Initially I was happy with my interactions with the management. I had called two days before to ask if I could charge the room on a different card. The front desk said “of course”. When I arrived, I reminded her that I wanted to switch the card which meant she would have to credit the deposit on the original card and charge the whole amount to the new card. She said it was no problem. Then she told me to get a parking spot it would be $15. I said yes, but then she said someone e else was in my spot but would be leaving soon (was just unloading). This was fine as I had to drop off some stuff at the beach. When I came back the car was still in my paid spot so I called and the front desk told me to go find parking on the street until they left. I was planning on parking and leaving for the rest of the day. I don’t know why she didn’t call them to ask them to move their car? I’ve been asked for my money back for the spot and parked on the street.. |I had two rooms and we arrived at 2pm with check in at 4pm. I called earlier in the day and she said the rooms would be ready at 2pm. One was ready and she said the other would be ready in 30 mins. Totally fine since we were there early. However if you say the room will be ready in 30 mins. We should be able to count on it. We saw the people who were cleaning taking a break. They did not come back to clean u til after 3pm. The room wasn’t ready until 4pm. The next day when I checked out, I asked again about switching the card and charging the full amount to the new card. Again, she said no problem. I don’t get a copy of a receipt or invoice. Today I checked my card and they only charged my new card the tax and fees. And when I called they had already closed out the ticket and could not charge my new card the full amount. The woman who helped me today was...
Read moreI would like to begin by saying we have been totally blessed to have found such a hidden gem in the La Jolla area! This was more than expected of what my wife and I were looking for when we were looking for a getaway to rest, recharge, and refresh.
La Jolla Riviera Inn is an apartment complex converted into a hotel and is conveniently located in the thick of a prestigious and beautifully landscaped residential area. The walk to the La Jolla Shores Beach is literally about 5 minutes, and there is somewhat of a downtown area with shops and many places to eat (Shorehouse Kitchen is great) which is probably less than 5 minutes away.
Concerning the hotel itself, it is lavished with lush landscaping, the property is very clean and the atmosphere is extremely quiet and peaceful. We were welcomed by Debbie, who has proven to be incredibly friendly, helpful, and down-to-earth. When she opened the door to the room, what I saw was much more than I had thought we signed up for — a quaint, cozy, apartment, equipped with modern interior design which included wood laminate flooring, a well-lit living room with a couch-bed and lounge chair, a dining room with a dining table, and a kitchen equipped with a top mount refrigerator, a gas oven, and even a coffee pot/coffee and creamer, silverware, dishes, pot and pans, and cooking utensils. The bedroom is absolutely gorgeous, also well-lit and coming with a queen-sized bed, two end tables, closet/cabinet space, and a huge bathroom.
The price was minimal concerning the many amenities there are to enjoy, the ideal location, and the excellent service. This truly feels like a home away from home and I would highly recommend La Jolla Riviera Inn to anybody looking for a great place to stay in the San Diego area. I certainly plan on coming...
Read moreVery cute. It's apartments that are now converted into the Inn. There is street parking or parking spots they reserve for $15 per night. The common area is super cute with the swimming pool adorning the center and rooms along the sides. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite at no extra cost which was a nice perk.
The room is basically an apartment - nice living room, dining table for 6, kitchen, a master and second bedroom and a bathroom. There is a covered patio that overlooks the tennis club and golf course and you can see a sliver of the ocean.
We loved it! The bed was actually quite comfy, but more so the pillows. The kitchen came equipped with utensils, cutlery, etc and coffee. But no soap to clean so I could only rinse everything out and keep.
What was a bit disappointing was that the heating only seems to be there for the living room. We couldn't find a vent in the bedroom. Also all fans have the plunger things you have to pull, which is discomforting when you are 5'1" and standing on the bed as you try to switch the fan off in the middle of the night, avoiding your head from slicing open.
Loved that we had our own little apartment and didn't have to see anyone else. Check in was also through a lockbox.
We will come back...
