First time staying and loved it. Especially enjoyed the lobby bar and outdoor sitting area. Passing time with a cup of coffee in the morning and a cocktail at night was special.||The old feel of the train station depot with the modern touches are unique and well appreciated. ||Our room was comfortable, and we slept well. We had a west facing fifth floor classic tower room which is the basic room including the split bath as described by others. Okay for a couple but probably best for a single traveler. I do appreciate having a walk-in shower that doesn’t cause the bathroom to steam up. But there isn’t a lot of privacy. My hubby and I are married 31 years so it was fine for us. Go for the run premium or historic room if traveling in a couple or family with kids. ||We are Marriott gold. No upgrade but our room was on a higher floor as requested. Received points at checkin and acknowledgement. Tower floors are long. Might request a room nearer elevator next time. Loved the water station next to elevator on each floor. ||Staff was great. We were there 4 days and folks would recognize us - “nice to see you again”, “how was your day yesterday” etc. We checked in a midnight. The clerk walked us to the elevator to ensure we knew where we were going. The lobby and open areas are amazing and easy to get around. But at midnight it was nice to have a guide. ||We ate at the Rouser for breakfast once and utilized the Counterparts coffee shop multiple times. Both were exactly as they should be. Yummy. Fresh. Easy. ||The gym is large and well supplied. I would like to see a recumbent bike added. No one was ever in there when we used. ||Our son lives in SLC, dropping is off or picking us up often. Easy to just pull into the valet area. Would be nice to have little bench there to wait. And also would be nice to have a “drop off “ sign also. We had received an email ahead of our visit asking ride share to drop there also. ||We also took advantage of the free light rail station just in front of the hotel and the lime scooters. Fun way to get around downtown. ||Had fun exploring the gateway. Wiseguys comedy was great. Hubby also saw the RUSH laser show at the planetarium ( only available weekend evenings ). Highly recommend both. ||Will try the 119 bar and maybe a historic room next time. ||Truly no issue and look forward to...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Asher Adams, and I have to say, they nailed it—especially impressive considering it was during their opening week. It’s rare to see a new hotel so well-organized and seamless right out of the gate. Honestly, it put some of my past opening week experiences with other Marriott properties, like Westins, St Regis, and even Editions, to shame. Those hotels often struggle with hiccups in their first few weeks, but not Asher Adams.
From check-in to check-out, everything ran smoothly. The staff were not only friendly but seemed genuinely prepared, which is no small feat for a brand-new property. My room was spotless, and the attention to detail was obvious. They didn’t miss a beat, whether it was getting requests right or ensuring that every amenity was exactly as it should be. They also made sure I got to make use of my Titanium Elite benefits, which some other properties go out of their way to hide or confuse you on what you are getting.
The building is beautiful—a restored Union Pacific Depot with stunning details like stained-glass windows and terrazzo floors. But what really impressed me was how the hotel feels fully functional while still honoring its historic charm. Every area of the hotel was thoughtfully updated, blending character with comfort. And everything just felt...polished.
Food and drinks were another highlight. Rouser, the restaurant, served incredible food with this smoky twist that ties back to the building’s railroad history. I'll leave a separate review, but their house made fry bread, English muffin, brioche, and salmon were some of the highlights.
On top of all that, the location is perfect—steps from the Light Rail, Delta Center, the Gateway, City Creek Mall. Lots to do in the immediate vicinity.
If you’re looking for a place to stay in Salt Lake City, Asher Adams is already running like a well-oiled machine (and is the superior choice if you are considering similar properties in SLC). I was blown away by how smooth and professional the experience was. They’ve set the bar incredibly high, and I’ll...
