I was at the Rockets vs Jazz (Game 4) playoff game (5/6/18). This was my very first NBA game, let alone Jazz game. Overall my experience was fantastic, even though the Jazz lost (by a big margin). Obviously if the Jazz win, and you're a Jazz fan, the experience will be better than if they lose, but I'm going to write this review trying to not take in the variable of if the team wins or loses, and just review the arena for what it is.
There was a pre game "get together" in front of the arena where they had face painters, DJ, photo booths, Jazz gear merchants, etc. If you have a family with kids, I'd recommend coming at pre game to this little party, just to get their faces painted and some pictures taken. I'm not certain if this was just a playoff type of event, or if this is the standard before every Jazz game regardless if it's regular season or playoffs.
The entrance doors open 90 minutes before game time, and the crowd to lineup gets very long. I'd recommend getting to the arena 2 hours prior to game time, just so you can be one of the first people in line, since being one of the first to get into the arena is great. I was able to get some pretty incredible pictures of the arena (especially a panorama of the stadium with the yellow t shirts on every seat without anyone actually in the arena).
You are allowed to get pretty close to the floor during team warm-ups, all the way up to about row 5. If you're a big fan of basketball, there's nothing better than watching pro athletes warm up. Watching their warm up routines, seeing how big and tall (or small) the players are in real life, and just being so close to them in general is pretty awesome. Yes, Joe Ingles really does look like an average Joe plumber out there, and yes, James Harden's beard is pretty biblical.
The food at the arena (and everything in general) is pretty expensive, which really isn't a surprise taking into consideration that's how every sports event is. This was my first time being in SLC on a Sunday, and I planned on pre gaming at one of the restaurants prior to the game, but what I found out was that EVERYTHING IS CLOSED ON SUNDAYS. I had to get some food at the arena ($15 for chicken fingers, tots, and soda), and I'd highly recommend not getting any food here and just pre gaming at a restaurant or somewhere else. Just felt like a waste of money (the chicken fingers weren't hot, the tots were soggy), but this isn't the fault of the actual arena, but the food vendor instead.
Overall, I really loved the whole experience, and can't wait to attend more games. If you had a choice between attending 2-3 regular season games vs 1 playoff game, I'd highly recommend a playoff game. The atmosphere and the vibe is really fun, and you might see some stars in the arena. I'd also highly recommend making an attempt to be at the stadium 2 hours prior to game start, and being one of the first entering the arena.
This is a 5 star experience, if you're a Jazz fan, you'll enjoy this place. Now that the Jazz have a bright future with Mitchell, Rubio, Royce, Joe, Rudy, Crowder, etc, I expect the popularity of the Jazz to increase.
P.S.: I had my tickets on their Smartphone app, entrance was easy. Bathrooms get CROWDED during half time, so plan accordingly. Parking can get frustrating, especially if the game ISN'T on a Sunday, but I stayed at a hotel within walking distance of the arena (Econo Lodge Downtown), just to avoid any...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I bought tickets for us and our four kids to see the Transiberian Orchestra. We were so excited because our kids had never been, and the concert we saw in 2019 was amazing.
Our excitement went away when we received an email about the arena changing their requirements in order to attend the event. We probably would have canceled our tickets, but since we already hyped it up to the kids, we had to go. They required proof of vaccination or a negative covid test within 3 days of the concert. All kids 12 and under didn’t need either of those, but they needed to wear a mask the entire time.
The website said a test could be done anywhere, but it had to be a PCR test. We called twice to make sure, but each time we talked to someone they said it could be a rapid test, but it needed to be done at an approved location, not at home.
Once we got to the arena, there were a few lines to choose from. We had to ask around because it wasn’t clear where we needed to go. We found an employee who said we could show our information to him to enter. I showed him two of our tests results, but my boyfriend was scrambling to find the others. The employee said we were good to go and let us in. Thank goodness because the results got deleted from the phone.
No bags were allowed (unless there was a special circumstance). It made the security check process go really fast and we were thankful for that. Once we got through, I had the tickets downloaded to my virtual wallet, so they just had to tap my phone with theirs for each ticket. That was a little buggy, but we got it to work.
It said masks were required for 12 and under, but that wasn’t enforced. Social distancing wasn’t a thing either, but it definitely can’t be with a crowd that large. If you’re worried about that type of thing, then definitely steer clear from the concert scene.
Okay, let’s get to the good part. We were seated quickly and had fantastic seats. The Transiberian Orchestra was absolutely AMAZING!!! It was a fantastic show and we all enjoyed it. It felt good to go to a concert again and have some sort of normalcy.
We weren’t going to attend another concert, but after this, I...
Read moreThe Delta Center is surely one of the most organized venues I’ve been to in a while.
To be honest, I did not expect much of it but the place was truly beautiful and the architectural aspect of the venue was way more complex than what is seen from a quick peek.
In my case, I went there for a Korn, Gojira and Spiritbox concert and I can say everything was perfectly organized and going in and out was a smooth experience. All the exits are mindfully located, all the seats are big enough to allow people to enjoy a great experience without invading the space of the other’s surroundings them, the A/C was balanced to a comfortable temperature and there’s also plenty of bathrooms no matter what exit you take.
Security and overall all the staff are really well organized and communicated, they move around the venue with swiftness, have every corner watched and they make all the stages of the event proceed safely and smoothly, seeing them work that efficiently was truly an impressive sight.
Only complain I could have about the Delta Center is their concessions stand, they did take a while to set up and started selling just a few minutes before the show, and with so many people on the venue, you could easily miss the beginning of the show by making line for a drink or popcorn.
Also, you don’t go to a cinema, concert or circus and expect the food to be cheap, we all know they always overprice their concessions to make some extra profit, we get it they’re businesses, but come on… $32 for 2 beers? $16 each beer? That’s straight up robbery.
Overall, despite the steep prices and late concessions setup, the Delta Center offers an outstanding experience with its smooth organization, attentive staff, and well-thought-out facilities, making it a top tier venue for events that ensures a seamless and enjoyable experience for...
