but I will try.
We had black mold in our apartment. The lease says that if the apartment tests for mold they didn't have to share the results with us unless it was at a certain threshold. Not only did they not even test but they had someone come in and wipe off the mold which absolutely does not work with black mold, but they destroyed all the proof we had that there was black mold in the apartment. It lingers in the air. We subsequently had to move everything out of the apartment and keep paying rent. There is likely still black mold in the air in that apartment and who knows where else it will grow.
The cockroaches and bugs in the apartment were terrible. We asked the apartment to fix the problem and they lied several times saying they had sprayed (the first times without us knowing when there were pets in there. Luckily it wasn't true.) when I was there the entire day and no one came. I am anaphylactically allergic to cockroaches and the apartment did absolutely nothing about it. Regardless of how clean we kept our apartment they came in through the laundry room, and there were hundreds of them.
The management team was never there. They changed their hours so they were in office less and they still weren't there. When you called they didn't answer. When you emailed them they didn't answer. They frequently had several hour signs on the door that all said conflicting information. The only times they were they is when we scheduled an apartment tour in the beginning, when I scheduled to drop my keys off at the end, and the several times they changed the parking situation.
There were so many problems with the appliances, especially the toilets, that encouraged so many health problems. The toilets were leaky, running all the time, clogged constantly. Again, we sent in several maintenance requests and emails and got such little help we had to fix it ourselves several times. The one time we did get someone in he broke it more and then left. Our sink didn't drain all the way which encouraged the cockroach problem ten fold.
They changed the way to get in the parking garage at least every fix months, so you had to come in person and get a new remote or sensor added to your car. They also originally told us the wrong parking spot so us and another apartment were trying to park in the same spot while our actual one was empty. The organization was terrible, and the sensors and remotes rarely worked anyway. I eventually gave up and parked almost half a mile away across train tracks because it was such a hassle.
The trash rooms also had mold and rotten food and unidentifiable liquids everywhere. One of them also had a broken light that flickered so badly. It was small and tiny, almost no trash bags could actually fit in.
Me and all my roommates started having seizures while living there. While we have no proof that it was the apartment, all of us and both of our pets started having serious health problems while living there. Whether it was insane amounts of black mold exposure the apartment did nothing about or something else we might never know, but I have personally went to the hospital 3 times because of them.
Most of the neighbors are great, but so many of them are so loud. The neighbor below us played the loudest music all night long, which the apartment did nothing about. The police and fire department were called at least once a week, and the police officers were extremely rude and biased to my roommate and I when we asked to give testimonies as witnesses to a crime. The fire alarm went off for hours, sometime in the middle of the night at least once a month. Everyone quickly stops going outside.
The pool is cleaned once a year at the beginning of the summer and the rest of the time it is literally green because of the mold, algae, and other species growing in it. There is bird poop frequently floating in it
And this is a short list of the things that are wrong with...
Read moreAfter being approved for a lease, they had to push back my move-in date back by a week to take care of a mess left behind by the previous tenant. No problem - I make do. Then they push it back again. And again. Week by week, my move-in date was pushed back by 57 days. When I moved in, the apartment was not clean. The floors had not even been swept. The walls were dirty. The dishwasher did not work. There were roaches living there that crawled on us while we slept. Management barely even made an attempt to help with the roaches and did not send someone to help until more than a week after we moved in. They told me that I should set up roach traps myself. But even after treatment, the roaches kept coming back very aggressively.
It took weeks for them to give us a mailbox key because they simply did not make an effort to cut a copy of a key (the machine to cut keys is literally in their office), and when they finally got me the key, it turned out to be for the wrong mailbox. It took something like 10 weeks for us to finally get access to OUR mailbox, and USPS had already gotten rid of important documents that had been sent to us. It took this long despite me constantly stopping by their office and bombarding them with phone calls. Plus, every time I go into their office, I have to go into work late or leave early, because their office hours are abysmal and they never answer the phone.
Maintenance requests took weeks to months to be completed. When I moved out, there were maintenance requests many months old that still had not been completed. My car was broken into multiple times. I had packages stolen from the mail room. People do drugs in the stairwells. Throughout my entire stay, despite their complete lack of respect and effort, I tried my best to be very friendly and cordial with them.
Upon moving out, they took my full security deposit and then sent me an additional bill for hundreds of dollars months later. The apartment was reasonably clean when I moved out. It was not spic and span, but at least I had set up roach traps, swept, and fixed the dishwasher, which was more than they did for me. After everything, this was a huge slap in the face - to force me to pay them even more money after they never attempted to keep the apartment clean, functional, or safe when I moved in, nor at all during my entire stay. The extra money I paid will certainly go to something superficial like repainting their hallway walls, rather than anything meaningful such as maintenance staff, eliminating their roach problem, or taking care of you in any meaningful way.
Their lack of effort and care, for the people paying them way too much money to live in awful conditions, is pathetic. I have lived in less-than-ideal housing, but this one takes the cake. Have some respect for yourself and do not live here. They simply do not care about you, and they do not care about addressing their litany of management problems. I have since then found a cheaper apartment that is in a better location with better conditions and an incredible staff. You can find that too, and it is not...
Read moreI’m not one to ever leave reviews especially bad reviews but, I moved into Citifront on November 30th, so i’ve been living here only for about a month and a half now. Before moving in here I wanted to get in as fast as possible because of the fact it has income restricted/low income based apartments for cheap, right next to downtown and downtown living, and a great start for me being by myself. Except it just took a huge turn for the worst as soon as I moved in. First thing I noticed was the broken water heater (still not replaced), the broken disposal, ripped carpet, missing blinds causing absolutely no privacy in here, broken closet doors, and the MAJOR issue for me was the cockroaches SWARMING the entire place. I put in a handful of maintenance requests so that my issues can be resolved but the only thing they managed to fix was the disposal and the blinds, mind you this wasn’t fixed until two days ago when I had to walk into the leasing office and beg them to fix the issues. I’m constantly getting sick from the cockroaches since I moved in, no matter how clean I keep my apartment. I bleach, mop, sweep and wipe down everything every single day yet it gets worse and worse. I have no furniture inside my place except my bed, i’ve never had cockroaches before in my life until I moved here. I talked to my neighbors and they are experiencing the same thing even people across the whole building, so it’s not just a “neighbor issue” as the office told me. These bugs are crawling across my kitchen, walls, bedroom, cabinets, EVERYWHERE! The blinds not getting fixed until two days ago was harmful to my safety as well. I am a woman and the last thing I want is people staring through my blinds on the first floor, but a few nights ago that’s exactly what happened and I didn’t and still do not feel safe in a place that I pay for every single month, but management would never care enough to fix that. I haven’t been able to shower with hot water for the past month and a half due to a completely broken water heater. The maintenance guy has came in and told me they need to replace it because it was just broken and they couldn’t fix it. Nobody has came to replace it still halfway through January. The homeless area near by is so bad, so good luck feeling safe if you are on the first floor or facing any streets. We pay a $25 parking fee for a secured garage area to keep our cars safe and able to freely park overnight without the possibility of tickets from parking on the street, however the sliding security gate has been messed up and left open for nights in a row including days where I don’t even feel like my car is safe. Moving here I was very excited, but it’s been nothing but disappointments. These picture are from the...
